Ginger - in that case Trump could have spent the whole rally farting the Stars and Stripes, and that guy would still have wept at his feet. Scary.

PerspicaciaTick · 19/02/2017 00:11

I don't think the people behind Trump could actually hear anything he was saying. Presumably the PA address system wasn't aimed behind him.

GingerIvy · 19/02/2017 00:13

dusters I would have preferred that. At least it would have been new and different. Grin

Waiting for his "OMG There were MILLIONS there!! 2hour standing ovation!!!" tweet.

TheClaws · 19/02/2017 00:16

Well, that was weird. I can see how it would appeal to DT's supporters though. Pre-election: "We are going to do all these awesome things for YOU." Post-election: "We've been left with a mess, and people are making it hard for us, but we are doing these things for YOU. Don't worry about it."

The deceptive simplicity of these messages cut through the election white noise for his voter base, and continues to do so now. Not sure for how long he can rely on that, though, as eventually people require more than paper-thin promises and rhetoric.

Oh well, I'm off to make bed great again. Get the best sleep. Have a bigly nap.

So, he is in charge of defining 'truth' and the enemy are those who do not believe. OK.

May doesn't attack press here because she controls it.
Meanwhile NYT reports that posts are proving difficult to fill in his government.

SenecaFalls · 19/02/2017 00:23

Thanks, y'all. I couldn't stand to watch it, but I wanted to find out what happened.

nicenewdusters · 19/02/2017 00:32

Basically Seneca it was great, the greatest. He's cutting the cost of everything, by bigly millions. Every good dude is going to have a job, a great job, and the bad dudes with such bad ideas, so sad, are going to go back home. He's going to sort out those bad judges, build tunnels, bridges and roads. I think that covers it. Oh, and lots of soundbites about forrin places he doesn't understand anything about.

Chippednailvarnishing · 19/02/2017 00:50

He's going to build the biggest and best of everything ever!

And on that happy happy thought I'm off to bed.

cozietoesie · 19/02/2017 00:51

Did he mention Mars at all? Smile

Deejoda · 19/02/2017 01:00

Specifically when he has booked his one-way ticket there? Pls?

SanFranBear · 19/02/2017 01:06

Catching up - thanks for all your posts as I wasn't able (and wouldn't have been able to bear) to watch.

Chazzum & Davum made me genuinely lol - thanks Dusters

That black guy behind Trump? A well dodgy character ...

Does anyone else feel like they've fallen asleep and woken up in an episode of the Simpsons?

I have a theory that Trump is using meaningless rhetoric to induce listener fatigue - when we start tuning out his insane ramblings, that's when he'll start talking about the really scary stuff.

Trump supporters who hang on his every word will notice, but the rest of us will be half tuning him out as an act of self-preservation. And that is when he'll unleash his most insane plans..............

Either that, or he's taken oratory lessons from a malfunctioning android.

saffronwblue · 19/02/2017 02:08

Mastering the art of reading threads with my hands over my eyes. Thank you so much for the live account. Interesting strategy to make the media the enemy.
One of the many things I hate about his reign is the way he brings out the intellectual snob in me. He seems to rejoice in his idiocy and lack of education and it fills me with dark rages.
So he used AF1 for campaigning, slammed the judiciary and is being threatening about the media? surely someone can start impeaching him soon!

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 19/02/2017 02:11

Did he mention Mars at all?

It was one of the few things he DIDN'T mention.

My insomnia puts us in the same timezone for a change.

GrommitsEarsHurt · 19/02/2017 02:22

What does he actually need to do to be impeached? Surely he must meet some criteria or other by now?

saffronwblue · 19/02/2017 02:41

mort wish you were asleep and it was all a bad dream, hey?

SenecaFalls · 19/02/2017 02:41

According to the constitution, it is "high crimes and misdemeanors." The House brings impeachment charges and then there is a trial in the Senate. When Clinton was impeached, it was for lying (perjury and obstruction of justice). He was acquitted in the Senate so not removed from office.

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/02/2017 02:44

Not only did he not mention Mars - he didn't mention Russia either. Not once.

Lweji · 19/02/2017 02:44

GrommitsEarsHurt · 19/02/2017 02:50

high crimes and misdemeanours

So he needs to get worse before it can get better again (by getting rid of him).

saffronwblue · 19/02/2017 03:15

Awful people are being mean to me on Twitter because I questioned the use of AF1. So sad.
