NOT a TAAT - just inspired by a certain one

Tell us about your fave MN troll

I liked the woman who had a dead husband who hand painted the childrens bedrooms, and now she was remarried she wanted all of her stepchildren to sleep in one room so that her children from her first marriage wouldn't have to give up their bedrooms even for one night!

Surely IANBU to ask what your favorite troll on MN has been?!

RatHammock has it! GabbyLogon.

PageStillNotFound404 · 16/02/2017 16:46

Thanks Hate. That's a pretty shitty thing to troll about.

Soubriquet · 16/02/2017 16:46

Yep Oliver's army was pretty bad

Wouldn't have been so bad if people wasn't feeding it like they were

Daily checking in, sending selfies with Oliver's army written on it and offering their own experiences

But I don't blame the people. They honestly thought they were helping a mother go through one of the most harrowing things that could happen to their child

Sick cow

MyWhatICallNameChange · 16/02/2017 16:46

RatHammock my twins have the luxury of the biggest bedroom, more room for all the mess. Angry

Hatemylifenow · 16/02/2017 16:46

Yes it was vile. Sick individual.

ElderDruid · 16/02/2017 16:47

What's the Oliver's Army thread?

Basically cut a long story short one of my kids has a friend who has issues, first it was a love / hate relationship but the Mum was like be nice. So they're friends, I don't know if it's hormones but my child is being a little shit. I asked DH what this other kids issues were, he sniped back, its not your business. But I think I should know, as it worries me my once 'almost' Saint like child is being led astray. I know every Mum believes their children are angels, but it's seriously gone from innocence to attitude. Their sibling has even picked up on it.

traceyjacks · 16/02/2017 16:48

Was the woman a troll who had a baby due and 3 other kids and didn't know how she was going to cope (in a refuge/temp accommodation) and people were buying her and the kids things off an Amazon wish list? I thought that was dodgy and couldn't believe how many people were buying her things....

MajorGeneralBuldeeff · 16/02/2017 16:48

Shock at Oliver's Army.

I'm glad I missed that one.

RatHammock · 16/02/2017 16:49

I'd like to hear your theory BalloonSlayer. I find the whole subject fascinating.

PageStillNotFound404 · 16/02/2017 16:50

Sorry Blatherskite I skimread - "Brian" referred to Yoniguy not the person whose name you actually can't remember!

ChicRock · 16/02/2017 16:50

Go on BalloonSlayer I'd like to hear your theory.

Maudlinmaud · 16/02/2017 16:51

No page it was colourful, very child friendly infact Wink

ElderDruid · 16/02/2017 16:53

Sorry would love to hear your theory Smile

ElderDruid · 16/02/2017 16:55

It's scary people can get so invested but I've helped a fair few damsels in distress in my time. But wouldn't again.

WannaBe · 16/02/2017 16:58

"But I don't blame the people. They honestly thought they were helping a mother go through one of the most harrowing things that could happen to their child" I'm not so sure about that actually. I think that for many it's a hero complex they need to satisfy, and they want to be the one who is offering the most support/help/is there in the time of need etc. I know that for many whose children have been through similar they often do post on the threads because they feel that their posting there will make the OP realise that there are people who know how it is for real iyswim. I know that at least one poster on the oliver's army thread said she knew it was bollocks from the outset because of timings etc and procedures and the fact that the OP shied away from RL support when someone said they were in the area and suddenly the hospital changed and so on. But she felt that if she posted then it would give the OP an idea that people who knew what they were talking about were watching, iyswim.

Hatemylifenow · 16/02/2017 17:00

Doesn't help that posters get so defensive and fawny if you dare to question the op.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 16/02/2017 17:02

I was taken in by stranded bear. She posted for a long time and was very convincing

WannaBe · 16/02/2017 17:02

I actually know someone in RL who trolls on forums. Well I don't know her in RL but I know who she is iyswim - she used to be quite a prominent person in the VI community.

But she creates online persona's all of whom have serious disabilities and/or MH issues, they befriend people and make themselves known and liked, and then at a critical point she kills them off.

I outed her on another website where I used to be a moderator, and discovered she had at least three aalter ego's on there, one of which she had already killed off, and the other who had just quietly disappeared, but the 3rd was going through serious brain surgery. So I deleted all the accounts, followed the still living one on twitter and sat back and watched until she died about a year later. Shock. Suicide obviously. Much upset and so on.

And the creator of all this is out there, well liked and respected and very few people know.

ElderDruid · 16/02/2017 17:08

What's VI?

ShakeofFara · 16/02/2017 17:08

Wannabe agree re the Oliver's Army thread. So many were defending the OP and it all got a bit heated and then when the thread deleted quite a few said 'I knew but went with it anyway'.

ProudBadMum · 16/02/2017 17:09

A lot of people like the drama and hero thing on certain threads.

There's some threads now that send my bullshit alarm off but you dare to say anything that isn't arse licky you are chased off the thread and called a bully.

I'm just waiting my time so I can say TOLD YOU SO Grin

Only1scoop · 16/02/2017 17:11

The photographic of the bruising, almost immediate diagnosis, then emergency medical transport to hospital all with 'Oliver' pictured at every stage.

It was completely unbelievable.

Soubriquet · 16/02/2017 17:12

I bet you won't be at all modest either will you BadMum Grin

HairsprayBabe · 16/02/2017 17:14

There was a funny one for ever ago I have seen mentioned about a woman who was having an affair and she wanted to know if it was unreasonable to go on holiday with her DH the OM and the OM's girlfriend!

She claimed it would be worth it as it was such an exclusive resort!

I prefer a funny troll to a goady fucker starting threads like "slimming world is bollocks" or "over 35s shouldnt ttc" looking for a bun fight is boring amd pointless!

Where did the Oliver's army troll get the picture? Was it their DS or random pictures off the internet? What a horrible thing to lie about.
