Both sides are being played like a fiddle, did you happen to retweet the "news" yesterday that the statue of liberty was in fact a muslim by any chance ?

I don't recall that being mentioned on this thread, never mind seeing it retweeted anywhere.

You seem to have a very strong idea of what people in general, people on this thread and MN 'believe'.

GingerIvy · 06/02/2017 19:39

Just so we know what to expect next re the ban.

We are not "MN". We are individuals. We've been tossing a lot of information around, looking at whether or not it may be valid, and trying to keep a pretty even keel here. I hardly think it's fair to add up the entire population of MN together and blame us for your maths in that regard.

If only you respected that opinion to those that didn't vote for Clinton you would have a little more understanding, its a bit late to be calling the "don't use the broad brush", I mean isn't the rhetoric now guilt by association.. as is the case of "not all racists voted for brexit/trump but all racists supported Trump/brexit"

Eh - the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France.

People on here have been good at correcting fake news - there's a lot of it about.

Actually, if you'd bothered to read my posts, I'd pointed out numerous times that I know quite a few people that voted for Trump, for various reasons, some that I understood and some that I didn't.

Perhaps if you spent less time attacking my posts and accusing me of "spamming shit," then you'd realise that.

Consider yourself "ignored." I don't appreciate nasty attacks. We've all bumped along on these threads quite nicely, thank you very much, so if you can't play nice, frankly I'm not interested in engaging with you.

Justanotherlurker · 06/02/2017 19:44

Haha, come on merrymouse, you have stood by your name for a long time, don't pretend that you of all people put people in boxes..

Please I've been on here long enough and read through all these threads, picking a singular point to prove a negative does not negate my point.

I can see why people voted Trump. I was watching a video on CNN from a town in Kentucky - it lost a lot of jobs, high unemployment, high poverty. You can see why Trump got in - interestingly none of the people interviewed discussed Muslims or immigration - they wanted hope and thought Trump will give them hope.

Given his obsession with radical Islam, he seems to have lost focus on those people - who I suspect are probably far more concerned with jobs than the threat to them from radical Islam.

Its possible to understand and not agree.

It's difficult to agree with somebody who has voted for somebody who thinks we need a war with 'Islam'.

However, if you want to change minds the most effective strategy would be to put forward a strong evidence based argument.

GingerIvy · 06/02/2017 19:45

This is concerning. Trump seems keen to loosen gun regulations, so it's possible this could end up through.

Do you think Trump's obsession with radical Islam is the key issue for his core voters?

I don't - I think they want jobs and to do better. I wish Trump would focus on that. Give them hope.

Lol, OK, I've read your posts, even those you have "agreed with" have been with the condescension that they "dont really understand", you haven't balanced anything out and still can't see the bias in what your promoting.

I'm not a fan of trump, I dunno, maybe Im just being contrarian, but this whipping up the rhetoric is kinda proving why Trump won

I'm hoping there will be at least a partial transcript of that Trump speech to the military somewhere.

I tend not to watch him actually speak, so I can separate the words from the whole schtick of delivery.

I appreciate this loses almost all of the actual message he's delivering.Grin As someone said above, he's not giving out facts, just a shot of endorphins.

TBF - given the past 2 weeks, Trump has pretty much whipped up a lot of rhetoric....

Now I note the wresting event in Iraq (Iran? Sorry - distracted, can't remember which it was) is allowing the US to compete again. Assuming if the ban goes back on again that they will again withdraw the invitation for them to compete? Would they then be put through the extra vetting on arrival as they'd just been to that country, even though they are US citizens??

I'm hoping for the transcripts of the calls to Aus and Mexico. They've been leaked, can't find them yet though, they'll be shocking.
