I give up.
My only excuse is that I've had Wine

BiglyBadgers · 04/02/2017 20:23

Sorry... That post was a bit of a brain dump and thinking aloud. Obviously I have nothing to back up that speculation

GingerIvy · 04/02/2017 20:25

Well, if you'll recall, Charles Manson was trying to kick off a revolution/race war too. That didn't work out so well either. It was, of course, on a whole different scale (and fueled by a lot of illegal drugs).

Trump's tweets are both malevolent and excruciatingly dumb. He comes off sounding lie a pro wrestling bad guy from 1965.

GingerIvy · 04/02/2017 20:27

I'll admit I do wonder at the intelligence of people thinking the protests are bankrolled. Seriously???

I think what I'm trying to get at about Pence is this: I'm not sure he's human. He looks like a replicant.

BiglyBadgers · 04/02/2017 20:28

The thing is I don't think Bannon is crazy. I think he believes the end justifies the means. I think he is terrifying, much scarier than Trump to be honest, but horribly, horribly sane.

GingerIvy · 04/02/2017 20:29

From what I understand (and it's limited, I'll admit), they are not much better. Frying pan to fire?

The billionaire resistance against Donald Trump is beginning

PacificDogwod · 04/02/2017 20:29

Yes, Bigly, I agree.

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 04/02/2017 20:29

Cozie "There's also, apparently, a belief that the man is such an intellectual powerhouse that he will naturally sway the other Associates so might carry more weight than the single seat might suggest."

I'd have said the other 8 were all intellectual powerhouses in their own right. You just don't get to be a supreme court judge unless you are. (BTW, I loved that the last of those "dress like a woman" tweets was a picture of Ruth Bader Ginsberg in her supreme court robes. Hero worship moment!)

amispartacus · 04/02/2017 20:31

I assume people know about the Prevent programme - a way people are supposed to report people if there is a risk of radicalisation.

It can cause issues.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/jan/27/bedfordshire-local-education-authority-admits-racial-discrimination-brothers-toy-gun-school-police?CMP=share_btn_tw

Maybe Trump should be referred - he is causing others to become radicalised.

There is a Sandy Hook conspiracy theory thread on MN at the moment. It's going to be taken down, but Trump's support of people like Alex Jones has real consequences. I would have thought that this kind of stuff would be on Breitbart, not MN.

GingerIvy · 04/02/2017 20:31

I can't see Pence being in with Bannon though. It's possible, I suppose. But I see Pence as thinking he's the whole package - the front man and the brain - whereas Trump is happy to be the front man and let someone else do the thinking.

I think if Bannon got more publicity than Trump, then Trump would become disillusioned very quickly with Bannon.
Maybe the journalists need a few "President Bannon" headlines.....

PacificDogwod · 04/02/2017 20:36

The Koch brothers mounting a defensive move does not surprise me in the least.
I don't find it reassuring, but I suspect that Trump will be taken down by his own kind.
I despair at the millions who voted for him to stick it to the 'Establishment' when what they got/are getting are self-serving, greedy billionaires, Trump or Koch or whoever.

If the evidence of 70 gazillion flies worldwide were correct, then shite tastes delicious.
Just because lots of people voted for him, does not make him a Man Of The People.

Erm no, Bannon hardly candidate for master race; but then Hitler wasn't exactly up there either. Amazing bit of [cognitive] dissonance his banging on about the Aryans & privileging the blond-haired, blue-eyed while pushing his dark hair out of his brown eyes...

amispartacus · 04/02/2017 20:37

‘Extremism’ is defined in the 2011 Prevent strategy as vocal or active opposition to fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.
We also include in our definition of extremism calls for the death of members of our armed forces, whether in this country or overseas.

Yes, indeed.
Yet, The People voted for him.
He was democratically elected.
I have reached the conclusion that while individuals can be amazing, The People as a mass are idiots. And dangerous with it.
