SenecaFalls great news that it's being covered there.

cozietoesie · 04/02/2017 19:15

I've never been more admiring of those adults who went through the Cuban Missile Crisis with a smile on their lips and a tender touch for their kids. They must have been scared almost out of their wits.

It's pretty straightforward, Destiny. Here's an example:

Some of the comments are funny, folks begging the UK to let him come to give us a break for a few days, sort of like a challenging toddler being handed off to grandparents.

Recent errors in Whitehouse press releases.

See also not being able to spell Theresa.

Is this the WH resistance fighting back, or are they just really incompetent?

Well, his mother was from the UK. Surely something in that EO could be used to prevent him re-entering the US? After all, plenty of UK based terrorists - is it safe to let somebody back in when they clearly have links to such a dangerous country?

Newsweek Article questions Trump's ability to distinguish between fantasy & reality: www.newsweek.com/trump-difference-truth-lies-552292

(Is v helpful that I can sleep a migraine off for the afternoon & come back & check in to see if Trump has blown up North Korea for the craic. TBH, in event of global nuclear war I'd not be waking up: I'm in the bit of London that is meant to be wiped out immediately. As if not having the bastard tube wasn't bad enough. (Actually, vastly preferable, let's face it. Lingering death from radiation poisoning that awaits those living close to the capital doesn't exactly appeal. Nor does death from one of my medical conditions having to be left untreated in post-apocalyptic world. Well, that got dark quickly, didn't it...?)

Destinysdaughter · 04/02/2017 19:35

Liked this comment underneath article about anti Trump demo:

More people protesting in London against Trumputin than attend his so-called inauguration!

:)

ZebraOwl · 04/02/2017 19:37

So quickly, in fact, that I forgot what I was writing & how to punctuate it. Admittedly, I have barely woken up & caught up. And can't really see out of one eye. But still. Standards & all that.

Interesting article by Robert Radosh from last year in which he alleges a meeting with the former Editor of Breitbart at a party and was told - by him - that he was a Leninist who, in his alleged own words, said:

“Lenin,” he answered, “wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal too. I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.” Bannon was employing Lenin’s strategy for Tea Party populist goals. He included in that group the Republican and Democratic Parties, as well as the traditional conservative press.

Ho Hum.

ZebraOwl · 04/02/2017 19:50

They're even promising peace, land & bread. (Well, not land in the same sense, obviously. But you could look at That Bastard Wall & other America First shite as fulfilling the Land part...)

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/02/2017 19:51

Radio 4 had a fifteen-minute profile of Neil Gorsuch earlier.

Was interesting.

woman12345 · 04/02/2017 19:51

Well, Lenin also put into place people's soviets and free healthcare and education, and equal rights for women. Grin Is Bannon deliberately misrepresenting Lenin?
Here in Britain, we have our own Bannon called Arron Banks, similar aims. Bankrolls UKIP.

cozietoesie · 04/02/2017 19:56

It's only an article, woman - and Radosh could be held to be coming from his own place in making the allegation. Who can tell, eh?

Lweji · 04/02/2017 20:05

What do you think is Comrade Bannon ultimate goal, then? A New Order?

bestcatintheworld · 04/02/2017 20:05

Nothing important to add but just wanted to say, I too have now subscribed to the failing NY Times, just to piss him off.

My personal Things Could Be Worse mantra is "At Least I Don't Have To Change Lenin's Tie".

That was an actual job, when his preserved corpse was on display. Not sure how often it was done exactly. I mean, it's not like they were popping him in a novelty number for Christmas. Sadly. But can you imagine how stressful that task would be? As well as how squicky. I mean, I assume not-so-squicksome for those assigned to it, but the idea of it gives me more than the creeps.

PacificDogwod · 04/02/2017 20:16

olks begging the UK to let him come to give us a break for a few days, sort of like a challenging toddler being handed off to grandparents.

Yes, I get that sentiment Grin

I'm glad the London March is being reported in the US.

I know many in the Fourth Estate are working hard to report True News and Hard Facts and I thank them all Thanks
We've need proper reporting and investigative journalism really quite badly just now.

cozietoesie · 04/02/2017 20:19

Interesting, Bore. Thank you.

There's also, apparently, a belief that the man is such an intellectual powerhouse that he will naturally sway the other Associates so might carry more weight than the single seat might suggest.

I guess we'll just have to see........

Is there any version of the Today programme with the 8.10 slot?

It's interesting... if we were looking for the "perfect race" ideal.. I can't say Bannon would be the first thing that popped into my mind. Hmm

PacificDogwod · 04/02/2017 20:22

WE also need journalist who have some grasp on grammar.... Blush

BiglyBadgers · 04/02/2017 20:22

I can see the Leninist Maxist principles in what Bannon is doing sort off. His actions make sense if he believes that change can only come from great conflict and a populist uprising of the people. It just seems that he views the unltimate change to be moving to the right rather than the left.

If you consider recent events on the basis that he wants conflict, he is actively seeking to bring down the state and create chaos in the belief that this will result in a form of revolution it does all make a perverse sense. Antagonising every country he can name, putting out crazy orders like the immigration one that they must have known would get halted by a judge at some point, all the narrative of not just war but civil war. It all serves the purpose of building tension and conflict in and outside of America.
