cozie I'm iffy about him. If Trump is that determined, I want to know why. The Hobby Lobby thing is not good re women's rights, and a number of reliable people have pointed out that he has a history of poor decisions re children with disability and education.

Lweji - it instantly dismissed a lot of protesters as lawless thugs in the eyes of those who support him. It shifts the view.

Just before the election there were lots of these posters put up in my local area....

It would be unlikely to get to that point (failure), I reckon.

I know that, Ginger. That's why I was recommending - threads ago - some studying of the Federalist Papers. I'm inclined to wait and see on that one. EP is going too far for anyone - even an 'originalist' to stomach.

Well, I hate to be alarmist, but the way things are going it feels like the options are impeachment or dictatorship. Martial law in response to mass unrest (he will claim is caused by enemies of the state) would be an obvious stop off on the road to dictator Trump.

The twitter rants are just getting worse and more alarming. He's like the mad uncle who gets drunk at Christmas and upsets everyone by mouthing off.

It's just difficult - as I said, there's been so much deception that I automatically question why they are pushing for him. And god knows why DeVos - money, I suppose. It certainly isn't for experience or intelligence.

I mentioned martial law over a week ago and was told I was being alarmist. (and yes, spelled it wrong as my phone autocarroted it ).

Now it's not looking quite so unlikely.....

And don't say "no sane person would do that..." as I think we've already covered that angle.

Decades before President Trump nominated him to be labor secretary, Andrew Puzder went to battle with federal labor regulators in a Las Vegas courtroom.

The year was 1983, and Mr. Puzder was working at a law firm owned by a famous mob lawyer and casino owner whom the Labor Department accused of squandering $25 million from his union workers’ pension funds on sham investments.

It fell to Mr. Puzder to lead the defense, which he framed in aggressively antigovernment terms. In his opening statement, Mr. Puzder told the jury it was not his boss’s fault for not paying back the money — it was overzealous regulators in Washington who had killed off a good business deal by intervening before his investments could succeed, he said.

“We should not be required to pay for the mistakes of the Department of Labor” and the union, Mr. Puzder said, according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
