They were booked for the New Jersey State Society's Garden State Inaugural Gala, which is a private event and has nothing to do with Trump and for which they were booked back in 2013.

The same gala was held in 2013. Christie is governor of New Jersey and he is not Chair, but Honorary Chair (i.e. he is just turning up like the Mayor cutting a ribbon, he's not in charge of anything). He was not there in any partisan capacity, but as governor of the state at a charitable non-partisan function.

And guess who was chair of the 2009 gala? Why, the then-governor, Democrat Jon Corzine.

I've been thinking about that wall again, the one the Mexicans are going to pay for. I think Trump might be telling the truth about that. Within four years America could be so 'great' that your average America decides the grass is greener south of the border.

It's a Gala that it's part of the Inauguration celebrations. And yes, four and eight years ago, it would have been for Obama.

It's a non-partisan event by a non-partisan society that is scheduled and ticketed for the event of the Inauguration of the President of the USA. It happens every 4 years and was advertised and ticketed before the election took place.
