As requested from a previous thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2823906-to-think-you-should-ignore-people-having-a-go-at-you-if-you-are-the-President-Elect-of-the-USA?

It's going to be a beautiful thread. MNers, who by the way are amazing, can contribute as much as they want.

In other words, we couldn't be arsed looking for a choir so asked my nearest college

..."and told them if they didn't show up, I'd hurt them next time we are looking at funding for our state college." (I'm assuming the state colleges get some government support.)

SanFranBear · 20/01/2017 16:49

Feels more like a state funeral!

That is so true... no one is happy, are they? Shouldn't this be a celebration?

amispartacus · 20/01/2017 16:49

Peaceful transition of power...

I wonder what they think of the UK. Out the next day after an election.

No ceremony. Just out the door Grin

I love the "average Americans saving us in a time of strife" - that 'drain the swamp' image up-thread says Bear Stearns got a £17bn government bailout (i.e. from the taxpayers).

Lweji · 20/01/2017 16:50

Trump looks all shrunked down in his chair, like a school pupil being told by the principal.

Posture!

Roussette · 20/01/2017 16:51

I can't cope with two threads at once so I'm sticking here!

HobbitTankard · 20/01/2017 16:51

Yes but coronations are quite big I believe!

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 20/01/2017 16:51

I mean't "cheeky fucker!" with my previous message, by the way.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 20/01/2017 16:52

I can't see Trump. Is the camera on him on a different channel? BBC1 is zoomed in on Chuck Shumer.

Spudlet · 20/01/2017 16:52

At least coronations aren't every four years!

Well, hopefully not, anyway.

Lweji · 20/01/2017 16:52

I've got ABC news live streaming.
I'm at, , work.

InformalRoman · 20/01/2017 16:53

Aaagh DS interrupted by needing a lift. Thank god for R5L - who was reporting crowds are about a third the size of the ones for Obama in 2008.

bialystockandbloom · 20/01/2017 16:53

This Chuck Schumer speech a tiny bit pointed with all the references to "all the people", race, religion sex etc. Love the ref to the media, ha.

I'm just remembering back how utterly joyful Obama's inauguration was - nothing could be more starkly different Sad

inappropriateraspberry · 20/01/2017 16:53

Pence must be thinking 'this isn't what I signed up for!'

Lweji · 20/01/2017 16:54

Is claig the missing one on the other thread?

SanFranBear · 20/01/2017 16:54

The man swearing in Mike Pence does not look happy about doing it!

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 20/01/2017 16:54

Who is the smily git to Pence's left - the white guy with FisherPrice black hair?

Spudlet · 20/01/2017 16:54

Pence signed up to be President. Of Gilead. Sad

amispartacus · 20/01/2017 16:55

Will Trump smirk during his oath?

inappropriateraspberry · 20/01/2017 16:55

Illegitimate think he's just security - happy he's on telly probably!

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 20/01/2017 16:55

Is that a Handmaids Tale reference, Spud?

Roussette · 20/01/2017 16:55

Isn't that speaker of the house... Paul Ryan? Grinning the whole time

Destinysdaughter · 20/01/2017 16:56

Wish it was like a wedding where the gathering are asked, if anyone knows a reason why this man can't be President, speak now or forever hold your peace!

Spudlet · 20/01/2017 16:56

It is.

inappropriateraspberry · 20/01/2017 16:56

Ooh another choir in tartan! Trump - you're still not having much luck with that golf club are you?
