to think you should ignore people having a go at you if you are the President Elect of the USA

Rather than having a go at them on Twitter and describing them as second rate actresses. Hmm

Otherwise some people might just think you're a bit sensitive.

If that's how he's going to react when people call him out on things, he's going to have a very long 4 years in the White House

It seems odd that the president elect, would have a very public spat with an old actress.

TopCat2017 · 09/01/2017 23:34

Where is Claig??

movpov · 09/01/2017 23:58

Problem is he has surrounded himself all his business life with 'yes' people and bullied or intimidated to get what he wants so the notion of aides 'calling him out' is alien; he'll take the view that he's the president and he'll do whatever he wants, and he's too stupid to realise how he is perceived. I'd be more concerned that as president he thinks he has the time to be sitting firing off all those tweets. If he thinks what Meryl Streep said is the worst thing he'll be called, well......truly terrifying person to have in the white house. I was reading that on Inauguration Day, tradition dictates the outgoing and incoming presidents travel together to Capitol Hill in the presidential limo....what I would give to be a fly on the wall for that journey

TopCat2017 · 10/01/2017 00:44

It will all have to change once he is actually POTUS, he won't be allowed an Iphone for one, everything he sends will have to be checked and passed through all sorts of departments for approval.

I reckon the fear all might end up being over nothing.

puddingbunny · 10/01/2017 01:18

It boggles my mind that he doesn't seem to realise how petty this makes him look? And nobody can do anything about it because, let's face it, anyone on his team with a modicum of media-savviness would have been fired or quit in frustration months ago.

Ah well, we probably have about eighteen months before the Republicans get bored of his antics and find some excuse to impeach him.

MadisonAvenue · 10/01/2017 01:23

I still can't get my head around the fact that he is going to be POTUS.

SundialShadow · 10/01/2017 01:24

The over-there toddler-elect should learn some self-control...

MitzyLeFrouf · 10/01/2017 01:27

The Republicans are probably already plotting his downfall. So many high profile party members, such as Paul Ryan, openly despise him and only got behind him at the final hour to ensure their party would grab power. No doubt some of them will be now be thinking that he's surplus to requirements.

Phantommanflinger · 10/01/2017 01:28

Of course but this if the orange toddler we're talking about.
Whatever cretinous little thought crosses his mind comes spewing out of his mouth.
His verbal diarrhoea knows no bounds.

SquatBetty · 10/01/2017 02:03

I'm quite sure once he's sworn in, his DonaldJTrump twitter account will be closed/mysteriously vanish. And he won't be allowed anywhere near the official POTUS twitter account. Can you imagine the official POTUS twitter account sending such cringe making pathetic tweets?!

I will eat my hat if he actually makes it through the whole 4 years of his presidency without resigning, being impeached or being assassinated. The man is an utter EMBARRASSMENT. There's just no other way to describe him.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/01/2017 02:43

There used to be a little bit of a tradition of not having too much of a go at POTUS because he (always he) was everyone's leader and therefore deserved a little respect because of the office. That was the argument used when, for example, The Dixie Chicks had a go at Dubya. The problem is that Trump said mean, racist, Islamophobic, inflammatory and untrue things about Obama. And now he wants people to respect him and be kind.

Fuck that noise.

Pallisers · 10/01/2017 02:47

I don't think anything much will change with him after he is sworn in. Interesting times ahead. Tweets replacing the press conference and free questioning by the press.

Has he had a press conference since he was elected??

Squeegle · 10/01/2017 02:54

For those who are saying he won't be "allowed" to do this on twitter, is that based on any truth? I'm really hoping that's correct, but who will tell him what to do?

Pallisers · 10/01/2017 03:00

There is no "allowing". People are hoping his advisers will stop him. But they haven't so far so not sure why anything will change once he is in the white house.

MizzEmma · 10/01/2017 03:06

I still haven't recovered from the fact that he saw fit to tweet about the Apprentice ratings following Schwarzenegger's first show.

Why on earth would the Presudent Elect even care ??? The mind boggles!

He's about to be "leader of the Free World" why would he care about a TV show!

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/01/2017 03:10

I live in the free world. He's not my leader Grin

Ledkr · 10/01/2017 03:53

Just looked! I can't believe it!

FixItUpChappie · 10/01/2017 05:04

I've never been so depressed about the human race TBH. I really feel honestly disgusted. There is a little taste of bile in the back of my throat. Fuck decorum - I'm glad she said something. How can reasonable people contain themselves?! It is not okay that this narcissistic, oily, ignorant fuck won an election. Not okay. That is my head space - not cool, not funny, not okay.

(eyes the disgraceful conservative Trumpites about to run in Canada's conservative leadership race with dread Hmm)

birdybirdywoofwoof · 10/01/2017 06:27

Those saying he won't use twitter when he's president have no idea.

Of course he will.

And anyway, twitter is just a symptom of the problem that is trump.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 10/01/2017 06:30

What I found most chilling was his denial of taking the piss out of the disabled journalist. We all saw it, millions of us, you can still see the recording and yet he still denies it. This is dangerous territory we are in now.

scaredoffallout · 10/01/2017 07:00

YANBU. He's a twat.

Qwertie · 10/01/2017 07:04

He's a child. Even my 3 year old knows his name; they're quite similar actually, although DS is a bit more sensible :-/

MrsHiddleston · 10/01/2017 07:07

I'm guessing the tweeting will stop once he is president. But his attitude on twitter is very telling. He's an ignorant, childish, arrogant, stubborn twat of a man.

SouthWestmom · 10/01/2017 07:08

What did she say? I got as far as her dribbling out a long list of birth places , got to Ryan Gosling and gave up.
'The most vilified people in the room' - Hollywood, the press and foreigners' when they are feted and sooo privileged ? Lost me there, Meryl, whatever point you were going to make.

Floisme · 10/01/2017 07:13

It could be worse. Caligula declared himself a god and made his horse a Consul.
(Allegedly)
