No. I don't think I am.

Farewell then mumsnet.

You used to be a place of interesting and feisty debate.

I will miss that.

Spero, I've seen your valuable contribution to many threads on here over the years particularly relating to your 'specialist subject' and I would be very sad to see you go,
I don't know what's gone on re your deleted thread, but maybe MNHQ have been overly heavy handed...they do sometimes act too swiftly and I have seen them admit that (occasionally).
Why not just step away for a few days rather than go completely, and email MNHQ about the thread, they may rectify things.
I do share your feelings on how impossible it is to have a decent debate on here these days now. Too many reactionary posters who wreck threads.
Wishing you well if you do decide to go, and keep fighting the good fight x

To answer the OP's question, YANBU to leave MN but YANU to start an AIBU thread about it. As others have said, there is a flouncers' corner for precisely tese kind of threads.

AndShesGone · 14/12/2016 19:05

It shouldn't be deleted if it's a continuation Confused we have loads of continuation threads!!!

tldr · 14/12/2016 19:07

It was definitely a continuation. The 1000thpost of the old thread was saying 'come finish discussing with me here'.

I'm stunned it got deleted.

EllaHen · 14/12/2016 19:07

Sounds like MNHQ got it wrong. Sounds like an interesting thread.

PurpleDaisies · 14/12/2016 19:07

I saw that-it didn't strike me as a thread about a thread, more a logical continuation (although I didn't read the first thread so I didn't post). Harsh deletion.

paxillin · 14/12/2016 19:08

You're asking MNetters if leaving MN is the thing to do?

Spero · 14/12/2016 19:09

Sorry, concert about to start and am stuck at front so can't surreptiously post.

Thanks for all kind words. I will probably stop sulking at some point. But it was VERY irritating.

They might delete you if you're a Previously Flounced Poster.

Didn't see the deletion but there is definitely weird decision making ahoy these days.

tldr · 14/12/2016 19:10

I'm irritated and I've had a couple of huge Baileys already.

CremeBrulee · 14/12/2016 19:15

Don't go. The thread should not have been deleted.

Is there a deletion appeal process? I feel we are starting to need one.

flippinada · 14/12/2016 19:15

Spero you'll be missed if you go, but I understand why. I for one have always enjoyed and appreciated your contributions.

Anyway, enjoy your concert Smile.

BIWI · 14/12/2016 19:16

Lots of new people at MNHQ these days, I think, who don't understand the nuances of the site. Making very black and white decisions.

And stop telling the OP she shouldn't have posted here. She clearly asked an 'AIBU' question.

PurpleDaisies · 14/12/2016 19:16

Is there a deletion appeal process? I feel we are starting to need one.

There's a thread in site stuff. That's pretty close to an appeal. Smile

PurpleDaisies · 14/12/2016 19:17

And I agree, some odd decisions lately.

nicenewdusters · 14/12/2016 19:18

I agree with pp who suggested taking a break, not leaving all together. I used to have a little sabbatical every now and again, when I got fed up with debates about MILs, workmen using your toilet and trolls. Love it here most of the time.

HOHOHOvariesBeforeBrovaries · 14/12/2016 19:20

Spero please don't leave. After I had my DD I had postnatal depression, triggered mostly by fear of social services "stealing" my baby (I was 19 and convinced they'd think I would be a rubbish parent), the threads you contributed to were exactly what I needed to read; you're the voice of reason MN needs when it comes to these "babysnatching SS" threads because I guarantee there will be plenty more younger mums terrified of social services, who value your contributions to Mumsnet more than you'll ever know Star

Iwannabelikecommonpeople · 14/12/2016 19:22

Looks like you are in demand on here Spero..There is an awful lot of bollocks on here but an awful lot of good stuff too..Like someone else said.. 'Too many reactionary posters who wreck threads.' and I never knew about flouncers corner..what a laff !!! off to look

ghostyslovesheets · 14/12/2016 19:22

I would like you to stay :(

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/12/2016 19:23

I hope you will change your mind Spero

You are much-valued by many of us. I was so pleased to see you posting again recently.

Wookiecookies · 14/12/2016 19:24

No idea about this particular thread, but I started an aibu earlier about relatively harmless threads getting deleted without warning for very minor reasons. I have to agree OP. Its really frustrating and if I am honest, if it carries on, I might be joining you.

lovelearning · 14/12/2016 19:24

Is there a touch of the masochist in Spero? Wink

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 14/12/2016 19:28

Spero, please don't go. (I used to be CinnabarRed; our paths crossed at university.) I would miss your wisdom too much.
