DD's first word (and still her only reliable one, although she has a go at others) was "yes", which she has been saying since about 10 months. it makes her a very amiable conversationalist.

my DN's first word was "shoes" and she's still obsessed with them now.

my DB's first word was "hot" (we lived in Yorkshire at the time, so he pronounced neither the 'h' nor the 't') and he thought everything was 'o'. It took us ages to understand why he thought the sky was hot, until we realised he thought the clouds were steam.

What about your lot??

Dd's first word was 'pussy cat' - she's still cat mad at 21. Grin

Her twin brother is non-verbal... however, once when he was about 7 he said 'Nicole' as he liked the 'Papa... Nicole' adverts. It's the only word he's ever said.

"Pep Pig" Hmm

Flingmoo · 15/11/2016 16:07

"Gone!" as in - the food on his plate is all gone Smile he kind of said it "Gonnnnnnne!"

wigglesrock · 15/11/2016 16:09

With my eldest it was a mangled version of the dogs name - the poor dog was from then known as Foofoo Grin
For my next two kids it was a mangled version of their big sister's name - dd2 was then nicknamed Lulu by dd3 for a good 4 years.

RhodaBorrocks · 15/11/2016 16:18

'Light'

Only it took him a few days to perfect. Everything started with a 'D' at first he rechristened the neighbour's cat 'Dim', which to be fair, was a reasonable assessment , so when he first tried to say it, he looked right at me and whispered "Die!" I nearly shat myself

By the next day or two it was "Dite" and with a little bit of repetition from me became "Light" by day 4 or 5.

DS1's was nana (as in banana, not a granny). He would still live on them if he could!

DS2's was DS1's name Smile

Daddy. Both of them ffs. He was at work all day and guess who was feeding cleaning and playing with them. But no, not a 'mummy' to be heard.

cosytoaster · 15/11/2016 16:35

I can't remember the first words for either of my DS's or how old they were at the time Blush

Sugarandsalt · 15/11/2016 16:36

Shoes. Seems to be a common one!

FeedMeAndTellMeImPretty · 15/11/2016 16:36

One of my DCs' first word was 'doh' accompanied by a Homer style face palm. He'd been at a friend's house for the evening and her husband thought it would be hilarious to teach him this while the Simpsons was on!!

DS1 was "dada" and DD probably the same! I have no idea as once you have three children you are lucky to remember their names let alone their first words

hazelnutlatte · 15/11/2016 16:37

Goggy (doggy). She still says it repeatedly every time she sees a dog.

PilkoPumpPants · 15/11/2016 16:37

Dds first word was Hiya, which was amusing as she was a very antisocial toddler.

Chrisinthemorning · 15/11/2016 16:37

DS was catcat, mine was catacatacata. We are cat people Grin

Soubriquet · 15/11/2016 16:38
