DD's first word (and still her only reliable one, although she has a go at others) was "yes", which she has been saying since about 10 months. it makes her a very amiable conversationalist.

my DN's first word was "shoes" and she's still obsessed with them now.

my DB's first word was "hot" (we lived in Yorkshire at the time, so he pronounced neither the 'h' nor the 't') and he thought everything was 'o'. It took us ages to understand why he thought the sky was hot, until we realised he thought the clouds were steam.

What about your lot??

LifeLong13 · 15/11/2016 18:55

chocolatecakemakesmefat · 15/11/2016 18:58

Dd was dad,mum and now sit it doesn't quite sound like sit though Grin

Frenchmom · 15/11/2016 18:58

Yogurt or 'gogurt' as he pronounced it at 10 months.

JaceLancs · 15/11/2016 19:02

DD was Mum although to be fair it was more of a M M - she used to point at me and say M M
DS was pop as in balloon - he was a very late talker and only had a few reliable words at age 4

WindInThePussyWillows · 15/11/2016 19:15

Twin 1 was Mama (mummmmmma)
Twin 2 was Hello (Aluuuu)

WhispersOfWickedness · 15/11/2016 19:17

Both DC had the same first word, which is the name of our cat Smile
Their first sentences are completely reflective of their personalities though, DS's was 'yes please Mummy!', DD's was 'NO LIKE IT!' Grin

CuppaSarah · 15/11/2016 19:34

Dd's was Cat clear as day at 15 months, she animals still
Ds's was Nyum Nyum meaning anything edible or edible looking, that was at 10 months he loves his food.

LaurieMarlow · 15/11/2016 19:41

Light or more accurately 'ight'

steff13 · 15/11/2016 19:48

My first word was thank you. #1 son's first word was uh-oh, #2 son's first word was duck, and the girl one's first word was hi.

Champagneformyrealfriends · 15/11/2016 19:54

Dd makes the "mama" sound but I don't think at her age (8 months) she recognises any meaning in it at all-it's just a noise she can make now!

DNephews was "Oh no!" Every time he threw something on the floor!

AnyFarrahFowler · 15/11/2016 20:05

My 9 month old DS said his first proper word today! He's been babbling "Da-da" and "Na-na" but today he looked at his cup, reached for it, and announced "Dink!"
So proud! Grin

hummingbird100 · 15/11/2016 20:06

Peepo, after the Janet and Allan Ahlberg book. Very cute. Not til he was about 18 months though, he got into books about then and his language really took off!

Toombumber · 15/11/2016 20:08

DD's was 'Dacat' (The Cat), and DS's was 'Dis' (This).

roseteapot101 · 15/11/2016 20:18

lets think ,grandparents dog started to bark at seemingly nothing so granddad told him to shut up our daughter immediately copied him =p

Imsickofnamechanging · 15/11/2016 20:24

Ds1 -'yuk' for milk, he drank lots of it.

DustyMaiden · 15/11/2016 20:27

DD1 mum age 5 months
Dd2 I want a drink and I want it now. Age 2
DS love you age 1

EsmesBees · 15/11/2016 20:43

Dd's was cat (aaaaat) but you needed the context (seeing our cat) to understand it. Her first word that others would recognise was bubbles.

Temporaryname137 · 15/11/2016 20:55

Loving these, so cute!

I swear DD can say every letter of the alphabet apart from M. She does it on purpose and is clearly determined never to say mama.

whispers haha, so true. My first sentence was "I don't yike it," which got used for everything from meat to having to sit down to my baby brother...

DS1, 13 years ago, can't remember.
DS2, 14 months, the dog's name and shoes. Very cute.

NotYetAYummyMummy · 15/11/2016 21:01

DS1 - 'quack' at around 8 months (lots of bath ducks!)

Chinks123 · 15/11/2016 21:07

Mama Smile She refused to say dada for aaaages instead calling him papa. Sad so long ago now.

hollinhurst84 · 15/11/2016 21:09

Mine was "shop"
BlushBlushBlushBlush

JaneAustinAllegro · 15/11/2016 21:10

Cat for one, miaow for the other!

No 2 came up with a corker for first sentence- "helicopter up sky" (pointing to a seagull, but that's beside the point!)
