DD's first word (and still her only reliable one, although she has a go at others) was "yes", which she has been saying since about 10 months. it makes her a very amiable conversationalist.

my DN's first word was "shoes" and she's still obsessed with them now.

my DB's first word was "hot" (we lived in Yorkshire at the time, so he pronounced neither the 'h' nor the 't') and he thought everything was 'o'. It took us ages to understand why he thought the sky was hot, until we realised he thought the clouds were steam.

What about your lot??

Ds was 'daddy'. He's been speech delayed so has only really started talking recently (he's 2.10) and I'm still waiting on 'mummy', he calls me 'bubby' , if I say 'who's your mummy?' he looks at me like I'm an idiot and say 'bubby is'!

Dd is 15 months and her first word was 'moooore', wanting more spa bol.

iklboo · 15/11/2016 17:33

One of DS's first words was 'careful' - he was a sod for climbing.....

attheendoftheday · 15/11/2016 17:35

Dd1 was dada (second word dog).
Dd2 was dog (second word dada).

I was miffed not to have got a look in at the time!

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 15/11/2016 17:36

Woof, probably down the the fucking yappy mutt next door but one at the time... Hmm

BoopTheSnoot · 15/11/2016 17:36

My baby said "mama" for the first time this morning (his first word). He's been saying it all day Smile
My eldest's was "hiya!", whenever anyone entered the room Grin

WombOfOnesOwn · 15/11/2016 17:36

My DS just revealed his first word yesterday/the day before! "Kitty." We weren't 100% sure at first that it was really a word, but he used it consistently and in relation to the cats (and that's what we always call the cats around him). 8 months old ... we are beaming whenever he says it!

Greengoddess12 · 15/11/2016 17:36

Ds1 dada
Ds 2 duck
DD1 no
Dd2 no

Love my kick ass girls Grin

Witchend · 15/11/2016 17:37

All mine said "mamma" first.

However dd2 learnt to shake her head to mean "no" from about 7 months. And boy did she use it!!!
Interestingly they all said "yes" before "no" though.

ButtonBoo · 15/11/2016 17:37

Dada - Mama - moss Confused. Think it comes from a wall outside our house that was covered in moss and she used to always stick her hand out as we went past in the pushchair.

Greengoddess12 · 15/11/2016 17:38

Ah Boop and womb good current thread for you Grin

LetitiaCropleysCookbook · 15/11/2016 17:39

I can't remember the first words for either of my DS's or how old they were at the time

I always feel terribly guilty that I can't accurately map the progress of my 3 ds early childhood. Other Mums amaze me with their powers of recollection of things such as this, first/last teeth, length at birth, first steps including location etc. I even get the weights of my first two confused, as they were so similar. Blush

I'm sure at the time I thought I would never forget a particular moment or statistic, but I'm afraid I have over the years. Sad

OrlandaFuriosa · 15/11/2016 17:52

DD1 was "duck" or more accurately "dut". She was in the bath and had a Jemima Puddleduck flannel.

DD2.... I can't remember Blush

SharingMichelle · 15/11/2016 18:01

First born said the dog's name first.
Second said "sister" (or some mangled approximation).
Now sitting here trying to think what 3rd born's was...

RicStar · 15/11/2016 18:02

Dd. Flower. Ds Car.

maddiemookins16mum · 15/11/2016 18:02

Ta (I think), closely followed by mumma 😊.

YvaineStormhold · 15/11/2016 18:03

DS1's was 'nana' as in banana.
DS2's was 'dirty' while pointing at the loo Blush

I can still hear their little voices and it was 17 and 15 years ago.

CMOTDibbler · 15/11/2016 18:06

First word we understood was 'no'. I remember it clearly as we were driving, and I said 'what shall we have for lunch? Shall we have fish pie?' and a very clear 'no' came from the back of the car.

paddypants13 · 15/11/2016 18:09

Dd's first word was cat. She was an early talker (and hasn't stopped talking since ConfusedGrin). She was about 7 months old.

Ds is 16 months and does make distinct sounds for hello, dd's name and ta. I think his first word will be hello because he sort of says allo.

Bluewombler2k · 15/11/2016 18:46

My year old (well year and one day) has a perchance for saying "no" a lot. Especially great if you ask her "what does N-O spell? Other than that it is mainly "mummy, dad, can"..oh a screaming lottttttts of screaming. Gnh
