To tell MNHQ that I think they are awesome

I've just come back from site stuff where MNHQ are taking a battering for reasons I can't even understand and I came via a thread on which Justine has taken even worse. What the hell is going on?

I wanted to let HQ know that this vocal minority is a minority. So who is with me? Let's have some love for HQ. No one ever gets everything right all the time so why should they be any different? Why should they be hurled abuse at because they made a call that some people didn't like? Or have an opinion someone disagrees with? Guess what different opinions exist and some people even respect others rights to have a differing one.

This forum is so popular entirely because HQ allow debates about topics other forms would delete and try to allow freedom of speech as far as possible by only intervening when absolutely necessary. They also let us swear. Because of this They also have to troll hunt constantly.

They do a brilliant job in difficult circumstances. Given how much crap I've seen them take in public I'd hate to be whoever deals with HQs inbox!

So shout out to MNHQ and night watch. Thank you for all you do!

Ha Manu beat me to it Grin

Manumission · 04/11/2016 10:47

I'm glad AF did get back in BTW, no argument there.

Yes but she was never banned if I remember rightly.

She was suspended and the confusion over the two words, was what lead to outcry.

Had the person who started the thread known she'd just been suspended for a week, due to being previously warned, I'm sure most people would have thought "Oh bugger that's a shame" and just waited for her to come back the following week.

Manumission · 04/11/2016 10:58

Well it's the huge outcry/kickoff/demands on HQ I'm referencing Worra, whatever the technicalities.

Good things sometimes come from kick-offs. It's either terrible to hassle HQ or it isn't. You can't pick or choose depending how you feel about the particular issue.

ZoeTurtle · 04/11/2016 10:59

Yes Manu but AF isn't here because of people hassling HQ, which is what you originally said. She was always due to be unsuspended - the hassling didn't achieve it.

Accusing her of hypocrisy (paraphrasing) isn't on.

roundtable · 04/11/2016 11:00

Yanbu

I'm always rather wide eyed reading the moaning and groaning that occurs in site stuff whenever something is changed in the forum and that people get so cross about it. Pop ups of porn - understandable; slight change to colours/layout - not so much. As previous posters have said, it's possible to state an opinion without being downright rude.

If these few vocal serial complainers are this demanding in real life they must find having successful relationships with people difficult.

Manumission · 04/11/2016 11:01

I didn't accuse anyone of hypocrisy.

I just think the 'nagging is wrong' thing has got a bit out of hand here.

MNHQ are lovely but they're used to intermittent shenanigans.

WorraLiberty · 04/11/2016 11:03

Yeah that's a fair point actually.

Those who thought she was actually banned, still wanted HQ to change their rules.

OTOH, I didn't see any demands or down right rude posts insulting HQ about it. They were more 'Oh please can you let her back' etc.

I think it's the rise in a nasty attitudes and rudeness towards the people who run this site, that's shocking a lot of people just lately.

Some people have been flouncing/threatening to de-register for a couple of months, but they're still here, moaning and demanding. Like MNHQ are their personal moderation team.

The mind boggles.

KayTee87 · 04/11/2016 11:05

Yanbu it must be a hard job.

As my husband says to me 'you're obsessed with that bloody website ' Grin

Oops he knows my username.

Manumission · 04/11/2016 11:05

TBF I haven't seen any of that. If posters have actually been rude to HQers, that's just not on, no question. They're just doing they're jobs and they do them very well and get it right most of the time.

WorraLiberty · 04/11/2016 11:14

Some have been breathtakingly rude. Including someone calling them cunts recently, because they refused to delete a thread.

That just wouldn't be tolerated on any other forum I can think of.

Manumission · 04/11/2016 11:14

their^

Manumission · 04/11/2016 11:15

And they weren't banned? That is remarkably tolerant, I agree.

AnyFucker · 04/11/2016 11:19

FWIW, the reason my first and second suspensions were lifted is because I repented and promised to be a good girl Smile

I have supported HQ, always, despite sometimes being on the sharp end of their actions ...

Manumission · 04/11/2016 11:21

Oh I'm sure AF

Nevertheless, it's an example of an occasion when pretty vociferous 'demands' were made in a good cause.

aforestgrewandgrew · 04/11/2016 11:25

MNHQ are ace :)

AnyFucker · 04/11/2016 11:27

I don't think the "demands" made any difference, Manu

Although t'were a strange time Smile

Manumission · 04/11/2016 11:29

What would Mn be without strange times? Smile

AnyFucker · 04/11/2016 11:32

It would be boring

00100001 · 04/11/2016 11:42

True!

The crazies that roam around demanding shit from a website they don't even pay to use are a constant source of entertainment.

I want them to show us their own forum website that they manage to run so amazingly well... Show MNHQ how to really run a successful website

Ginslinger · 04/11/2016 11:59

I felt that it was an important message manu Wink

WaitrosePigeon · 04/11/2016 12:27

You missed certain posters slinging personal attacks Rebecca's way. It was disgusting.
