To tell MNHQ that I think they are awesome

GrinchyMcGrincherson · 03/11/2016 22:03

I've just come back from site stuff where MNHQ are taking a battering for reasons I can't even understand and I came via a thread on which Justine has taken even worse. What the hell is going on?

I wanted to let HQ know that this vocal minority is a minority. So who is with me? Let's have some love for HQ. No one ever gets everything right all the time so why should they be any different? Why should they be hurled abuse at because they made a call that some people didn't like? Or have an opinion someone disagrees with? Guess what different opinions exist and some people even respect others rights to have a differing one.

This forum is so popular entirely because HQ allow debates about topics other forms would delete and try to allow freedom of speech as far as possible by only intervening when absolutely necessary. They also let us swear. Because of this They also have to troll hunt constantly.

They do a brilliant job in difficult circumstances. Given how much crap I've seen them take in public I'd hate to be whoever deals with HQs inbox!

So shout out to MNHQ and night watch. Thank you for all you do!

YANBU!

I don't always agree with MNHQ and when I don't I just say on the thread sometimes a bit stroppily and that's it, time to move on, same as a disagreement with any other poster.

I think it's lovely that on a site as big as MN, the people in charge spend so much time genuinely engaging with site members. It's a rare thing and I appreciate it even when I don't agree Flowers

I love MN because it's a place where it's OK to disagree and have passionate arguments and, despite all the deletions and trolls and GF, it's still home to some of the most intelligent, compassionate and best informed discussion anywhere on the internet and MNHQ should be very proud of that.

I don't understand why some people think they can dictate how the site is run. You have a free platform to say what you think and hammer out your arguments with a community of (mostly) clever, well-informed (mostly) women - which includes MNHQ. Use MN for what it's good for, or if you're so unhappy with it, off you go to the much better other place you have found.

TaintedAngel · 04/11/2016 00:42

There are hundreds of members here with hundreds of differing opinions. It's literally impossible for HQ to completely satisfy everyone, but they come pretty damn close imo. The work that must go in to giving us this forum must be mind boggling.

Justine who apparently has been getting the majority of the flak even had to deal with her own home being targeted with a swatting attack but she still stays and does her best for the website and the people who use it.
I think they should get credit where it is due. WineCake

Thisjustinno · 04/11/2016 06:38

Totally agree.

And the abuse and bullying they have to put up with is disgusting.

Totally agree and some of the personal jibes individual MNHQ staff have had recently is disgraceful.

Is it too early for Wine

Shakey15000 · 04/11/2016 07:19

Totally agree. Some posters are so entitled! As if we're major shareholders and insisting xyz action take place NOW. Or else.

Except there's rarely an "or else" action. Like moths to a flame Smile

Agree with AnyFucker. If you don't like it fuck off out. Or start and manage your own site. Or something Grin

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 04/11/2016 08:32

YANBU and thank you for starting this thread OP.

I genuinely can't understand why some posters stay here and continually give MNHQ a hard time, it's horrible bullying behaviour yet it's tolerated with patience and good humour.

Flowers and peace and love to all.

ZoeTurtle · 04/11/2016 09:10

YANBU

I think they do an excellent balancing act and their posts are always worded really well. I've seen a lot of bad moderating on forums and MNHQ are doing way better than most.

EdmundCleverClogs · 04/11/2016 09:15

On the site perhaps. It's anonymous and there's only so much the moderators can do.

Publicly speaking on a matter you have no idea about is a separate matter. It can cause damage, as many people pointed out on the original thread on AIBU. However, please continue to ignore that, it's not like it has any impact on real people.

PatMullins · 04/11/2016 09:32

MNHQ have been very good to me Smile

YANBU at all.

i luffs MNHQ - they call me Binary

ZoeTurtle · 04/11/2016 09:50

Just reading the Site Stuff threads.

Bloody hell. The sheer arrogance. MNHQ are saints for putting up with it!

Manumission · 04/11/2016 10:29

Oh you're having a bubble.

AnyFucker is only still here because of a famous and prolonged outbreak of 'entitled' behaviour in which MNers started bossing MNHQ around re their own banning policy Grin

WorraLiberty · 04/11/2016 10:35

I don't think that's true Manumission.

If my memory serves me correctly, AF was only temporarily suspended anyway (if you're referring to what I think you are).

However, someone started a thread because they mistakenly thought she'd been banned.

It was that mistake that caused such a hoo-haa.

crashdoll · 04/11/2016 10:38

I also remember it in the same way as Worra.

Ginslinger · 04/11/2016 10:43

I remember the ban and and it was one of the few times I've namechanged - in solidarity with AF (polishes badge and halo)

Someone started a thread?!

It was a whole week of people adding 'fucker' to their NNs and kicking off and nagging until she was brought back Grin

Which is fine. Kick offs every time the font colours change slightly is part of MN culture isn't it? I'm sure the endlessly patient MNHQers just roll their eyes and make gin cocktails and wait for sanity to resume.

I'm just bemused by all this po-facery.

So Ginsling, do you remember the ban? Wink Grin
