AIBU to think I should get the puppy?

We have a tri-colour beagle who is 6 months. I ideally would like to get another puppy and have been looking at the sweetest baby Cavapoo puppy. We went to a kennel the first time we bought our boy and have gone back to ask about the puppy. We chose the Cavapoo and have been in motions to buy it, signing paperwork and putting a deposit down. She has met our daughters and they talk about her constantly! But, I went to the breeders today to give her the rest of the money and she said that she wasn't going to sell her to me anymore because her niece wanted her! I said that we'd payed and she just refused to let me give her the money and buy our puppy. I can't tell my girls that we can't have the puppy anymore, they'll be devastated! I want my dog!

I would be really annoyed but I'm not sure what you can do. What paperwork has been signed?

Did the paperwork say the breeder reserved the right to halt the sale? If so you are out of luck, but you should definitely get your deposit back. Plenty of people will be here soon to say this but I'll be the first, lots of dogs and puppies desperate for loving homes in rescues instead of supporting unscrupulous breeders

Someone breeding cavapoos (mongrels) and beagles? Sounds like a puppy farm to me and you've had a lucky escape.

If they are breeding two utterly disparate breeds of dog in close succession, they are a puppy farmer.

Oh No!!! I hadn't clicked, they have licensing and the dogs are bred in completely different areas. It's a massive farm and I've checked the licence!! It's a puppy farm!?! Our other dog is fine. In all honesty, it is our choice to raise two dogs at once and if this is a puppy farm, I will be getting anotger puppy. I've done it before and I can do it again (had two puppies in diff country and raised them, one died of cancer and my S took the other one as I rented when first came to England and they didn't allow dogs). Rescues, I worry about because it's easier to train a puppy that hasn't had another owner.

Bloody hell, I just want my money back and my little Beagle checked over. Oh god, what if there's something wrong with him, what do I look out for?!?!?!?! I'm bloody terrified. He's the most gorgeous thing, looks like a normal beagle and is lovely mannered.

Whilst the puppies might be healthy ish the mothers certainly are not

They are bred from and bred from until she can't breed no more.

They are rife with parvo, and most puppies are very sick.

You'll have a new puppy and another going through adolescence at the same time it's a recipe for hell on earth if you ask me shuddering remembering ddog's adolescence I'd leave it at least a year before throwing another puppy into the mix.

From what I can see, we spent ages looking for our dog, they are all "back yard breeders" and puppy farms these days. You get the animal vet checked immediately and that's the best you can hope for.
