I know...I KNOW...I need a life . But AIBU to think the lie detector results are bullshit?

If someone is wankered enough to have a blackout, and not remember whether they had s/c or kissed someone else, surely they would be telling the truth, as far as they were aware? So is this actually a valid excuse?

Disclaimer: I'm working as well as watching. It's on in the background while I snuggle under the duvet with my laptop work in my very organized designated work area

Exactly. It's not just JK either. Those awful programmes that demonise people on benefits (poverty porn, vile phrase) are just as bad.

It was also my guilty pleasure at one point though I always go to watch it and remember why I despise JK. I was in hospital the other day and bored as sin and it's all that was on the TV, it was a 'nice' one though about inspirational children. It had a 8yo who was a carer for her mum and siblings, a boy who'd lost his leg to meningitis and a toddler with a skin condition.

It really beggars belief that JK has kids of his own, he was so patronising and spoke to them like they were stupid. He was really hamming up the nice guy act for the cameras. Just awful.

Aside from what everyone's mentioned re vulnerable people, one that got me angry was a bloke who had face tattoos. That's the only reason he was on, every millimetre of his face was tattooed. He hadn't been a wrong 'un, this was literally the only thing they 'had' on him. JK was vile, calling him names and saying he was stupid and should be ashamed and shouting at him. Who gives a shit if someone else had tattoos on their face?! As long as they're not pinning me down and forcing me to have them, I don't care, and I don't know why anyone else would either.

Although I'll be the first to say on the odd occasion there's been some vile men coming on, unapologetic wife beaters and abusers with their terrified wives and I've been only too happy to see JK tear them a new one. Rare though, and I live in hope that they do have good aftercare from the show

He's got enough skeletons in his closet if any journo really wanted to show him up.

I used to live in Birmingham when JK was on the radio - he did a late night radio programme on BRMB called Jezza's Confessions. Similar sort of stuff really but with added rushing out to bridges when callers were threatening to do themselves in

Anyhoo, he was known in the local nightclub meat market for going after young ladies. Blurgh.

Also BRMB did a publicity stunt where they got two random people who had never met each other to get married. VERY shortly after bridey ran off with JK. They have since split.

"Poverty porn" is one of the most awful trends on telly at the moment. Ugh. Where do producers get off on it? Just bloody awful.

I judge the people on here who admit to watching JK( your 'guilty pleasure' vom) far more harshly than I judge the people vulnerable and desparate enough to go on the show. You create the market for this exploitative shit. In that respect you are no better than JK.

I listen to a podcast called 'Undisclosed', and on the last addendum episode lie detectors got brought up and how they in the US they are often used as an interrogation technique. Not because they are 100% accurate but because usually the people taking them think they're accurate and police officers can use this to their advantage.

I was in an abusive relationship when I was 13 to 15. He was older and pure evil.
Speed forward 8 years and Im at home and I start getting texts and facebook messages.

He was on Jeremy Kyle.

He was playing the nice guy as usual. He admitted he was violent but only to restrain her apparently. She was the violent one.
Jeremy sided with him.

I know off this poor girl, she has learning disability's, had three children taken away from her and Is now homeless and on heroin.

Seeing the way Jeremy was all pally with him made me want he vomit.

It says a lot about Jeremy Kyle that he regularly proclaims he would walk 100 miles to see his kid, yet he has next to no knowledge about pregnancy. So he would walk 100 miles to visit his child, but pay attention to the doctor or midwife during a pregnancy appointment (or even attend one)? Nah!

I belive in Karma and exploiting vulnerable people for other's amusement is stooping very low. Hope Kyle's ex wife spills the beans on his murky existence. As my wise old Gran always says " don't worry my sweet they all get their come uppance eventually the smarmy buggers ".
Here's hoping that absolutely disgusting tv show is taken off. Also Kyle doesn't know if his kids will turn out to hate him for being a smug pig who exploits SN people

Also they lie about the pick up times for the studio so they say be ready for 9am and then haul them out of bed at 7 so they'll look shit and unwashed

I've heard this too, so they don't look immaculately made up like people usually do on TV.

I have experience of working for this kind of show...

Researchers and producers are taught how to emotionally manipulate guests. Most of the time guests travel down together and aren't actually fighting as much as we then see. A lot of people end up on the show not for the reason they originally rang (a lot of the time people contact for help with a reunion).

As far as lie detectors go I've always assumed they make a best educated guess and sod the outcome.
