I know...I KNOW...I need a life Grin. But AIBU to think the lie detector results are bullshit?

If someone is wankered enough to have a blackout, and not remember whether they had s/c or kissed someone else, surely they would be telling the truth, as far as they were aware? So is this actually a valid excuse?

Disclaimer: I'm working as well as watching. It's on in the background while I snuggle under the duvet with my laptop work in my very organized designated work area

I don't understand why people watch the rubbish.

mumofone1234 · 07/10/2016 23:05

I can't stand this show! It actually depresses me. I feel like slapping JK when he does that shouting down thing he does to guests. Who the actual fuck does he think he is? I wonder if he'd be so brave to confront them IRL Hmm.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/10/2016 23:14

"If they were in any way reliable, surely police/courts would use them rather than just shitty daytime tv programmes?"

Police use them in many countries! I'm not saying I believe they're reliable, but you have to accept that they're widely used by police in other countries, even if not by courts.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/10/2016 23:17

"Jeremy Vile then said something along the lines of "you can't get pregnant without intercourse". Erm...hellooooo! I'm no expert, but I was taught the complete opposite in sex-ed lessons at school "

Sorry, but I'm with Vile on this, unless you're talking about turkey baster stuff/fertility treatment. Someone claiming they got pregnant by doing "everything but" is like someone claiming they got an STD via a toilet seat. Maybe theoretically possible, but very unlikely.

CrazyNameCrazyGuy · 08/10/2016 00:28

"Can I get pregnant if I have sex without penetration?

Yes, although the risk of getting pregnant in this way is very low. If you want to avoid getting pregnant, you should use contraception.

i don't like JK show at all. why do people have to air their dirty laundry on public tv? and JK is just stirring things up for those guests on the show. making things worse not better.

IWasGintyMarlowe · 08/10/2016 01:02

i think it fuels prejudice as well because people associate JK show with people on benefits, living in council houses. it is encouraging the public to label and demonise the poor and there is enough of that going on already.

IWasGintyMarlowe · 08/10/2016 01:04

the majority of people living on social housing and claiming benefits are not troublemakers. JK can judge these people because he has hasn't lived their kind of life. his privileged middle class smugness makes me sick

PortiaCastis · 08/10/2016 01:23

I hope one day his name will be brandished on every newspaper and web forum for being the host of a very nasty programme.that uses people with LD. Hopefully he'll get his come uppance with a juicy bit of scandal
All those that judge always have skeletons in their cupboards yet find it necessary to demean others..
As I said I really cannot understand why people watch rubbish

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 08/10/2016 02:02

I've been in the audience I'm ashamed. What you see on screen isn't what happened on stage. There was a mother telling her son to grow up and get a job. Her other son was backing her up saying the other one took the piss. Then something came out about some fraud the mum committed when she was raising her kids alone. She'd been found out paid her dues and was now a respectable person with a good job and own home. Jeremy went to town on her. Calling her selfish and a criminal. Then it came out her son had been investigated for rape (her other son brought it up). She wanted him away from other family members. This was seemingly news to jez and the crew as they were flapping around like headless chickens. When the show aired they just showed the son complaining about being kicked out and Jeremy going to town on her. Watching the show you'd think the other son was just sat there for no reason. He wasn't shown saying anything. I really hope she complained. When we left they were setting up the Christmas episodes. This was in the summer. The audience were given hats and tinsel to wear. They were gutted to not be seeing any fighting. :o

WanderingTrolley1 · 08/10/2016 02:56

What makes me cringe is when children are on - especially those with any kind of illness/disability.

He has absolutely no idea how to talk to them and babifies them.

ANGELA446 · 08/10/2016 06:41

Well, sorry and all that, but if you are stupid enough to go on the show and expose yourself in public then you deserve all you get...

Jumpmom1 · 08/10/2016 07:37

What!! Not true???? My life is ruined. 😋😋

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 08/10/2016 12:29

This was back when the audience were allowed to ask questions. The audience felt it was very unfair too. Jez was nice enough but disappeared when the lights went down. We went to a Jerry Springer filming in the same studio (orange lighting rather than blue). The lights failed again and rather than disappear he shook hands with every audience member, told jokes and started an impromptu singing session. He was a star and so kind.

arethereanyleftatall · 08/10/2016 12:32

I never thought Jeremy Kyle was real.

I thought it was all actors.

It certainly sometimes is at least, as I have a friend of a friend actor, who had to play the part of someone's brother once.

balence49 · 08/10/2016 13:35

He is awful. Manipulative, nasty, and rather thick by some of the things he comes out with.
once saw it when an older lady was on saying about when she gave up a baby, as a single 16 year old in the 60s. Was basically forced into it. He screamed at her and told her she should have tried harder should have done this that the other. The lady had since had an awful life full of guilt and never forgiven herself. He was well out of order and it was uncomfortable to watch.

SuperFlyHigh · 08/10/2016 13:43

balenece such a shame poor Jezza is divorced now! grin

Comes across as very thick.

PortiaCastis · 08/10/2016 14:02

ANGELA446 It has been recognised that this awful programme uses people with learning difficulties, so your comment about people stupid enough to go on there is rather odd

SuperFlyHigh · 08/10/2016 14:10

It's a shame ITV don't ban this programme but guessing a big money spinner for them and they "don't care" re exploitation of people with learning difficulties etc.

It's opened my eyes to seeing it for what it is... I'm not a regular viewer but it is a guilty pleasure on occasion. Not any more!

AntheaBelveden · 08/10/2016 16:08

I complained to Ofcom about a JK episode once.

A girl had brought her sister on the show, as the sisters behaviour was causing trouble in the family.

The sister clearly had foetal alcohol syndrome. She had the distinctive facial features and was displaying a lot of the behaviours that go along with FAS such as drug and alcohol issues and high risk behaviours.

She struggled to understand the questions JK was asking her and she got slaughtered by him, her sister and the audience.

My complaint wasn't upheld which I am still angry about, this girl was vulnerable with a disability and used for entertainment.

Angela I assume this is the sort of 'stupid' person you're referring to.

deste · 08/10/2016 16:22

still at least it's better than Tricia who paid actors to go on - or one of those shows it said they did!

This is true because my DD's friend had it on her CV. She was paid to be an alcoholic mother.

AntheaBelveden · 08/10/2016 16:31

I'd prefer it if it were actors and not vulnerable people having their lives ruined for the sake of entertainment.

Oysterbabe · 08/10/2016 16:40

There was a particularly nasty one with horrific victim blaming. Details here
everydayvictimblaming.com/media-complaints/victim-blaming-as-daytime-entertainment-on-the-jeremy-kyle-show/

This sort of stuff happens on there all the time.

ClashCityRocker · 08/10/2016 16:41

A young lady who I went to school with was on it.

She'd spent much of her childhood in care and at 22 had had three kids removed by ss...she'd had a truly horrendous life and was very vulnerable - easily led and wouldn't say no to anybody.

Her boyfriend had bought her on because he thought she had cheated on him whilst he was in prison...which she denied. They wouldn't do a lie detector test because he'd been violent to her. Jk tore her a new areshole for 'not being a mother'...not much was said about the fact that he'd been violent towards her which was one of the reasons the kids were removed I've since heard and then they bought graham in for 'relationship counselling' ...as if they should be working on things rather than her leaving the bastard.

The boyfriend is now back in jail after breaking her jaw.

I fucking hate that show. It's as if non-middle class lives don't matter and can be picked apart for entertainment.
