Children in prams when they're obviously too big, their bottoms practically dragging on the floor, knees up by their chins! Children still in nappies, walking round with dummies/bottles etc!! Argh it really gets to me! I obviously don't say anything but I can't help but want to shake the parent when I see it even if it's a total stranger I appreciate sometimes there may be a disability but probably more often than not there's no need, often ease for the parents I think. One of the best thing about children is watching them grow and develop and people who don't encourage it really grip my shit!

I still carry my almost 6 year old on occasion. I like to think people think I am being all katie Holmsey and my son is my ikkle Suri. If I am pissing people like you off then win win!

my son was in a buggy until he was 5. He has a connective tissue disorder, sensory issues and possible autism. You wouldn't know that just by looking at him though.

For the record I hated having to take the buggy everywhere. Its a hassle on the bus and in shops and weighs a tonne with an older child in it!

Have you met my DS? He's not even two yet, but I've had people ask me why my three year old is in a pushchair. He's enormous, but he's still a baby.
I think you'll find this is the case for a lot of children you've seen, and even if it's not, is it any of your business?

I was a bit judgy about one of the school mothers who had her 5 year old in a pram until I figured out that he was severely autistic, he doesn't even speak. I felt like shite. There's probably a reason.

YABU. I have no idea why it would bother or affect you?

My DD is very tall and looks older for her age. Sometimes she asks to go into the pram because she gets tired. I'd rather let her have a rest in the pram than have to drag her round with me, her constantly complaining and wanting to be carried when I physically can't pick her up. And I wouldn't care if someone thought she looked silly in a pram.

Kind of want to put my dd back in a buggy just to piss you off...

You're assuming that in every case the parents are lazy arseholes who can't be bothered. Really? Every single time?

Oops obviously touched a few nerves... sorry I did mention I understand that there are disabilities that mean these kind of things are necessary for older children! I know/ have known of people in the past who use buggies because it's quicker, or aren't always very consistent with potty training when there's no disability involved. I just love watching little people learn and grow and develop and it makes me sad when it's not encouraged. This thread is just following a chat with a friend who said the same. Sorry if I offended anyone didn't mean to!

I do actually agree with you that 2.5 year olds are too big for bottles and nappies.

Saucy I feel you! We're just going pull up-less at night time now! Was made slightly easier by a fairy who came and took all the nappies away "for the babies that need them" and left a present in return.

What's wrong with using a buggy because it's quicker? People don't always have time to stop and examine every flower along the way!

Pushing potty training when they're not ready can cause all kinds of issues. All kids do learn and grow at their own pace and none of them need judging by ignorant people like you.

Being a bit daft aren't we Livia... I said I understand it's different for children with disabilities. I understand this because my niece is 8 and has to wear them due to a medical condition.

Well lots of people use buggies for children older than your narrow prescriptive view for their own convenience, because it's quicker. I know lots me included who used a buggy to get from one school to another to make pick up times for an older sibling. What you prefer they did? use a car?, be late?, pay for additional after school clubs just so you don't feel sad.

Mine was a big kid in a buggy because he liked to throw himself in front of traffic.
