To think this lady lives a depressing existance

The food can't be healthy and looks like vomit. Why would one want to live like this. I understand that people are on budgets but I think I would rather starve.

I honestly don't get this frugal lifestyle you only live one life if you have the money spend it on living comfortable you could be dead tomorrow.

Looks fine to me Smile It needs some protein with it though, the article suggests chicken or salmon.

She was homeless for four years, it probably stems from that.
How is it not healthy? It's basically a vegetable gratin, hardly cheap burgers and frozen chips.

Maybe she gets enjoyment from trying frugal recipes, to help people on low income. Her website seems to get a lot of hits.

So you would rather starve than eat what she cooked on a budget? You sound like a right dick, you obviously don't know what being really poor feels like.

It looks like chopped up veg with a bit of sauce.
Why are some people scared of veg?
Does need some protein though.

But this is too far, yes people on low incomes have to be frugal but not to the point of 40p.

I would obviously eat it if I was starving that was joke but it does look like its come out of a bin.

Yorkie my nan was a great grandma at 64, by the time she was 70 she had 9 great grandchildren.

Wow that is a rash list of fecking awful food not even a homeless person should be forced to eat. Let them eat cake and chips and massive portions of meat

I am not sure why MN has suddenly taken to bullying people who eat perfectly normal vegetable side dishes.

I think it looks horrible to me as I like my vegetables to look like are supposed to and I over cooked vegetables make me feel sick - the closer to being raw the better!

I think it's great what she's doing. Loads of people need to feed large families on small budgets and it's really hard. Someone who's suggesting easy recipes which are really cheap could be really helping lots of people. What's the problem with it? It sounds pretty decent. Not what I'd want to eat every day, but a decent, quick, healthy, cheap meal.

My mum is a great Grandma, she is 63.

There's a lot of sneering on here from people with extremely generous food budgets and money left over for luxuries against people who have to make choices about what they spend their money on.

I'd rather eat a 47p butternut squash dish if I were poor than Tesco value fish fingers or whatever

When you are on that sort of budget, it's massive win if you can make something reasonably healthy at that sort of price
Presentation comes last, after school uniforms and money for electric

When I was truly broke, lentil soup was a lifesaver. Didn't look fancy but you could stuff it with everything, it would be filling, taste ok, and had protein/veg

I'm also really curious as to what you eat. I know it's nosey, but that food looks tasty to me. My family would enjoy it. What do your family enjoy?

It must be really sad though to think people like her will never consume any luxuries, I mean i am by no means rich but why would you want to be so frugal, I mean say if you died tomorrow and you had lived your whole life always buying shitty cheap food, clothes etc when you had the means not to, whats the point live life to the full and this is not about people on low incomes who have no choice.

I love how they promote this as healthy . . . yet it contains a generous portion of double cream. Yes, it contains vegetables but there is a high fat content and no protein at all. If you look at her weekly meal planner it significantly lacks any sort of green vegetable (man cannot live on chick peas alone). I know I would be extremely disappointed if this was my supper . . .

I can perfectly understand how she's like this, given the history it gave about her; fair play to her. Fucking big cooking range she has though, to cook a one-pot dish on!
