I Know its a Failonline like but please read.

The food can't be healthy and looks like vomit. Why would one want to live like this. I understand that people are on budgets but I think I would rather starve.

I honestly don't get this frugal lifestyle you only live one life if you have the money spend it on living comfortable you could be dead tomorrow.

Ok, so how does this woman coooong healthy cheap good exasperate that problem? You're wrong.

greatscott81 · 28/07/2016 21:45

Okay377

There is a minimal amount of protein in double cream it is mostly fat.

TwentyCupsOfTea · 28/07/2016 21:46

There's nothing wrong with eating fat in moderation

ImWithHer · 28/07/2016 21:47

Because Its all linked the pesticides the chemicals and hormones in our food, Its only going to get worse when we leave as well. Yes this is not processed but its probably riddled with pesticides, fertilisers and stuff. This is all linked to health problems and obesity.

imwithher- you sound like a middle class scaremongering misinformed hippy with more money than facts.
Look at the stuff the put it meat the growth chemicals hormones,

Growth hormones have not been used in the UK meat industry for 30 years.

Pestilence13610 · 28/07/2016 21:47

scarlet you may have been on the correct thread after all.

cardibach · 28/07/2016 21:47

OP I don't get this: it amazes me people who can afford reasonably priced food but choose to go to Aldi
Aldi food is excellent quality. There is plenty of veg there, and meat. Their fish is almost all ethical. You sound like a snob.

Looks fine to me! All fresh ingredients.

You can get bargains everywhere though.

M&S near me has amazing discounts on food that can't be frozen and on it's last use by date.

DH & I had dinner for two tonight - M&S 'cook' range Chicken parmesan with vegetable rice which I made.

2 chicken pieces with toppings (same as photo before cooking) reduced from £6.00 (?!) to £4 something then to £1.35

Total meal cost about £2.00 so £1.00 per head.

It can be done!

LolBeansandSalad · 28/07/2016 21:50

There's nothing wrong with that dish, it's not a frickin Pot Noodle and I'm not sure why you're now banging on about processed junk. That's not it.

practy · 28/07/2016 21:50

I could afford organic meat, veg and expensive food. But I have read the research and I think it is largely a con. So I shop at LIDL, topped up with elsewhere, and make lots of vegetarian and vegan meals from scratch.

antiqueroadhoe · 28/07/2016 21:50

I think it looks delicious. I'd have some crispy bacon on the top probably. Good for her - far better than a ready meal.

LolBeansandSalad · 28/07/2016 21:51

It's like you've realised that you don't have a point so you're now trying to argue with thin air. Odd

TwentyCupsOfTea · 28/07/2016 21:51

You know what, try living on the minimum wage and get back to me. You've got no clue. Don't you dare look down on people who are clearly trying to make healthy food because of the shop they purchase it in. When you live on £150 per week (for everything!!!) get back to me. I've done it and it's fucking hard. You've got no idea. Her website clearly isn't for people like you so why don't you leave it be and click back to ocado?

ImWithHer · 28/07/2016 21:51

Its only going to get worse when we leave the Eu as they ban the extremely harmful pesticides and fertilisers. The endocrine disrupters in fruit and veg leads to hormonal problems in teenagers leading to weight gain.

BillSykesDog · 28/07/2016 21:52

I mean say if you died tomorrow and you had lived your whole life always buying shitty cheap food, clothes etc when you had the means not to, whats the point live life to the full and this is not about people on low incomes who have no choice.

But she says that she enjoys it, that it gives her a buzz getting bargains and making cheap nutritious meals. Not everybody gets enjoyment the same way.

Just because you get enjoyment from splurging doesn't mean that everybody else does too and lives a life devoid of pleasure without it. It's a bit narrow minded of you to assume that.

FeckinCrutches · 28/07/2016 21:53

Only get worse when we leave?
Bloody trolls.

Pestilence13610 · 28/07/2016 21:53

That article does not mention cabbage or swede.
So why do you wish to bully this lady and discourage healthy eating?

SheDoneAlreadyDoneHadHerses · 28/07/2016 21:53

TwentyCups

I hear you! That sort of cooking website, alongside Jack Monroe's site, and a FB group called Feed Your Family For £20 are helping me cope on £158 a week for me and my DS (and my bills/mortgage, etc)

goddessoftheharvest · 28/07/2016 21:53

I hope you have an allotment or a big garden op

That's the only way you can really be sure you are getting organic

Even then, goodness knows what is seeping into the soil from elsewhere

I suggest you boil everything and then sprinkle it with goji berries. It's the only way to be sure.

FeckinCrutches · 28/07/2016 21:54

Twenty she doesn't actually care about people on minimum wage, she's here to push her bizzare agenda about brexit and pesticides Confused

robinia · 28/07/2016 21:55

I really can't understand what the problem is with that dish. Looks delicious. Lots of colourful veg and even has cream in. I will put it on my menu for next week and report back.

goddessoftheharvest · 28/07/2016 21:58

The struggle is real. Walking round Aldi. Choosing the least mutated swede. Getting confused between Tropicana and Agent Orange.

Stepping over obese teenagers who only eat swede, Aldi is such hard work.
