I Know its a Failonline like but please read.

The food can't be healthy and looks like vomit. Why would one want to live like this. I understand that people are on budgets but I think I would rather starve.

I honestly don't get this frugal lifestyle you only live one life if you have the money spend it on living comfortable you could be dead tomorrow.

ImWithHer · 28/07/2016 21:31

I know but I fail to understand why those with money want to be extremely frugal it doesn't make any sense.

What on earth does aspartame have to do with butternut squash and savoy cabbage?

If she was spending as little as possible on seriously processed crap, I could see where you were coming from, but it's vegetables? You can only fuck them up so much

pearlylum · 28/07/2016 21:32

I don't believe it for a minute. The woman looks obese, whatever she's eating it's not doing her any favours.

SaucyJack · 28/07/2016 21:34

Heaven forfend somebody should actually like the taste of vegetables, or enjoy the mental challenge of low-cost cookery.

Have her shot.

Okay377 · 28/07/2016 21:34

I read the article earlier and thought meal sounded good! A filling comforting veggie bake (protein in the double cream too).

goddessoftheharvest · 28/07/2016 21:34

Maybe they have money but are saving for something else

So they live frugally by buying their swede in aldi rather than waitrose

It's not rocket science

God, you'd hate our dinner tonight. We had mushroom flan with spinach sautéed in tahini. Nary a sausage to be seen

Pestilence13610 · 28/07/2016 21:34

Cabbage makes sense.
Why waste money on processed crap?
Have you ever met landed gentry, they eat like this (with added game for flavour Grin)

lordStrange · 28/07/2016 21:35

It's the sort of thing I make for myself Blush Grin

I eat quite simply, always have.

MsRinky · 28/07/2016 21:36

It's just photographed really badly. Get a food stylist and a decent photographer on that and it it would take Pinterest by storm. Vegetables, cream, garlic, what's not to like?

seahorse106 · 28/07/2016 21:37

I had to laugh because the nearest Asda is about 16 miles away and as far as I remember there isn't an Aldi for about 30 miles! She must waste a fortune on petrol

Cinderbloom · 28/07/2016 21:37

Is there a lot of bread in that plan? I love beans / cheese / PB&J on toast - cheap and not that bad nutritionally but bread makes me gain Sad

FeckinCrutches · 28/07/2016 21:37

But this is too far, yes people on low incomes have to be frugal but not to the point of 40p

Well yes actually they do! If the money isn't there they will starve. Some Mothers go without meals to feed their children. Just because you don't know anyone like that doesn't mean it's not happening.

Any your 'reasonably priced meat' from your local butcher may be one persons food budget for a whole week.

You honestly can't be that naive? some people have NO MONEY TO EAT

TwentyCupsOfTea · 28/07/2016 21:38

I don't see anything wrong with her food. Her menu is similar to food I make. If you want blow money on nicely presented ready meals full of God knows what, go for it. If she and I, and others like her want to cook healthy food on a budget, why not. She's not cooking for you so why do you care?

ImWithHer · 28/07/2016 21:39

Eat well for less, I eat good Quality, I don't compromise on food the fact is cheaper meat and veg is not as good. Look at the stuff the put it meat the growth chemicals hormones, gmo diets etc etc. I know my meat is raised on a farm where the cows have been fed real food not given chemicals and raised organically. My fruit I know partly because of The Eu and because I buy top of the range I know its not been sprayed with nasty stuff. For my children I want the best I can give them and I don't get why others don't when it comes to food. I see so many teenagers that have health problems from the junk processed crap and I feel bad but also glad that my kids aren't eating that rubbish. IDK if you call me a snob

Shan't. So there.

FeckinCrutches · 28/07/2016 21:41

They don't have the bloody money to buy what you eat though! You are taking the piss out of people who might only have the money for one meal a day.

ScarletForYa · 28/07/2016 21:42

Ha, I remember this guy, he's a total TOOL!

Literally a troll.

ImWithHer · 28/07/2016 21:42

Yes but double cream is full of sat fat.

If you are so concerned about teenagers who have health problems why are you ridiculing this woman who is showing them ways of eating healthily for less money?
Snob is not the word I would choose.

TwentyCupsOfTea · 28/07/2016 21:44

none of her food is processed? Your question seems to be why bother cooking frugally when you can afford more, and I just don't understand why someone buying cheaper produce would bother you. It's a no brainier from where I'm standing. Her website might help lots of other people who do need to cook for s budget. She's advocating home cooked, cheap and healthy food, I don't see how that's a bad thing. She probably enjoys lots of holidays with the money saved!

ImWithHer · 28/07/2016 21:44

Because we as a country are eating so badly its absolutely shocking.

OP posts:
hotdiggedy · 28/07/2016 21:45

I dont have a lot of money to spend on food shopping either and I also dont have a lot of time to go and and buy food and look for those 10p bargains that other people seem to be able to find in the reduced sections. I do look at a facebook page which is all about cooking cheaply and its true, lots of the photos people post of what they have made never look very appealing to me and yet people post things like 'mmm, looks lush hun, def have to try that tomorrow'. Maybe they are just being kind or maybe they really think it looks nice. I wish I could find a website that produces genuinely tasty loking food on a budget!

goddessoftheharvest · 28/07/2016 21:45

For all you know, it's organic, chemical free cream, lovingly gathered from the free range nipple of a beluga whale
