My partner voted leave and lied to me

He was a Remain campaigner the whole time. Then I went on the shared computer today and he left an email up saying he voted leave but pretended to me that he voted Remain.

Are you Jeremy Corbyn's wife?

PurpleDaisies · 02/07/2016 15:35

What's the aibu?

P1nkP0ppy · 02/07/2016 15:41

Who gives a toss?
My dh and I voted Leave/Remain, no big deal.
Presumably he feared the backlash from you?

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 02/07/2016 15:43

Meh.

It's done now and we've all moved on.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/07/2016 15:43

So what? Dh and I voted differently, we always have.

Why are you convinced he lied to you rather than he lied in the email?

And does it really matter much either way?

ilovesooty · 02/07/2016 15:46

Not all people have moved on.

Can't see the point of this thread though. Deal with it.

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/07/2016 15:47

So he went out and campaigned for Remain and voted Leave? He's basically the opposite of Boris Johnson then isn't he?

GrimmauldPlace · 02/07/2016 15:48

Are you upset that he lied to you or that he voted leave? I suspect if it's because of the way he voted then that is probably why he lies in the first place.

Since when was it anyone else's business which way somebody votes?

thepothasboiledover · 02/07/2016 15:48

Bollocks

DonkeyOaty · 02/07/2016 15:50

what's your AIBU please?

MelanieCheeks · 02/07/2016 15:50

How do you know he's not lying on the email?

Anyway - he's lying somewhere, that's not great.

To some people, what way the other voted isn't a big deal, to others it's huge (I'd be in the latter camp). The way you voted says an awful lot about your views on society.

KissMyArse · 02/07/2016 15:50

Are you Jeremy Corbyn's wife?

Grin Star

shazzarooney999 · 02/07/2016 15:57

Daily Fail?????

PigletJohn · 02/07/2016 16:02

The Daily Mail are a bunch of lazy plagiarising numbskulls. Why don't real journalists get jobs?

VestalVirgin · 02/07/2016 16:10

If someone lies about an important thing, that's a red flag. If someone lies about something that is of no importance whatsoever, but that he also has no reason to lie about to spare someone's feelings, etc. then that is ALSO a red flag.
Lying about everyday stuff just because you can is pathologic and symptomatic of deeper problems.

Since when was it anyone else's business which way somebody votes?

Ever since the way somebody votes influences how other people have to live. So, basically ever since voting was invented. The vote is secret so that those in power cannot keep people from voting them out of power. It is not secret so that you can pretend the kind of person who would vote Remain while actually voting Leave.

I would run for the hills. Either he lied to you, or he lied to this person he wrote the mail to. And not only that, he also campaigned for Remain, thus potentially lied to a lot of people in a very blatant way.

This is all kinds of weird and I'd find it creepy.

NewUsernameOldMe · 02/07/2016 16:10

There is no AIBU so i cant say if YABU or YANBU.

Hughes32 · 02/07/2016 16:12

My husband voted leave, I voted remain. It isn't a big deal, well not for us anyway.

Pinkheart5915 · 02/07/2016 16:13

Daily fail is that you?

This somebody I know voted leave/remain and I don't like it type threads have been done to absolute death.

Lynnm63 · 02/07/2016 16:16

YABU to start a thread like this. Go away and get a grip.

mrsfuzzy · 02/07/2016 16:20

hello people are being hard on you for a reason, this is nothing to get wound up about in the bigger scheme of things unless he lies in other matters,

Benedikte2 · 02/07/2016 16:22

I guess it's the dishonesty issue that's upset you?
I think anyone who can lie to his DW about something as important as this is dispicable. Who was the email addressed to? If it was to somebody you know who now knows he lied to you, that's pretty humiliating and compounds his bad behaviour

mrsfuzzy · 02/07/2016 16:23

i think i'd be more bothered that he 'confessed' online, can you not talk to each other ?

YourPerception · 02/07/2016 16:25

Is he a political party member? I suspect some other members votes leave on the quiet whilst campaigning IN. Hmm

I guess the lunch mob is as bad as a liar. Why do people bully others for one singular x? We had the same right to vote. You can't control another person.
