To wonder if anyone has truly spat out a drink while reading a thread

What the title says really. Anyone has actually, literally, in real life, spat out their drink while reading Mumsnet?

Now, Mumsnet has had me amused on occasion, granted, I've probably chuckled or snorted audibly a couple of times too.

But I've never 'sprayed my drink all over the keyboard'. Am I missing out?!

I did choke on my porridge yesterday whilst reading the 'walla!' instead of 'voila!'

Cunties · 01/06/2016 14:26

On the make do/due thread

Theimpossiblegirl · 01/06/2016 14:27

I've snorted a bit out of my nose. :)

SuffolkNWhat · 01/06/2016 14:28

Snorted it out of my nose before. In my defence I was drunk and it was a certain NYE WinkGrin

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 01/06/2016 14:28

I've had tea come out of nose.

Hurts.

WorraLiberty · 01/06/2016 14:28

Not me.

Then again, I've never pissed myself laughing, rolled around the floor laughing while my arse fell off, or been in floods of tears either.

I guess I'm missing out Sad

PollyCoddle · 01/06/2016 14:29

No never. But perhaps if you're somewhere where you're supposed to be quiet it might happen. You know how things were always funnier during school assemblies/ classes/ etc

Gwenci · 01/06/2016 14:30

I've never spat out a drink but I've laughed so much I've cried and couldn't catch my breath to explain to DH what had reduced me to a total wreck on the sofa.

Even now it makes me chuckle. An MNer travelling in a mini bus in the dark and rain demanded the driver pull over so she could rescue a hedgehog in the road. Upon reaching said hedgehog she discovered it was actually a large clod of mud. But being framed in the mini bus headlights with all the occupants watching, she felt obliged to gently stroke the lump of mud before tenderly carrying it to safety on the grass verge.

Still cracks me up!

MadHattersWineParty · 01/06/2016 14:36

I think that hedgehog one sounds very funny but I think I have inside laughter! Not a flicker on my face. I haven't had Botox or anything yet

Maybe I'm just joyless Grin

Once, yesterday when reading the Hemsley thread. I sort of pursed my lips and raspberried a fine spray of rooibus tea at the screen!

Then nearly drowned myself inhaling some when I tried to breath in!

Not fun!

squoosh · 01/06/2016 15:03

I had a snorty semi choke on a sweet once (possibly a Werther's Original) when reading something particularly amusing.

MadHattersWineParty · 01/06/2016 15:09

See, I'm trying to picture the full-on 'I just sprayed my wine/coffee/tea all over my computer' that posters say sometimes. But most of the time it's said after something only very marginally amusing! I can just imagine my DP looking like Hmm if I literally sprayed the contents of my glass over the computer.

Gide · 01/06/2016 15:15

Drives me nuts. I see it an awful lot on another forum I use and I can't imagine people are so easily amused. I think I've laughed out loud maybe twice reading forums. I think it's utter bollocks, I'm sick of seeing 'just sprayed my screen/keyboard' yeah, right, don't talk shite.

Never, and I'm reasonably easily amused.

I think the internet has caused 'humour inflation', so that something which in the past would have rated 'mild inner giggle' now gets 'ROTFLMAO', snorting wine on your laptop, being found weak and helpless with laughter on the floor by your concerned family etc.

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 01/06/2016 16:01

Yes.

I spat out my drink, and cried with laughter (on a train), reading the thread where OP's husband had come all over her university assignment.

squoosh · 01/06/2016 16:03

I've spat wine out in laughter many times when in the company of friends though.

glassgarden · 01/06/2016 16:08

a snorty semi choke
sounds like a wrestling hold:o

mizuzu · 01/06/2016 16:11

some comments have made me actually LOL but wasn't drinking

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 01/06/2016 16:12

I did snigger when I first read 'off you fuck cunty chops', still do now actually.#

The other one was when an OP was chastised to for returning to her thread quickly enough by an irate reader, OP's response was 'unlike you I don't press F5 like a demented sea lion', I laughed like a drain Grin.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 01/06/2016 16:12

Where did that rogue # come from?Confused.

BelfastBloke · 01/06/2016 16:14

Don't forget that humour builds, though. So if there's a funny thread, the single post that might make you spray will have been proceeded by an number of other funny posts.

Taken on its own, it probably wouldn't make anyone snort or whatever.

I've never sprayed anything, but I've made the bed shake with silent laughter reading a funny thread in the middle of the night. Fortunately DW can sleep through most things.

NewYearNewToads · 01/06/2016 16:14

I've nearly choked on a drink before. Does that count?

Welshmaenad · 01/06/2016 16:16

Yes, on a thread of men about my twatty (now ex) inlaws and their awful dog, someone piped up 'OMG even the dog is a cunt!' And I was drinking coffee at the time, and I spattered it down my (white) top and all over my phone.

Cuntydoggate, it was awesome!
