AIBU?

To wonder if anyone has truly spat out a drink while reading a thread

What the title says really. Anyone has actually, literally, in real life, spat out their drink while reading Mumsnet?

Now, Mumsnet has had me amused on occasion, granted, I've probably chuckled or snorted audibly a couple of times too.

But I've never 'sprayed my drink all over the keyboard'. Am I missing out?!

I snorted a drink up my nose somehow when someone wanted his wife to put her coat on and go and have a shit in the local pub so he could enjoy a bath in peace

I had taken a mouthful of Coke and started to laugh. It came down my nose, which hurt and sprayed the rest out to save myself from drowning.
I have cried laughing , mostly at ones in Classics

The live X Factor threads frequently make me do a mirthful snort. I've usually partaken in a glass of mead or two though.

No, never.

Mind you, I have also watched the woman in the chewbacca mask video without even smiling.

I've had a good giggle and I've been a bit breathless giggling but never drink spitting

I think I snorted once, I believe I have a gsoh but have never weed a bit, sprayed over my keyboard, roared with laughter or literally cried. Woken a baby (don't have one) have smirked a bit at amusing threads whilst others have apparently read the most hilarious pant wetting thing ever. Mass hysteria? I have to find it funnier/sadder/be more upset?
I love it. The responses tickle me and I may smile a little bit.

People always mention certain threads that was hilarious but I seriously don't get it.

Balonz is one example. It wasn't funny

Balonz, pb (not going to type it) Korean lady. just not funny. The is this lunch enough (rtft why aren't they making it?) Annoying things your parents do. Very funny because true. Not posters falling over themselves to be more hilarious than predecessors. In my non funny opinion.

I didn't think Korean lady thread was LOL funny - it was just one of those nice threads. I resolved to be more like EKL - all calm and cool, with the neighbours cat on my lap Grin

I have laughed out loud at posts where people are taking the piss out of trolls (not sure that's allowed anymore) - and by trolls I mean the ones that come on here (mainly feminist section) to be abusive to women - not the emotional vampire spin-us-a-tale ones.

The "teachers - funny things the kids say to you, it's a perk of the job right?" thread in classics, actually had me in hysterics, I couldn't breathe. There have been a few "funny accident" or "most embarrassing moment" threads that have had me in stitches.

Brian from Hull was amusing. Not least because he started his post in Style & Beauty.

No, I generally don't drink near my laptop... but I have been absolutely hysterical over threads before! I remember cry laughing so much my eyes were slitty and sound wasn't coming out of my mouth anymore. For about 30 minutes. My OH thought I was completely insane. I can't even remember what it was that was so funny... could have been penis beaker, or possibly the dyed pidgeon (years ago!). Usually it's not even inherently funny comments that get me, it's usually just something completely leftfield and unexpected.

Gwenchi - either you've misremembered the hedgehog story, or someone appropriated it and embellished it, or someone had a remarkably similar experience because I was the hedgehog/mud rescuer 😄
However I was driving my own car, not travelling in a minibus 😄

I have cried laughing at MN threads.

Andif you haven't been on the thread about teenage heartthrobs and seen the post about Auntie Pauline and her friend Jean waiting for the bingo to open - well, there's a live example of a post I actually did nearly spit tea all over the ipad at.

I once silently laughed so much at a thread that tears were running down my cheeks and I was shaking. One of my colleagues came over with a concerned expression and asked why I was crying, was I alright? I finally coughed out that I was laughing

The worst thing was the thread was very rude and I couldn't explain why.

I haven't spat out a drink but I have actually cried laughing, recently at the GCSEs for teenagers thread where I was reading some out to teenage dd and couldn't speak for laughing, they were very close to home.
The other thread was about funny things to happen at funerals which sounds totally inappropriate but there were some very funny posts and it is probably partly because it should be so serious that some of it was so funny.
There are some very funny posters on mumsnet, one of the things I love about it 💕

I've not done it on mumsnet but I have done it to DP once. Something he said particularly tickled me as I was trying to swallow a mouthful of cider and I accidentally sprayed it all over him. With mumsnet I tend more to be afflicted by silent but irrepressible fits of giggling in inappropriate places, like the train.
