Beach-ready 'down there'

mumoseven · 01/06/2016 12:38

Did I really just see an advert for some razor, where a woman was coyly telling a story about getting naked at a BBQ and was worried about being BEACH READY DOWN THERE?
WTF?

Well done the night shift!

OnALonelyShore · 02/06/2016 08:06

Grin What a result! Yay to all those tirelessly voting last night Grin 'ONatural' was at 8% when I first posted the link!

BigGreenOlives · 02/06/2016 08:07

Still at 68% Grin

situatedknowledge · 02/06/2016 08:10

Is it just a sign that I am really ancient that I'm shocked at the 17% going fully removed?

girlandboy · 02/06/2016 08:12

Yes 68%!
If you click on another tab "the complete hair removal guide" I found it a bit depressing that it quotes "hair needs to grow to an unsightly length" for waxing purposes!
Unsightly length!!? Pah!

lifeissweet · 02/06/2016 08:18

I don't know how old you are, LucyBab, but things have changed so, so much since I was a teenager/young adult.

I can remember at university having a conversation with some of my housemates about another girl who - rumour had it - shaved it ALL OFF! We thought it was hilarious and that she was weird. It was just not done. We would tidy up the stragglers for swimming, but it was considered extremely odd to get rid of it all.

And that wasn't very long ago. I can't remember anyone saying they did it for themselves back then - because it wasn't a thing and wouldn't even occur to most people.

So if you feel you want to do it - even just for yourself - that feeling has come from somewhere.

grumpymummy72 · 02/06/2016 08:29

69!!! Wink

sunbeamer · 02/06/2016 08:36

Here is the link to the survey again for those who can't be bothered to go back to page one Grin

"Waxing:

It hurts, but it works. Waxing removes the hair from the root so that regrowth gradually softens and lessens.

But prepare for the pain and the cost! You'll need to pick your moments to bare all too - as hair needs to grow to an unsightly length before you can efficiently wax it away."

So, I'm "unsightly", am I? Hmm Angry

I feel a Twitter/FB campaign coming on.

I am very tempted to get in touch and ask them why they think my natural body is "unsightly". Anyone else?!

When I was a youngster, young men were bloody grateful if they got to encounter any fanjo close up. What the fuck happened? Why the pornification of everything?

I have voted.

Just found this thread and votedGrin

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 02/06/2016 08:42

What aovely thing to wake up to thos morning! I think Ona LonelyShore deserves Flowers for searching out and posting the link to that survey. WS hoist by their own petard.

OutToGetYou · 02/06/2016 08:43

Oh my god, even their email address is insulting - a specific one for women? And it's not even them, it's their retained PR Co!

BluebellTheDonkey · 02/06/2016 08:43

And again! 69% Go MN!

Wow impressive. I'll squeeze on a few more votes before taking the dog out Grin

HemlockStarglimmer · 02/06/2016 08:51

70%

BartholinsSister · 02/06/2016 08:52

It's nothing new - Marilyn Monroe famously claimed to be hairless from the neck down. Some women just prefer it that way. I don't get the BBQ reference - is it a fire risk?

girlandboy · 02/06/2016 08:52

And it's hit 70%!

Normandy144 · 02/06/2016 08:54

Just voted! I will admit that if I go to the pool (which isn't that often), I do trim to ensure no stragglers but the rest of the time I'm hairy. I just can't be fecked.
