Beach-ready 'down there'

Did I really just see an advert for some razor, where a woman was coyly telling a story about getting naked at a BBQ and was worried about being BEACH READY DOWN THERE?
WTF?

Brilliant! I voted early on in the thread, was to see that 47% took it all off and a further 17% left only a landing strip. Was going to post a rant, then got distracted.

Hooray for the nightshift!

Here's the link in non-clicky form, for anyone who wants to C&P so it looks as if they navigated in from a search engine (not this thread)

www.wilkinsonsword.co.uk/women/favourite-bikini-style

It's not whether an individual chooses to depilate, it's the implication - that simply wasn't around when MM lived - that you are unsightly if you don't even when it's follicles that are covered by a bikini (because they don't list an option for 'just get rid of stragglers that poke out').

JennyHolzersGhost · 02/06/2016 09:09

Someone should tip off the feminist media like Vagenda and Everyday Sexism about this, if they haven't already. Anyone got a Twitter account and can tweet it at them ?

AuntieStella · 02/06/2016 09:10

I tried their 'what is the razor for me' but gave up at the first question, as it asks for your gender.

Not what you want to shave.

OutToGetYou · 02/06/2016 09:11

I've tweeted them. I'm not smart enough for anything really witty, but I've done a couple.

Voted

Had a quick look on the WS Twitter feed - haven't tweeted as I use my twitter for work and not sure a rant about pubic hair removal matches my audience or job title! But one of the first post is from a blogger who uses her WS razor to get gym ready - apparently I've been doing that all wrong too my essential gym kit is a water bottle and a I've had a cold a packet of tissues but no apparently to be gym ready I need deodorant (extra applied before working out), a razor ( to tidy up before going in the gym as she goes straight from uni or work), dry hair shampoo (can't have messy hair before doing a gym workout), lip balm, and concealer ( she's doesn't like to work out in a full face of make up but you can't go into the gym with no makeup on apparently).

Have just seen this thread.
Have voted eleventy million a few times!! Grin
I luffs you lot!

This shit gives me the absolute rage.
Women have now become convinced that any amount of natural hair at all is "unsightly" ffs. NATURAL HAIR!! Angry

In reaction to all this I stopped shaving everything about 2 years ago, fucking love it, this year I'm gonna dye my long and luxurious (longer than DPs!) armpit hair bright blue, just to draw even more attention to it!

Do you think I should tweet a photo to the team at Wilkinson's account, of my fully hairy legs and pits with the caption "this is my beach body ready, no expensive products required!"

BadDoGooder · 02/06/2016 09:36

Oh and someone upthread mentioned "fur oil" Grin

Where can I get it, my body hair will look amazing?!

ModerateBecomingGoodLater · 02/06/2016 09:38

Another vote, another fluffy chuff.

bananafish81 · 02/06/2016 09:42

Nice work!

I realise I am a massive hypocrite because I've taken everything off (laser), but as much as I personally prefer the feel, I would definitely let it all grow back if I'm ever lucky enough for all this IVF to work and to become a mum, because I wouldn't want any potential future child to think that it was normal not to have hair down there.

Diamogs · 02/06/2016 09:48

71% when I just voted.

TheoriginalLEM · 02/06/2016 09:56

i am hairy snd proud (with the occasional lapse into smoothness) i also don't shave under my arms and only do my legs if im likely to be exposing them somewhere other than the beach/pool - why should i??

Monkeyinshoes · 02/06/2016 10:02

More votes from me this morning. My jaw hit the floor when I first saw this ad.

I love how their Twitter feed has this ad on it and above they say something about getting "prepared for those spontaneous moments". So as a women I not only need to shave off all this unsightly hair, I also need to throw out the dictionary and accept I have to prepare for spontaneity.

AnyFucker · 02/06/2016 10:05

Banana, nobody is saying you cannot do what you want with your own foof

It's the implied body shaming that is the problem. That if you don't remove all your public hair then you are not an acceptable member of society and doing fun things is barred to you.

calisha · 02/06/2016 10:06

No need to worry about being a Hairy Mary at the swimming pool because I wear a boyleg swimsuit

No need to even trim knicker spiders

TheDailyMailIsShit · 02/06/2016 10:10

73% - round of applause to the night shift.

I'm closing in on 50 years old - if a part of me is luxuriously healthy I'm not going to cut it off.

DH wouldn't comment on the length of any of my hair, he's a clever man and apart from the occasional, "That haircut suits you," keeps his beak out of my choices.

Littleorangecat · 02/06/2016 10:11

Ha 72% just now.Grin

MerilwenRose · 02/06/2016 10:13

Hah 72%! I actually do shave, but that's a preference. I dislike the implication that I should though!

frick · 02/06/2016 10:14

Just came back on this morning to check as I have become slightly obsessed........71%!!

Hooray lovely women of Mumsnet.....proudly doing what the flip we want with our pubes.

DD just asked to go swimming....my bikini hedge and I are indeed pool ready.

PrudetheObscure · 02/06/2016 10:20

I WAS worried that because I'm stuck in bed I wouldn't be able to achieve much ... Thanks for the clicking mission.
