Theories about Bing Bunny

I really don't like Bing - I don't like his cutesy mispronunciations and the simpering ways of Flop. But my 2 year old loves him so I have admitted defeat.

But I'm wondering... What is Flop? What species is he? Is he a childminder? Is he Bing's stepdad who has sole custody after Bing's mum couldn't stand either of them anymore and ran away to join the circus? Is he a foster carer? Do Bing's parents collect him really late, after bedtime, because they work long hours in the City? Does he go home to a burrow at weekends? What is going on?

I actually love the show.

I do however hate that they make Bing say stupid words, that really pisses me off. So unnecessary, and my 2.5yo girl doesn't need to hear that crap.

Unlike a lot of people though, I love flop!! He's the best! I appreciate his calm approach to Bing's meltdowns and wish I could be more like that!

I believe that Flop, Amma and Padget are sort of like the kids' consciences. Not sure why they don't have parents or how the crazy Bing world works, but I like it.

Sula is a brat. Panda needs some discipline and Coco is a know-it-all. But I like Bing and Flop :)

I love Bing. Flop is the best! Mark Rylance has the most soothing voice ever!

HottySnanky · 09/11/2016 10:33

It's a mystery. I only let the kids watch it because I could listen to Mark Rylance all day Grin

Thank god for this thread! DH and I were talking about it this morning (exciting lives I know!) and whilst my lo absolutely adores Bing-I would gladly scoop my eyes out with a rusty spoon than have to endure another episode!

Where are the adults?
What the heck is the weird sock creature that is Flop?
Why does that bloody panda keep stripping off??
And when bing falls at the start and Sula says- 'he's okkkkaaayyyy' I get all eye twitchy!

Ah that's better!

Most of Bing baffles me but Flop does have fantastic taste in interior design. Mid Century Modern at its finest.

Tiggywinkler · 09/11/2016 11:07

Bing, Pando, Coco etc are all government-bred (hence lack of parents) super weapons disguised as giant interactive toys.

They are raised by basic beings (Flop, Amma) whose job it is to teach them enough skills needed to get through life as a military-grade animate being of destruction. That's why Flop is so calm and no one tells Pando to keep his shorts on - there'd be a catastrophe akin to the election of Trump if they lost their shit.

HTH.

It's a large free range abattoir - have you noticed there are no adult animals there? Only children animals... my theory is once they get old enough and fat enough, they become food for the Flop type people... they eat them.... no other explanation for it.

Cookiedude · 18/02/2019 20:18

My theory - Bing is obvs the younger (newer) bunny rabbit soft toy, while Flop is the older rabbit soft toy. Bing is a soft toy that is 3 years old so looks like a modern toy, Flop is 40ish so looks like what a 40ish year old toy, as in a soft toy that was made 40ish years ago, looks like, let's say a toy from 1970/1980, depending on how old he is. As Bing ages and younger soft toys (kids in that town they live in) come along they will look like newer versions of soft toys, so imagine a soft toy from i.e. 10 years in the future. That is why the carers or parents resemble the younger/newer version/child.

Ha ha ha

My toddler loves bing. I can’t stand the Whiney brat !!!

He’s meant to be a toddler so I assume flop and other creatures are carers for them. Ie nanny

Every episode has a moral

It goes over my head as I switch off when bing is on

And why does pando strip off his yellow shorts in the park and run about in his underwear

This thread has been great reading after sitting through the 28th Bing of the week. Some great theories here, particularly the one about them being abandoned soft toys
