I really don't like Bing - I don't like his cutesy mispronunciations and the simpering ways of Flop. But my 2 year old loves him so I have admitted defeat.

But I'm wondering... What is Flop? What species is he? Is he a childminder? Is he Bing's stepdad who has sole custody after Bing's mum couldn't stand either of them anymore and ran away to join the circus? Is he a foster carer? Do Bing's parents collect him really late, after bedtime, because they work long hours in the City? Does he go home to a burrow at weekends? What is going on?

I would also like to know the answer to this. As would my DH who asked "what the hell is that meant to be?" when he saw Flop.

I don't know what he is, but I'm pretty sure that Flop has an intense relationship with Valium. No way he could be so laid back otherwise, that rabbit is a total git.

I watch Bing when I'm in the UK but over here in Germany Kikaninchen is the equivalent and a lot more plausible. (adults acting with an animated rabbit)

Why is everything in flop's house too big for him, but the perfect size for bing? And its not just flop.. Its amma and padget too!

Why doesn't flop seem to have a job, but the others do? Does he work at the creche with amma?

Just how big will Bing, Sula, Coco, Charlie and Pando grow?

Who are the houses actually designed for? They are too big for both Flop and Bing.

Are there any knitted creature babies or adult animals?

Are the features of the knitted creature carers supposed to mirror those of the animals they care for? Eg Flop has slightly rabbity ears and a tiny rabbity nose while Amma has a longer more trunk like nose.

How come Flop has no legs?

Are there bigger cars for the adult animals to drive one day?

My biggest issue is why Pando sheds his trousers at every opportunity, and why no one reacts to this in any way!

I'm waiting for the episode that Bing finally finds Flop's limit. I'm expecting some sort of facial twitch, he'll go quiet and then out will come the hockey mask and chainsaw.

I like Bing. I think the children are bigger than the adults because children see themselves as the centre of the world, adults are there to assist them and are not the main players. I think Flop is his dad, by birth or adoption, who knows.

I can not stand Bing. I thought baby name was bad but my god. Bing makes me want to scratch my soul out and hammer it into the nearest wall.

I theorised it is a form of Purgatory. Flop, Amma and Padget, and all the other knitted gonks, are rudimentary containers for the souls of sinners. Their punishment is to inhabit these vessels and then ender the psuedo-happy world with its Scandi-style housing and take care of hugely irritating giant toddlers. Padget, lumbered with Pando, must have been a mass murderer or something.

The knitted condemned must never raise their voice, never harshly chastise, never appear to be anything other than TIP TOPPITY HAPPY! or they get another 7 years in purgatory.

I like to think of Flop as a possessed bean bag being used by Bing as a familiar.

I want to see that infernal creature murdered .....but alas, my toddler loves that damn show as well

I tend to nit pick at these kids shows. Always have done! When I was a kid, I couldn't understand why Pingu's dad was always ironing seeing as though none of them wear clothes

I read a theory that Flop, et al are aliens caring for baby creatures that have been rescued from Earth just before it was destroyed (a la the ending of the crap film "Knowing"). It makes the most sense to me.

I agree with Choccy - the adults/ carers are sort of featureless and like cuddly comforters because that's how adults appear to very small children: essential and permanent fixtures, but only interesting in terms of how they relate to the children. Not separate beings with personalities and features of their own...
