My dsis has informed me that I would be mad to book a Haven holiday in the UK since it will be full of rough people and chavs.

I have never been so I have no idea of the type of clientele.

I'm honest enough to admit that the thought of being surrounded by Jezza Kyle types is a little daunting.

There'll be dh and I along with our 3 dc and I just don't want to fork out a lot of money and feel uncomfortable and unable to use the facilities.

I hate judging people based on how they look/sound etc but she's been before and has really worried me!

Oh this will go well.

HermioneWeasley · 23/05/2016 19:50

Not posh here, but a friend went and said it had the roughest people she'd ever seen in her life.

Waltermittythesequel · 23/05/2016 19:51

Sorry, should have put that in quote marks as that's how she described the people there.

I'm not trying for goady fuckery here. I just don't know how to phrase it!

I don't think I'm posh either, Hermione but I feel like I'd be intimidated.

Maybe go to Center Parcs or something if you need to avoid working class people.

Missrubyring · 23/05/2016 19:53

I've been on a Haven Holiday (we're also going again next week) and it was nothing like that, I really enjoyed it, found it was very chilled out and everyone was really friendly there, DD enjoyed it too!!
I do understand that's just my experience though so obviously can't speak for everyone's ... and I wouldn't class myself as 'rough' or a 'chav'

anotherbusymum14 · 23/05/2016 19:54

Lol, what's Haven Holidays?

AuntieStella · 23/05/2016 19:54

We've been for the last two years.

Clearly I must be a scary chav

fusspot66 · 23/05/2016 19:54

I've heard some are quieter than others. As in, some are in places where the nature is lovely and attract quieter people.

ThatStewie · 23/05/2016 19:56

People who bang on about 'chavs' need to have a think about glasses houses and stones.

Myusernameismyusername · 23/05/2016 19:57

I've been loads and don't think I am too much of a chav. not sure
I think a lot of people do get the Sun vouchers now and maybe that's why people think it's 'cheap' so therefore will be full of scummers.
I have been to some horrible parks that were just not very clean or in a nice area (never forget the one by the landfill) but never had any trouble. Of course there are all kinds of different people who go there and some might not be upper class rich snobs. They usually tend to be families who like caravan/static home holidays and can't afford Barbados. Just choose one with nice reviews.
I can't afford to be fussy about a holiday. I don't mind plastic pint glasses and wet plastic chairs and Agadoo or bingo

OhMyGoddess · 23/05/2016 19:57

We've been a few times, on the cheap Sun holidays no less. None of us are 'rough' whatever that means Hmm

tryingtocatchthewind · 23/05/2016 19:57

We went to Blackpool a couple of years ago and it was fine, it surprised us. It's great for kids and a cheap way of getting a room for everyone.

Akire · 23/05/2016 19:57

You will get a mix of people but even if they are rougher ppl there why eould it stop you using facilities?? It's not like they spy middle class parents out and flush their heads down the toilet it's not school!

Yes you get some parents who shout that bit louder swear a bit more and dress in a way you may rise an eyebrow to but there will be plenty of normal quiet people getting on with it too.

It's snobbish to say that everyone there will be below par and the lions den.

Figgygal · 23/05/2016 19:57

It depends on where you go I went to a fantastic haven park last year with my mum, 3yo ds and 4yo niece it was in Dorset we had no issues with clientele and didn't see any trouble. I looked to go to another one and heard horror stories of cannabis use and stabbings and completely was put off.

Lilacpink40 · 23/05/2016 19:59

I've been to several holiday parks. I think it's 50:50 regular families vs. annoying loud families. I pay for above mid-range caravan/villa then use self-catering option to keep overall costs down. Go swimming early and avoid late entertainment. If you're out through day you won't be on site then anyhow.

BrianCoxReborn · 23/05/2016 20:00

Chavs and scum buckets must be doing all right for themselves if they all holiday at Haven. Isn't exactly cheap.

I've been to a few. They're great for kids..my idea of he'll if I'm completely honest (cringey cabaret acts, amusement arcades etc) but little one's loved it.

Off to Butlins in Skeggy in Summer. Have never been, but my 2 D.C. and 2 SDC should be thoroughly entertained.

Once again, far from a cheap holiday.

Myusernameismyusername · 23/05/2016 20:00

Personally I did not enjoy our stay in Hastings.
Dorset Park Holiday resorts/Haven at places like Lyme Regis and Weymouth have been absolutely lovely

MrsJayy · 23/05/2016 20:00

We had our own van at a haven for 6 years not rough or a anything like your sister said

PeppasNanna · 23/05/2016 20:02

Op, did you read your post before pressing post? Hmm

Jordan1990 · 23/05/2016 20:02

My room was robbed blind after being there 4 hours! Never again !
