I am BU. Holiday parks and 'chavs'!

My dsis has informed me that I would be mad to book a Haven holiday in the UK since it will be full of rough people and chavs.

I have never been so I have no idea of the type of clientele.

I'm honest enough to admit that the thought of being surrounded by Jezza Kyle types is a little daunting.

There'll be dh and I along with our 3 dc and I just don't want to fork out a lot of money and feel uncomfortable and unable to use the facilities.

I hate judging people based on how they look/sound etc but she's been before and has really worried me!

We are out of the park most days on day trips but come back for 6 ish for the kids entertainment then back to our digs by around 9 so kids in bed, wine out and tv or games out.

This is exactly what we would do, I'd imagine.

Funnily enough, my parents owned a static for donkey's years and then as we all got older we bought our own on the same site so for those of you continuing with the oh so witty remarks, you really are barking up the wrong tree. Simple as that.

We had to leave because of the type of people who bought places around us.

My (other) sister was hospitalised because she got a stray bottle to the face when they were having one of their many, many drunken fights.

I don't want to fork out a fortune for the same type of think.

Sorry Merd!

This will be after the safari where I'll single handedly wrestle a rogue lion, of course. Wink

I went to haven in Blackpool and loved it. Saying that I did see a dad kick his son into an arcade machine for misbehaving. I would go back though. I've also been to Center Parcs - there's definitely a better "standard" of person there LOL

Specky4eyes · 23/05/2016 20:17

Have been to a couple of parks - Devon Cliffs and Primrose Valley. Travellers were at our most recent stay and really stuck out with their behaviour. Other than that it was fine.

Waltermittythesequel · 23/05/2016 20:18

usual have you bothered reading any responses?

Any of the experiences posters have had?

I went to one once, lasted one night. Had a good look round the place on arrival and it was terrible. In the morning went into office to complain and tell them I was leaving (had 3 children) and found a queue of folk doing the same. One couple was in complaining about a theft! Got a refund with no questions asked. Does that tell you anything!!

wolfwhistleme · 23/05/2016 20:18

Haven Hols are fab! My faves are in North Wales, Greenacres I think. Gorgeous beaches, good on site facilities although I hate the games arcades and fab pubs in nearby towns.

CantWaitForWarmWeather · 23/05/2016 20:18

Usual I was just about to suggest Centre Parks. Grin

Yep. Try there OP.

CaptainCrunch · 23/05/2016 20:18

I used to work in a methadone clinic, haven was my clients' choice of holiday destination.

TheABC · 23/05/2016 20:19

I went away to Park Dean in trecco bay last month for a family mini break (heavily pregnant and just needed somewhere toddler friendly to stay). It was lovely, with nice facilities and lots to do on the door step. No rough families - just lots of normal ones relaxing by the seaside.

We have also booked a Sun break for Butlins next month. Fairly sure we are not chaos!

TheABC · 23/05/2016 20:20

*or chavs m.

SaucyJack · 23/05/2016 20:21

I saw Chico at Butlins once. He's actually about 85 in real life- but he gave it every last pelvic thrust he had. Bless 'im.

Erm.... pffft.... What's the right answer to this one?

I suppose we all have our own tribe, and if downing pints of Stella with the sunburnt Kellys and Waynes of the world whilst the kids line up dressed in their best Primarni to do the Macarena ain't your thing, then there's not much more to say.

Other than go to Centre Parcs obviously.

Waltermittythesequel · 23/05/2016 20:21

Is that an independent park ABC?

We've done loads and loads through the sun pre DS and post, i'm a 'non-chav' (i hope) - they've all been pretty decent. Upgrade the caravan to the best you can afford - some of the ones we've been in have been nicer than my house!

igglepiggleisanarsehole · 23/05/2016 20:22

I went to one once and thought I'd died on the way and arrived in hell

Alisvolatpropiis · 23/05/2016 20:22

I've never been but always wanted to go when I was a child. They looked amazing!

Now I just think it's a case of picking the location well.

Liiinooo · 23/05/2016 20:22

We are a very naice family, we go to the theayter and shop at Waitrose and everything and some of our best holidays ever were Sun voucher trips to Haven. We didn't even have to stop taking the Telegraph and buy the Sun, colleagues in DH's office would collect them for us.

I am sure there were people there who were not quite as naice as us, but it didn't seem to impinge on us and the pools, facilities and accommodation were always great. They are al3ays sited in areas with lots of things to do. IMO it was much much better value than the over-rated, over-crowded Centre Parcs.

cosytoaster · 23/05/2016 20:22

I suspect it varies from site to site but I wouldn't go again; mainly because the site was just too busy , eg had to queue for the pool for an hour then spend an hour packed in it like sardines before being shuffled out. Also the entertainment was on the loud side and wasted on me. Oh, and getting to the cafe, play area, reception etc required going through a really loud amusement arcade area, obv set up to relieve you of as much cash as possible. I have been to a Hoseason's site and that was much better.

PirateSmile · 23/05/2016 20:22

We had our last holiday there and it was great.

Waltermittythesequel · 23/05/2016 20:22

Is Centre Parcs really that different??

OP posts:
UnmentionedElephantDildo · 23/05/2016 20:22

I wondered how long before someone mentioned Centre Parcs.

And it's dominant sexual practice? As opposed to straight forward ward al fresco any old how (including over bonnet of car) in lesser/chavvier places

FarAwayHills · 23/05/2016 20:22

Chavs are not exclusive to holidays at Haven, plenty lurking in Spanish resorts too.

I should add that I've had experience of bothGrin

Liiinooo · 23/05/2016 20:23

previous poster made a good point about upgrading to the best possible caravan.

LittleNelle · 23/05/2016 20:23

Center Parcs is overpriced and boring so full of Boden types.
