www.theargus.co.uk/news/14508180.Bond_actor_Daniel_Craig_and_wife_Rachel_Weisz_spotted_in_Lewes/

He was there to be with his wife, but she was there for work!
shouldnt it have been 'Rachel Weisz and husband Daniel Craig' if they wanted to be specific?

OP posts:

He's more famous so it's a more attention grabbing headline to put his name first. That's all...

Seriously? Another of the perpetually offended brigade I see.

BonitaFangita · 21/05/2016 21:11

Daniel Craig is married to Rachel Weiz? Shock
What else don't I know? Blush

user1463231665 · 21/05/2016 21:12

People should tweet about this - unless we point out everyday sexism newspapers don't even notice

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 21/05/2016 21:14

I see what you mean OP. I think it's probably worded that way because of the recent info about him turning down 007.

It's odd that the restaurant refer to them as 'Daniel Craig and wife' though.

LobsterQuadrille · 21/05/2016 21:15

This isn't sexist - any more than it would be to say "Kerry Katona and husband (insert name of whomever it is this week)" or Katie Price and (ditto) ....

Daniel Craig is a household name; Rachel not so much, especially recently.

No big deal.

lavenderdoilly · 21/05/2016 21:15

I saw an interview with Rachel Weisz where she said she had bought a Mrs Daniel Craig sun visor for the car as in she thought it was both funny and something to crow about. If she's chilled out about it, I think we can be.

Littlecaf · 21/05/2016 21:16

It's the Argus! Does it surprise you OP? Local rag that gets it wrong constantly.

raisedbyguineapigs · 21/05/2016 21:16

I kind of agree OP, although it wouldn't have bothered me if you hadn't pointed it out. It sounds like she is just his wife, whereas she is a well known actress in her own right. Why not just say Daniel Craig and Rachel Weiss or Daniel Craig accompanied his wife or something? She's not just James Bond's wife!

PPie10 · 21/05/2016 21:17

Oh fgsHmm

Princecharlesfirstwife · 21/05/2016 21:19

In fairness, unless their marriage was fake she's not his 'wife' she really is his wife.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 21/05/2016 21:19

I think it's a very big deal!

Yanbu op - a perfect example of everyday sexism, along with all the posters excusing it or explaining it away.

whatdoIget · 21/05/2016 21:19

I agree op! Also, I didn't know they were married to each other Shock

HostaFireandIce · 21/05/2016 21:26

I agree - the most interesting thing about this is that Daniel Craig is married to Rachel Weisz - who knew?!

Mummamayhem · 21/05/2016 21:30

Who cares but my God they are one beautiful couple..

RufusTheReindeer · 21/05/2016 21:31

I agree op

Very frustrating

And with regard to the "explaining away...

Dh did this yesterday, tried to explain away an example of very young actress who was "too old" to play an older actors wife

soapboxqueen · 21/05/2016 21:35

Should they just not have mentioned her then?

witsender · 21/05/2016 21:36

I never knew they were married, every day is a school day.

KittensandKnitting · 21/05/2016 21:38
Biscuit
arethereanyleftatall · 21/05/2016 21:38

It isn't sexist.
It's simply 'most famous person' followed by 'less famous person.'

GarlicShake · 21/05/2016 21:39

It reminds me of the headlines "Activist barrister Almuddin marries actor Clooney." Which didn't happen.

MyAmDeryCross · 21/05/2016 21:39

Another one saying "I had no idea they were married".

GarlicShake · 21/05/2016 21:40

DH tried to explain away an example of very young actress who was "too old" to play an older actors wife Hmm Can't imagine a sensible explanation for that! Unless the character was intended to be a borderline paedo?

GarlicShake · 21/05/2016 21:45

I take PPs' point about the better-known spouse being mentioned first, though. The Clooney one annoyed me a lot because Amal's impressive qualities were quickly glossed over.
