www.theargus.co.uk/news/14508180.Bond_actor_Daniel_Craig_and_wife_Rachel_Weisz_spotted_in_Lewes/

He was there to be with his wife, but she was there for work!
shouldnt it have been 'Rachel Weisz and husband Daniel Craig' if they wanted to be specific?

OP posts:
NotBadConsidering · 21/05/2016 21:46

Rachel Weisz is not just an actor in her own right, she's an Oscar winner, it can't be remotely compared to Katie Price's current husband. So yes it's a bit patronising and sexist.

RufusTheReindeer · 21/05/2016 21:48

garlic

He wasnt being a complete arse

I said that the original actress who auditioned to play Leonardo Dicaprios wife in 'the wolf of wall street' was "too old" to play his wife even though she is about 10 years younger than him in RL

Dh said "well leonardo does look younger than he is"Hmm

RufusTheReindeer · 21/05/2016 21:49

Just a partial arse

RufusTheReindeer · 21/05/2016 21:51

Should have said " younger" not very young Grin

PaulAnkaTheDog · 21/05/2016 21:53

Fml.

inabizzlefam · 21/05/2016 21:59

Am amazed by how many didn't know they were married.
Think it all depends on where the famous married couple are in their field.
Damien Lewis and "wife" because of Billions, but she is more "famous" in theatre atm.
There will always be this higher/lower trend where you have actors married to actors. It all depends on which one is "on trend" at the time.

7Days · 21/05/2016 22:01

The title looks like you were implying his wife was a beard. But it's actually way more interesting than that. Rachel Weisz, eh?
I don't know which one of that couple I'm more jealous of

IthinkIamsinking · 21/05/2016 22:03

Ha ha ha ha
Have a Biscuit

DefinitelyNotAJourno · 21/05/2016 22:04

FFS. No wonder people can't be bothered listening to feminists when this sort of over the top reaction is spouted.

Fight the important stuff.

"this sort of over the top reaction is spouted. "
2 lines is over the top? is your household on Valium or something?

Iflyaway
I have one thanks!

FerkTheeesSheet
Seriously? Another of the perpetually offended brigade I see. -
hardly, but well done for extrapolating that from 2 lines

OP posts:
GarlicShake · 21/05/2016 22:23

Heh, Rufus, he made an ungainly recovery there Grin Presumably he wasn't in the mood for a discussion of Hollywood sexist/ageism?!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 21/05/2016 22:27

Never mind all that fuss about people moving their cars and gravel for the horses, on the same page is this advert

Very MN Grin

RufusTheReindeer · 21/05/2016 22:27

garlic

Funnily enough ...no Grin

I feel i have failed with dh and ds1 (17)

I am succeeding with ds2 (13). He wanted to know why there is no netball computer game, i said "why do you think" and he said " because netball is seen as a girls game and we live in a sexist world?"

Good lad Grin

(And i dont need anyone coming on here to tell that they have found one Hmm)

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 21/05/2016 22:32

To all those who did not know he was married to Rachel W, did you know he used to go out with Heike Makatsch?
Who's that you say?
Very famous actress in Germany but in the UK probably best known as Alan Rickman's secretary cum mistress who he buys a gold necklace for, making wife Emma Thompson feel ridiculous, in mumsnet's favourite film Wink love actually.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 21/05/2016 22:39

not ridiculous, foolish^ she says having made a fool out of her, he made the life she led foolish. for the love actually non existent fanclub out there

Sorry for the derail. Imagine OP they used him first as he is omnipresent at the moment with turning down Bond. But you are correct that women, even in their obituaries, are described by their relationships to men. Sadly.

inabizzlefam · 21/05/2016 22:43

You are overthinking this OP.
When she is up for an oscar it will be "Rachel Weiss + Hubby".

sleeponeday · 21/05/2016 22:43

Blimey, the THIS IS AN OVER-REACTION! crew seem significantly more vehement than the OP. Is it really that horrifying for someone to notice potential sexism and comment on it?

In this case, I agree he's just the bigger name. But it isn't as though sexism isn't constant. And you can't "fight the important battles" effectively if you don't also try to shift the culture so that new ones aren't created meanwhile.

NotBadConsidering · 21/05/2016 22:50

inabizzlefam she's already won an Oscar.

GirlOverboard · 21/05/2016 22:53

Erm, the Daily Mail had a headline a couple of hours ago saying 'Taylor Swift's boyfriend Calvin Harris involved in car crash'. Is anyone going to complain about that?

And I'd say those two are pretty much equal in terms of fame and success. Whereas Daniel Craig is a much bigger name than Rachel Weisz.

inabizzlefam · 21/05/2016 22:56

I know, I meant the next time, when it's all over the news and he has no work in the pipeline.

RufusTheReindeer · 21/05/2016 22:58

The daily mail online doesnt say that

I did wonder who the hell he was...having said that i would have to think about Taylor Swift as well Grin

inabizzlefam · 21/05/2016 23:03

It all comes down to which of then is "trending". If Cheryl gets a new tattoo sh comes on top of Liam, but if 1D have a new album out, he comes out on top.
Just think how Joan Plowright must have felt.

GirlOverboard · 21/05/2016 23:04

*The daily mail online doesnt say that

They've since updated the headline. This was the original one (or something very similar): www.ibtimes.com/taylor-swifts-boyfriend-calvin-harris-involved-car-crash-suffers-face-injury-2372184

Sunnsoo · 21/05/2016 23:04

Who Rachel Weiss?

RufusTheReindeer · 21/05/2016 23:06

girl

I see, maybe someone on here complained

only joking Grin

Think the daily mail quite often change tack
