To think eating cereals without milk is just weird

My dh thinks I am weird because I do not like milk on cereals as it makes them soggy. I eat them without milk and like them like this.
I don't like dunking my biscuits in my tea (soggy - big yuk).
I don't like the pastry base at the bottom of home made lemon meringue pie (soggy -yuk!) and leave it on the plate.

There is a theme.

I find "soggy" to be yuk and not nice.

Am I the only one?

Ds never has milk in his cereal. He has it in a cup at the side.

I have never thought about it really. That's how he likes it. Don't feel a particular way about it.

You're the opposite of me! I like warm and super soggy. One day my children will realise that putting your cereal in the microwave is NOT normal Grin

LottieDoubtie · 27/03/2016 14:22

Dry cereal is the only way to eat it.

DH made up DS's cereal in advance and put it in the fridge the other day

I was vindicated when DS wouldn't touch it...

Heathcliff27 · 27/03/2016 14:22

I don't drink milk at all so i'm even weirder, according to my DH, as i put a small drop of fresh orange on my cereal just to wet it. Sounds strange but works for me Grin

Fauchelevent · 27/03/2016 14:22

Only cereal I have with (warm) milk is weetabix. Everything else is way yummier dry!

I share your disgust of soggy things. I don't even eat gravy on my roast dinners. For cereal, you need one of these:

3catsandcounting · 27/03/2016 14:25

Joan - Grin- I have to agree. It's most definitely a bowl of cereal.

icebearforpresident · 27/03/2016 14:25

I don't like milk, as in i don't like the taste of it on its own, so never have cerial with milk and wouldn't drink a glass. But I will put it in my tea and have a milkshake.

I was in hospital years ago and one morning I forgot to ask for no milk on my cerial, and didn't like to send it back so I are them anyway, it was what i imagine chewing wet wallpaper is like.

lilygirl81 · 27/03/2016 14:26

I add the smallest amount of milk possible, just enough to add some moisture, but not enough to get soggy. I panic a bit if someone 'helpfully' goes to add milk before giving it to me

imwithspud · 27/03/2016 14:29

I eat dry cereal all the time. I've even been known to have the odd weetabix dry (willing to admit that that one is weird). But I do like to add a bit of milk to chocolate cereal. I'm not a fan of milk on its own.

Kleinzeit · 27/03/2016 14:29

I mostly prefer cereal with milk BUT dry Weetabix with a thick layer of butter on top is food of the gods Blush

cuntinghomicidalcardigan · 27/03/2016 14:29

My dcs both think dry shredded and wheat and dry weetabix are biscuits... they are 17mo and 3.5! In my defence, ds has a very limited diet and weetabix are way more filling than biscuits Smile

Lurkedforever1 · 27/03/2016 14:30

Milk is rank, as are all dairy products (except decent cheese) unless used in cooking so you can't taste them. Soggy food is also rank, so Yanbu. But if you mean cereals of the Kellogg's variety, rather than the muesli/ granola/ cereal grain form then Yabu to think adding milk is the only wrong thing, because cereals of the weetabix/ cornflakes/ rice crispies type are rank with or without milk.

Stanky · 27/03/2016 14:37

My dad sometimes likes to put fresh cream on cereal instead of milk. Strange.

areyoubeingserviced · 27/03/2016 14:41

I do what lily does.
I use the smallest amount of milk
I really can't stand milk

Sparklingbrook · 27/03/2016 15:15

I have yoghurt on cereal can't bear milk on it because of the sogginess. Both DSs eat dry cereal, they prefer it that way.

Junosmum · 27/03/2016 15:18

You are weird.

Trills · 27/03/2016 15:23

UK English: Cereal, MathS
US English: CerealS. Math

What's up with that?

My boys don't like milk on their cereal either, so you're not alone.

Unicow · 27/03/2016 15:36

I'm with potap. Dry cereal except weetabix/shredded wheat.

Sistersweet · 27/03/2016 15:48

I hate milk and I like cereal therefore have it dry, or occasionally with a blob of Greek yoghurt

DragonMamma · 27/03/2016 15:50

One of my DC always has dry cereal with a cup of milk. The other drowns hers. I'm in the middle but eat them quickly so they aren't soggy.

It's bowl of cereal here too. No plural.
