To think eating cereals without milk is just weird

My dh thinks I am weird because I do not like milk on cereals as it makes them soggy. I eat them without milk and like them like this.
I don't like dunking my biscuits in my tea (soggy - big yuk).
I don't like the pastry base at the bottom of home made lemon meringue pie (soggy -yuk!) and leave it on the plate.

There is a theme.

I find "soggy" to be yuk and not nice.

Am I the only one?

I don't drink milk (have miniscule amount in tea) so I've always eaten cereal dry. I bag it up and take it in to work for breakkie.

PestilentialCat · 27/03/2016 20:06

Drinks I disagree about bread-dunking - bread-dunking is essential I waterproof it with butter first

CreepingDogFart · 27/03/2016 20:07

Milk makes me feel sick so YANBU.

BikeRunSki · 27/03/2016 20:12

I'm also a milk minimist. If I have cereal, I put fruit juice on it, but i usually have porridge made with water.

toldmywrath · 27/03/2016 20:33

Mmm porridge with water & a pinch of salt here.

My DD bowels suffer if she has milk, so she puts water on her cereals.

MrsKoala · 27/03/2016 20:55

I knew an English boy at school who said cereals. We always thought it was weird.

I don't eat cereal apart from muesli, but i soak it in orange juice and grated apple overnight and have it with loads of greek yogurt and fruit. I have some granola with yogurt too sometimes.

I used to work with a woman who didn't like milk so poured apple/orange juice over cereal like rice crispies - bleurch

stopandstandup123 · 27/03/2016 21:07

So glad to know I am in very good company. My dh thought I was weird but now we know there are many others with discerning tastes!

I like to buy the variety packs and eat them out of the box dry as a snack. All and any cereals are yummy eaten dry. I agree with Weetabix with butter and maybe some strawberry jam on top.

I like milk, but only in its place - a milky coffee is nice, as is milkshake or even a glass of cold milk. But milk on cereals is just soggy.

Another vote for dry cereal- since becoming pregnant I cannot stand milk so the mini flavoured weetabix are a good snack.

Verbena37 · 27/03/2016 21:27

I adore cereal and could eat it for any meal.
I love soggy cereal the best.....especially soggy crunchy nut when the milk goes sweet and peanutty.
I love mini Weetabix with choc chips dry as a snack and dry Cheerios.

Crumpetsandtea · 27/03/2016 21:30

I have always loved cereal without milk. With milk yuk!

Lockheart · 27/03/2016 21:31

The only cereal I have milk with is rice crispies. And even then, the milk must be ice cold, and not too much of it so the crispies don't go soggy. I LOVE crispies with exactly the right amount of ice cold milk Grin

Everything else I eat dry. Including Weetabix!

Onlyonamonday · 27/03/2016 21:34

Ever since my dd was little, she has two bowls for breakfast, one for cereal and one for the milk .. She dips her cereal in the milk with her spoon at every mouthful.

She's 18 now and still does the same, she can't eat it when it's soggy.

Pradababe · 27/03/2016 22:59

It's fine
Took me years to add milk to cereal
I preferred milk in its original state
Hate milk shakes for this reason too

MrsMook · 27/03/2016 23:08

I never did like milk. I never did like soggy cereal either, it triggers my gag reaction.

It turns out that milk doesn't like me anyway.

My current breakfast is porridge made with Oat milk.

RaphaellaTheSpanishWaterDog · 27/03/2016 23:33

I've never liked milk either the very smell of it makes me heave so if eating breakfast cereal - which is not very often - I only ever have it dry. I don't drink tea (or coffee, for that matter) or anything else containing milk. DH doesn't drink tea or coffee either, but loves cereal (including uncooked porridge) smothered in milk.

houseeveryweekend · 28/03/2016 00:31

I hate milk on cereal but I have water instead! I like milk in tea and coffee but not on food. Hate it in porridge as well. I think it would be too dry without any liquid at all tho.

brightnearly · 28/03/2016 00:47

I like mixing cornflakes with yogurt, it's kind of on the right side of soggy.

Beefles · 28/03/2016 00:54

My son sometimes raids the cupboard and comes in eating a dry weetabix biscuit and bran flakes/sticks... Creeps the living daylights out of me but if that's what he wants to eat I see no harm in it. I think I just hate dry food so that's why it bothers me. I just ask if he wants the milk in a cup to drink. The only time I say anything is when I find he has managed to ninja his way into the kitchen enough times to eat an entire box of cereal. Confused

ilovecardigans · 28/03/2016 00:55

I like eating my branflakes with fresh orange juice. S'nice - try it! Easter Smile

CoolToned · 28/03/2016 02:16

Me! I can't stand soggy food. Well except for Weetbix.

pinkstinks · 28/03/2016 02:42

No no no weetiabix with butter and marmite!! And a glass of cold milk on the side! Grin

cdtaylornats · 28/03/2016 02:54

I like nutty muesli but I do tend to have a nut or two out of the packet in passing. Eventually it just gets to the stage where I have to throw away the crappy stuff.

Ikeameatballs · 28/03/2016 08:18

I have fresh smooth orange juice on mine.

Chorltonswheelies422 · 28/03/2016 08:23

I've never liked milk - I've always eaten cereal dry
