AIBU?

To not move on the train?

I was on a very busy packed train with my friend and DS. DS was in a sling, we had the buggy and I was feeding him. We were standing by the doors (no one offered us seats!) trying to feed a screaming baby, penned in by others standing. There was no where we could go.

People tried to push past us to get out the doors and nearly sent DS flying. I firmly asked if they could use one of the other doors and I literally couldn't go anywhere. Cue mutterings and dirty looks!

We couldn't collapse the pram there wasn't room to do and as no one had offered a seat we couldn't move anywhere! WIBU to ask them to use another door?

mum I'm a SAHM and he's currently looking for a new job. Neither of us hate working people.

Wow, serious staying power. I'm glad I'm not your sibling, OP. I'm 44 and we would both still be standing on the kerb beside the 1979 Austin Maxi, refusing to be the one who sits in the middle.

I haven't RTFT (needless to say) but has anyone suggested that the OP could have asked for some help? The conversation could have gone like this:

grumpy commuting twat "can you move please?"
OP [devastating smile] "I'd love to but its a bit tricky. My hands are full and it's so crowded now. Can anyone" (devastating smiles all around, more generally) "give me a hand with the buggy? - and - it would be so much easier if we had a seat"

10 to one you've have been tucked nicely into a seat with the buggy folded at your feet in no time.

Euripides

I suspect I'm missing loads of posts

What gave it away? Was it the 956 previous posts? Grin

So why couldn't you have waited for the next train then to feed.your baby, and fold your buggy up then.

moln - I said "oil oil" because WD40 disappears quite fast. And it smells like something you use for boring DIY jobs. OMD there is no way to say this without sounding rude....

now that's set me off laughing again. Poor Aidan, I doubt anyone says his name in a sentence without "towel" or "oil" or "dream".

Why did you have bags of shopping if you hadn't been shopping?

Report
MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 12/01/2016 22:16

Assuming that because you mentioned bags of shopping!

Right back to the train. If it's the one I'm thinking it is, given your location, it is possible to not make the door along due to having to squish past all the people around the door.

OP, it's taken you 900 posts to say you weren't shopping? I asked so many times and you were the one who mentioned bags.....

are you going for a record, you want to hit 999 posts and then say you were coming back from a hospital with medical equipment in the bags?

risky approach given how fast this thread is filling up.

So what if there'd been an accident caused by your blocking the door?

Right, so you both don't work. Nice

I travel in and out of Edinburgh on rush hour trains.... OP you would be eaten alive on our train. Your buggy would have been removed from the train for you and you would have been told to get a grip. Also the east coast Scots don't like people think they are better than them so you would have found someone making a song and dance to the conductor at the next stop and asking for you to be removed and catch the next service (conductors have discretion over bikes and buggies etc on busy services). Train companies like commuters not so much anyone else.....if you are Edinburgh way pleasssssseeeee do this on my train as it would be hilarious!

I'd settle for photos of Aidan if a webchat is out the question.
