To sometimes feel like a brusque tweedy old lady on MN

I'm not that old, but some of the views on here really astound me. No one touch my child (on a thread I started); Christmas is just for me and my little unit, no relatives allowed; how dare an elderly person park in a P&T space; etc etc etc

AIBU to sometimes think the world is slowly going mad?

This thread is an absolute breath of fresh air!!

There is still sanity on MN - YAY!!

I probably am classed as old these days, but I am by no means tweedy or pearl clutching, but FFS I despair at some of the posts/posters & their feeding frenzy mentality & weird, self centred me me me view of the world. Then theres the snipey git posters, that seem to pop up everywhere just to be antagonistic & nasty for the sake of it. Perhaps they think its witty, but it really isn't, unless you are still at bloody schoolHmm

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/09/2016 20:57

It's also nearly a year old!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/09/2016 20:58

Why not start a thread about how shit the posters are - I think there's only one that has been started today

RockinHippy · 20/09/2016 21:01

Its a zombie thread isn't it - doh Grin

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/09/2016 21:05

Yup Grin

But there are plenty of threads about how crap MN is these days 😂

maddiemookins16mum · 20/09/2016 21:07

There was a thread on here recently, I know, about breastfeeding. I have no issues with bf (I never, but hugely admire those that do). One poster said, and I qoute, "there are thousands of us breastfeeding 5 year olds to sleep every night".

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/09/2016 21:10

ZOMBIE THREAD!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/09/2016 21:12

And not sure what your point was re bf? It's always an emotive subject, are you disagreeing with bf a 5 yo? Because that never goes down well Grin

maddiemookins16mum · 20/09/2016 21:32

Yes, to a point I am, 5 year olds don't need breastfeed to sleep.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/09/2016 21:43

Then comment on the thread itself rather than on a zombie thread - that way you can have a discussion about it with the posters concerned. Dropping in a comment on a totally different thread is an odd thing to do.

BastardGoDarkly · 20/09/2016 21:47

Interesting, an ancient thread slaggin MN off, and a bf bunfight to boot. Is it bingo?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/09/2016 21:57

Not a proper bunfight - I don't think maddie had the nerve to actually give her opinion to the posters who bf their 5 yo Grin

I have had two babies and was so proud of them that any visitors were welcomed with open arms. I had some the day they were born and probably for the next few weeks after and guess what. I bonded with my baby. I'm not sure where having visitors stopped you bonding as a family. I couldn't think of anything more boring as having Christmas Day "with just the three of us". Get over yourselves.

maddiemookins16mum · 20/09/2016 22:25

Yes I did thanks. But the usual MN people said hundreds of thousands said it was quite normal and were still bf their 7 year olds. Only on MN do people bf kids over 2, but most posters are scared to say so for fear of being beaten down by the extreme MN mums.

maddiemookins16mum · 20/09/2016 22:28

Oh deste...thank you. I visited friends in hospital back in the 80's, held their newborns etc. No harm done. People are so precious these days.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 20/09/2016 22:37

People also get offended when you don't want to hold their baby and post about that.
