So mumsnet have recently changed the option to highlight both OP's and your own posts in a specific colour. They claim that only 8% of posters use this feature and hence it's unneeded.

I and some others disagree Grin So please if you would, can you answer the following questions for me? Either to protest the change or to support MNHQ, I don't mind, just interested in this 8%. Copy and paste your answer.

No discussion of the issue (if possible) - there are already two threads in Site Stuff about it. If you want to discuss it, here's one: Link

So firstly:
Do you use the highlight posts feature?

If yes
Yes, I tried it, but I didn't like it.
Yes, I use it on the desktop and mobile site but not the app.
Yes and I would like to keep it.

If no
No, I didn't know that you could do this.
Not interested in a highlighting option.
Only use the app and it's not an option on there.

Ta very much :)

Possibly too late yes I use it and would prefer highlight posts to stay please! Flowers

RebeccaCloud9 · 06/08/2015 08:27

Yes and I love it, would really like to keep it!

SusanMichelson · 06/08/2015 08:28

Thank you Thumb for the heads up, I will be sure not to change anything!

I use it mainly to find where I last posted on a thread so I can catch up from there.

I can't get a bookmark on Classic (I don't think?) so it is my own sort of bookmark.

If they would put bookmarks on classic that would help a bit, but still, when a thread is umpteem posts long and you just want an update from the OP this is such a useful feature.

Could they make it so the OP's posts are automatically highlighted on everyone's version? Even if not the reader's posts?

Shop · 06/08/2015 08:29

Yea I use it and would like to keep it.

tipsytrifle · 06/08/2015 08:30

Yes and I would like to keep it.

Love this feature! Can get a bit "post blind" when trying to backtrack in a thread, especially a long and intense one. Need the "landmark" aspect.

TheoriginalLEM · 06/08/2015 08:34

YES!!!!FFS

Tuskerfull · 06/08/2015 08:46

Yes and I would like to keep it.

It took me quite a long time to realise there was such a feature. Maybe if it was made more obvious, more than 8% of people would use it!

BarbaraTheIncredible · 06/08/2015 08:53

Yes and I would like to keep it.

throckenholt · 06/08/2015 08:54

Yes and I would like to keep it.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 06/08/2015 09:08

Susan - you're right, the bookmark feature is not available in Classic. But if you read the stickied site thread that I linked further up, you'll see that MNHQ are also trying/hoping to get rid of Classic as a view option as well.

SusanMichelson · 06/08/2015 09:29

OMG

WHAT?

I've been on classic since classic became an option.

It's like being told I can't be a cis female any more, having never wanted to be one in the first place.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 06/08/2015 09:31

You are not alone, Susan - those of us still stubbornly on Classic are Really Deeply Unhappy about it as well. Maryz is starting a Rebel group.

98percentchocolate · 06/08/2015 09:31

Yes and would like to keep (haven't read to end so apologies if thread has moved on...)

Titsalinabumsquash · 06/08/2015 09:38

Yes an I would like to keep it, I'd also like to see it rolled out on the app along with the ability to see pictures! I hate switching from app to browser all the flipping time. Confused

LittleBearPad · 06/08/2015 09:42

The new test app has pictures and custom colours and bookmarks Smile

BlackHillsofDakota · 06/08/2015 09:43

I use it and would like to keep it

Bookaholic · 06/08/2015 09:47

I use it, it makes long threads readable!

middlings · 06/08/2015 09:48

Yes and I would like to keep it.

Also, what proportion of posts do that 8% make up!?

(apologies if that's already been asked, I didn't RTFT)

SoupDragon · 06/08/2015 11:56

if you read the stickied site thread that I linked further up, you'll see that MNHQ are also trying/hoping to get rid of Classic as a view option as well.

I read the stickies thread and I don't think they are hoping to get rid of Classic. They have got rid of the Muted and Workplace options though.

olympicsrock · 06/08/2015 11:58

Yes and I would like to keep it

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 06/08/2015 12:44

Soupdragon - did you see this?

BertieBotts Tue 04-Aug-15 16:28:10
"Oh. OOH. You've snuck out the option to view MN in classic mode. That WILL rile them up. This ought to be interesting."

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 06/08/2015 12:46

OBVIOUSLY I can't check the truth of that because there's no way in hell that I'm going into Customise ever again - but that's what Bertie said.

RunAwayHome · 06/08/2015 13:00

yes I use it, and I'd certainly like to keep it for the purposes of highlighting the OP's post. I don't care so much about highlighting my own!

Bookaholic · 06/08/2015 13:01

Well that was a huge mistake, I went into 'customise' to get rid of the emails and now there are huge blotches of an unpleasant shade of green all over the place. (FAO MNHQ I previously had the OP posts highlighted in light pink, visible but not intrusive, and more relevantly - my choice)

Hedgehogsdontbite · 06/08/2015 13:26

I just went into 'customise' and discovered you only see active special needs threads if you 'opt in'. Is this a new thing? I've been here for years but never knew this. To be honest, it doesn't sit comfortably with me. Feels a bit like hiding us away in the attic so that we don't upset the neighbours.
