To ask your opinion on this very important site issue?

So mumsnet have recently changed the option to highlight both OP's and your own posts in a specific colour. They claim that only 8% of posters use this feature and hence it's unneeded.

I and some others disagree Grin So please if you would, can you answer the following questions for me? Either to protest the change or to support MNHQ, I don't mind, just interested in this 8%. Copy and paste your answer.

So firstly:
Do you use the highlight posts feature?

If yes
Yes, I tried it, but I didn't like it.
Yes, I use it on the desktop and mobile site but not the app.
Yes and I would like to keep it.

If no
No, I didn't know that you could do this.
Not interested in a highlighting option.
Only use the app and it's not an option on there.

But Becca, you are removing the ability to highlight the OPs post and one's own posts in different colours, are you not?

People want to retain the ability to distinguish between the two.

I want to choose colours though.
I had green for OP and purple for mine.
Now they are both green and it's pretty annoying.
I'd really like 2 options for colours at least, just to distinguish between the 2?

At the moment, I have NOTHING highlighted though.... so how is that possible if you are just setting the colour by default?

Yes, I like it, and find it very useful to keep track of where I was last, or to find the OP's updates.

I have it on the mobile but as i recall it's not as good on there.
and i don't use the app, but if i did, i'd want it as an option there too

So.... you can now hilight your posts and the ones of the OP. They are the same colour though but I suppose it's better than nothing.... ConfusedHmm

WHY would you have the highlights the same colour though? That's stupid! They need to be different colours to avoid confusion.

I don't mind the green, in all fairness - it's my chosen colour for the OP. I have my posts in silver/grey/whatever that is.
What I don't want is pink! Too frilly.

Look, if you have to have set colours, at least make them MN compatible. Pink isn't.

I'm confused... I'm still seeing the OPs and mine in different colours. Maybe it's because I set them explicitly at some point in the past rather than leaving defaults? (can't remember).

But you can only have 1 colour for op and your own posts ?

Doesn't work. You need a different colour option even if its only 1.

There was talk on the mobile site of posts being a couple of colours, to break it up for people with visual issues.

Never happened. White, white and more white. Lines between posts too thin. Never resolved.

I guess we just have to wait for it all to happen, and then put up or sod off.

I got all excited when I discovered it.

MN rolled their eyes at me and told me it had been around for ages.

My guess is, not many posters know it's a settings option.

I would also like it on the ap.

It is awful now. Op and mine are both. muddy green. It isointless. I had pale green and pink . I don't really care what the colour is but it should be two different colours or you can't tell which is you and which s the OP.

Interestingly Mnet posts are stll blue. Why is that? Do they need to stand out? Are they more important?

I am really pissed off with this change.

Well everyone likes different colours, I do accept that, Pike - but since we're going to end up with only one or 2 colours, I thought I'd stick my oar in against the pink! Grin

Errol - so long as you don't go into customise (DON'T go into customise, really DON'T!) and change anything, you will keep your original settings.

I had subtle colours and differentiated between the OP and my own posts.
Now they're all lumped together in an awful green colour.

Not good.

Going to check the mobile site next. Didn't use the app as it wasn't as user friendly as the mobile site.

I think MN could be much improved if the OP's posts were highlighted as default, and that you could not re-visit a thread, or post on a multi-page thread unless all the OP's posts had been read .

I really want to be able to highlight mine and the OP's posts in different colours.
