to use a shower puff?

I wash mine in the machine after every use but still I hear people saying they are disgusting/unhygienic and can't understand people using them. What is so wrong with them or is it just that some people leave the same one in shower for months on end?

What is a shower puff? Is it one of those scrunched up nylon balls?

NotSoFitFlop · 25/07/2015 14:37

Errr I use one, never wash it, looks and smells fine to me. I get a new one when they look a bit manky though.

squoosh · 25/07/2015 14:41

I love them, they make everything so lovely and lathery.

Jewels234 · 25/07/2015 14:42

I love them (didn't realise I was supposed to wash it!)

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/07/2015 14:43

I love them too. As soon as it unravels I get a new one.

GloGirl · 25/07/2015 14:44

In what machine after every use? Confused

You put it in the washing machine every time you use it??!

SaucyJack · 25/07/2015 14:44

Are we supposed to wash stuff to wash with now?

Dear God, when does it end?!

AlisonBlunderland · 25/07/2015 14:45

I wash mine in machine every now and then but it's never smelly. I do give it a good rinse after use.
Used to use a sponge but they get manky very quickly

Millipedewithherfeetup · 25/07/2015 14:46

Surely rinsing off the soap washes it ?, ours get hung up in the shower after use to dry, not at all smelly!

SurlyCue · 25/07/2015 14:46
Confused

I never wash them. I buy them at 4 for £1 and just use a new one every few weeks. I dont think they'd survive the washing machine, they arent that well held together.

pudcat · 25/07/2015 14:46

Surely if you have used shower gel and then rinsed the puff or sponge in clear shower water it is clean.

RiverTam · 25/07/2015 14:47

Why do you need to wash it? I never do, it seems fine and doesn't smell.

SurlyCue · 25/07/2015 14:48

I call mine a scruffer. Grin

sugar21 · 25/07/2015 14:48

I love them but never wash them. Surely a shower puff would unravel in a washing machine?. I just rinse the lather out when I'm showered and hang to dry. Can't see why they are considered manky when they have shower cream on them at least once a day. I just throw them out when they unravel.

Fatmomma99 · 25/07/2015 14:49

SaucyJack Grin

sugar21 · 25/07/2015 14:51

Grin 'cause it scruffs my fake tan off!

ChilliAndMint · 25/07/2015 14:55

Never wash mine...looks like a sea urchin.

eddiemairswife · 25/07/2015 14:56

Mine is called a 'Body Polisher'.... from Sainsburys.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 25/07/2015 14:56

Old ones are absolutely brilliant for cleaning the bathroom.

mikado1 · 25/07/2015 14:57

I got a pack of four in ikea and they wash really well. I started washing them because I heard people saying how gross they were... I thought it might be because they are hanging there wet and even though rinsed arennot completely clean.. you would wash your facecloth and towel.

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2015 15:01

Sometimes if you don't wash the big ones (smaller ones are rubbish) and sort of peel the mesh apart and look in the middle they can be really manky. Sad

sugar21 · 25/07/2015 15:02

Grin scruffs my fake tan off
Also scruffs the muffBlush

Cabawill · 25/07/2015 15:02

I have one and never wash it. Just rinse it throughly and hang up to dry. I replace it when it starts to look manky or smell.

There really is no better way to get properly lathered up.

stardusty5 · 25/07/2015 15:02

A towel scrubs dead skins cells off, and flannels take longer to dry, so after a fee uses smell a bit fusty and need to be washed. I use towels and flannels 2/3 times before washing.

It's never crossed my mind to wash a shower puff, the structure and material means it dries quite quickly after being rinsed. I just get a new one when its coming apart.
