to use a shower puff?

I wash mine in the machine after every use but still I hear people saying they are disgusting/unhygienic and can't understand people using them. What is so wrong with them or is it just that some people leave the same one in shower for months on end?

OP posts:

scruffs my fake tan off
Also scruffs the muff

Grin a muff scruff!!

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2015 15:05

I have this one and it washes really well.

GloGirl · 25/07/2015 15:05

Grin Muff scruff!!!!!!

sugar21 · 25/07/2015 15:06

Grin muff scruff keeps one buff.

5madthings · 25/07/2015 15:06

We have some of these, the kids and dh use them, they get rinsed in the shower and hung up to dry, I don't wash them in the machine, I never knew you should.

Grin scruffin and buffin makes a desirable muffin Wink

AlisonBlunderland · 25/07/2015 15:15

I call mine a scrunchie.
And yes they're great for sorting out the dirty knee look from fake tan

WaggleBee · 25/07/2015 15:18

Grin Sugar

I use the same ones as Sparkling Replace them when they unravel or I feel like they need it.

Never heard of anyone washing them in the machine before. If it's after every use, does that mean you're machine washing your shower doofer every single day? Confused

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2015 15:23

No not every use, maybe once a month when i think about it and before it gets manky.

TinyManticore · 25/07/2015 15:24

Was this 'urgh they're dirty' idea suggested by the same people who don't believe in loo brushes? Body puffs are fine fgs, you rinse them out and hang them up to dry. Unhygienic my arse (it's not)

sugar21 · 25/07/2015 15:31

Grin at doofer
I use primani large ones £1each so I buy a few when I'm in town. I have just looked at my current one and it looks OK in the middle and doesn't pong so I will change it when it starts to unravel. My friend uses 2, as in 1 for top and another for bum and bits. I think I would forget which was which so I stick to one

WaggleBee · 25/07/2015 15:33

Sparkling I meant the OP sorry. She said she washes it after every use.

Once a month seems reasonable. It's never occurred to me though. I'll have to inspect it later.

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2015 15:39

I am a bit wary of things that 'live' in the shower cubicle/bath. i remember DSs had some rubber ducks and a shark and I gave them a squeeze once and all this black gunk came out. Sad I was always a bit OTT about drying the math mat that stuck in the bath in case it got slimy.

I think some stuff needs to dry out fully once in a while.

NoMontagues · 25/07/2015 15:41

I used to love mine and then I heard that they harbour bacteria. I'm not normally a bacteria-fearer but I thought maybe it was the cause of my skin not being the best skin it can be, so I dumped it.

Now I use a new flannel every day. I do my face and then put on soap and do the rest of me.

It doesn't hold a candle to the puff for lathery-ness though Sad

mrspremise · 25/07/2015 16:00

Hot wash and a good soak in sterilising fluid every few weeks works for me... Smile

WallyBantersJunkBox · 25/07/2015 16:01

Perhaps colour coding....

A brown one for below the waist and a pink one for up top?

LaurieFairyCake · 25/07/2015 16:04

I never wash them

They have soap on them every day, it's fucking clean - I don't shove it up my foof/arse and not rinse it

clary · 25/07/2015 16:05

roffle at this thread.

Have never washed mine. I suspect it is used by all and sundry too Blush

I don't care.

HueyMorganismyboyfriend · 25/07/2015 16:06

I love my puff. Makes your shower gel last ages too Smile

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2015 16:09

A communal puff? Shock

clary · 25/07/2015 16:15

It's OK Sparkling, I am related to them all. I don't know if anyone uses it regularly; I use it once in a wonder, but for all I know DD does too. It's fine :)

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2015 16:17

I have teen DSs clary they are related to me but I would not want them touching my beloved shower puff. Angry

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 25/07/2015 16:17

I hope you sterilise your shower gel in the microwave every day too. And boil wash the soap. And keep your toothbrush in a plexiglass dome under a UV light.

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2015 16:19

No need for any of that Pelvic. not the same things as a soggy shower puff that never dries out thoroughly. Confused
