to use a shower puff?

I wash mine in the machine after every use but still I hear people saying they are disgusting/unhygienic and can't understand people using them. What is so wrong with them or is it just that some people leave the same one in shower for months on end?

DH's puff went manky once because he was shoving it into the little shelf thing in the shower (designed to put a bar of soap) so it never got to dry out. It took me a while to figure out where the smell was coming from and then I was ewwwwwwwwwwwww as he'd been merrily washing himself with the mouldy thing for some time!

A puff each round here, colour coded and replaced when they start coming apart.

on threads I'm on this is what was visible of yor post

DH's puff went manky once because he was shoving it into

I almost didnt want to click and find out where he was shoving it into! Grin

Dear me, I've heard it all now - people panicking about how unclean their shower puff might be. The shower puff that gets rinsed out in foam and hot water every day! Mental, the lot of you.
Its like when Monica Geller wished that she had a tiny vacuum cleaner to clean her small vacuum cleaner Smile

shower puffs don't need to be washed in the washing machine, this is crazy they are an awful lot more hygienic than old fashioned flannels!! they are just a pound in most supermarkets and can be easily replaced!!

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2015 18:20

I don't think anyone is 'mental' or panicking. Sad It's not that it's unclean it may have never dried out and therefore be a bit manky and not something you would really want to wash with by choice.

Nobody is going to come to any harm washing with a mouldy shower puff.

Notso · 25/07/2015 18:22

Applauding Sparklingbrook and mrsdavidbowie for one of the best ever cross posts!

I don't wash them, and I do share one with DD and two little DS's. DH and DS1 use a lynx man washer or something. It is more well built than the normal ones and has a tough side which I use for my feet

SurlyCue How very charming of the guy. Shock. Romantic indeed! Shared scruffers mean shared germs.
My ex used soap on a rope but one morning the rope snapped and he slipped on the soap Grin. Bashed his head and made facial improvements

NoMontagues · 25/07/2015 18:25

I'm not panicking. But I also don't think that saying they get used in the shower and are therefore clean makes sense. Washing up sponges get used in soapy water too.

pasithea tell us more about your experiment Smile

squoosh · 25/07/2015 18:26

I think Sparkling and mrsdavidbowie should henceforth be known as Face and Arse. I'm not sure who should be who though! Wink

mrsdavidbowie · 25/07/2015 18:36

Lol!!!

Toastandstrawberryjam · 25/07/2015 18:38

I wash mine every few days when I do a white wash. Had it for months and it hasn't fallen apart in the washing machine yet.

Before I wash it I scrub the inside of the shower door with it, gets rid of all the limescale and leaves it sparkling Grin

sugar21 · 25/07/2015 18:40

It felt so special
A memorable experience! Christ its been a long time since I had one of those ----

MyGastIsFlabbered · 25/07/2015 19:01

I had to throw mine away after my mum (who has slightly dubious personal hygiene habits-she showers less than once a week when she stays with me ) admitted to using it.

Yellowbird54321 · 25/07/2015 19:12

what is a fucking shower puff? Is it one of those horrendous nylon scrunchie things?

squoosh · 25/07/2015 19:13

I'm not telling you.

Grumpy-pants.

FixItUpChappie · 25/07/2015 19:14

I have one hanging in the shower for the express purpose of giving me a place to stick my hair pins so they don't rust the tube surround.

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2015 19:14

I linked to one upthread ^

FixItUpChappie · 25/07/2015 19:15

That would be tub, not tube

sugar21 · 25/07/2015 19:19

Oh Sparkling you changed back, I thought your NC was brilliant

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2015 19:20

It didn't make sense elsewhere on MN sugar. Grin
