When DH was still DP, and he was just staying at mine at weekends, he managed to provide me with the best spot ever.
He came round on the Friday night and said that he had a spot on his back that he wanted me to have a look at. He gets a wonderful array of blackheads and pimples on his back, but I have to limit my wish to attack them, as he gets fed up with me picking away.
This thing was a beauty. It was obviously quite large, maybe 5 cm across was raised, but it did not have an obvious whitehead. On initial examination it revealed some dry skin across the centre. I peeled this off, and some thin, white pus oozed out. Joy! I gave it a bit of a squeeze and got a fair amount of thin stuff out, but there was obviously more to come.
Later that evening, I had another go at it. DH lay on the bed in the yoga child pose, so the spot was stretched nice and tight. I squeezed it from side to side, and thicker pus started to come out. By changing the direction of the squeeze, I reckon I opened three different chambers, which drained out well.
I then covered the spot with a good blob of sudocreme and a waterproof plaster, to act as a sort of poultice.
I had a couple of good goes at it on the Saturday, and drained it out a couple of times, but it kept re-filling. I reapplied a sudocreme plaster poultice each time.
By the Sunday, the sudocreme and plaster had softened the skin quite a bit. When I took the plaster off and squeezed it again, there was quite a bit of blood, all mixed in with what was still fair amount of pus. I cleaned this off, and then could see that right in the middle of the spot was the culprit. One pore was blocked with something solid and white.
by carefully squeezing from every direction I managed to coax out a solid piece of pus. It came out whole and must have measured nearly 5mm long and 3mm diameter. It took a little while to get it out, but eventually it came free. There was just a little watery pus behind it.
That had completely drained the spot. The whole where the core had been was pretty impressive. As I was giving it a thorough squeeze to make sure there was nothing else to come, it was sucking air in and out, causing the blood plasma to bubble.
I cleaned it thoroughly with an anti-septic wash, and DH left it to air dry. It had dried up within a couple of hours, and by the next weekend was almost fully healed. DH had a bit of a scar for a few months, but that has completely gone and it has never come back.
