www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-33063397 in jail again for the same thing - it must be obvious to the authorities that there is a MH issue, but seems there is nothing they can/want to do. It's not like he is Russell Brand and does it for the attention!

On his first TV programme where he walked the length of Britain (with his then GF) naked he seemed fairly sane but the GF realised getting chased by the public or arrested was not worth the cause - but he cannot see this. Subsequent programmes did suggest MH issues - does he just yo-yo in and out of jail for the rest of his life?

Ah, tbf, Archery- speaking as someone who's actually seen him I can say there's absolutely nothing remotely sexual or (IMO) threatening about him. Certainly not fifteen years ago anyway. Really, really, no. And I have ishoos myself about nudity.

He actually looks like an escapee from a Monty Python film. It's just silly. A less generous person might describe him as a fucking prat.

But threatening? No.

morage · 10/06/2015 13:08

But he is not naked. He wears a hat at times, shoes and socks.
He just doesn't want to cover his genitals.

I have no problem with nudity when those round about are agreeing to be somewhere where nudity is acceptable. But that is not what is happening here.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/06/2015 13:22

The thing is Saucy, you might not find it threatening but there are many others who will.

ArcheryAnnie · 10/06/2015 13:39

Oh, Saucy, I completely agree (from a personal POV - other people might have a different reaction and I understand that). I don't personally find him threatening at all, more that in general terms a man displaying his genitals is a threat. (And it's a bit slippery-slope, too - if it's ok for him, who else it is ok for, who aren't quite as bumbling?)

I am trying to imagine what would have happened if he'd been a woman. He'd have been raped, for a start. (Women who ramble alone are at risk whether they are clothed or unclothed.) Certainly ridiculed (much more than he has already been). I really think he would not have got as far as he has, if he was a she - and "she" would have been taken away on mental health grounds a lot sooner.

TurbidTsarina · 10/06/2015 20:08

That chap Stephen Gough
Seems to put people ough.
His neighbours in Eastleigh
All thought he was beastleigh.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/06/2015 20:10

... And wanted to chop it right ough!Grin

chippednailvarnish · 10/06/2015 20:29

I don't find him threatening, but my poor eyes could do without the stress.

I wouldn't want to sit on that sofa.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/06/2015 23:36

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3117940/British-woman-four-tourists-arrested-stripping-naked-mountain-Malaysia-locals-say-angered-tribal-spirits-caused-deadly-earthquake.html

Not just the British who get upset by stripping off/inappropriate nudity.

Oldraver · 10/06/2015 23:58

ON the day he walked past the school I think he was just being bloody minded as he soon managed to duck into Martins when he was told the police were on the way....though he'd just past the police station anyway

That day I had taken the car for the school run, we usually cycle that way... I wouldn't of been bothered by DS seeing a naked body but he had a lucky escape as DS would of given him the third degree Grin

Aermingers · 11/06/2015 08:25

The thing is, this guy might be non-sexual and completely harmless in his nudity, but if he gets the right to stand outside school naked so does everybody else. And not all of them would be so innocent.

keeptothewhiteline · 11/06/2015 08:41

When I was 13 years old there was a guy who had just come out of a local pub with his penis on show asking passers by if they would like a look.

Is that OK too then?

Or indeed is this ok?

news.stv.tv/scotland/172179-man-cleared-of-weighing-genitals-at-food-and-veg-counter/

Sallyingforth · 11/06/2015 09:20

Of course those cases are not OK.
They upset genuine naturists as much as anyone - if not more because it panders to those who think that the human body is somehow dirty or disgusting. Which it isn't.

silveracorn · 13/06/2015 17:27

keeptothewhiteline, both of those examples draw specific attention to the genitals which is an act of aggression and the 'weighing' is clearly unhygienic. But there's nothing inherently wrong with walking own a street naked, minding your own business, except that we've decided it's wrong. In some cultures it wouldn't be seen as wrong or exceptional.

keeptothewhiteline · 13/06/2015 17:59

silvercorn, it isn't that we "have decided it's wrong". That is an over simplification.

"some cultures" it wouldn't be seen as wrong.
But not many.

Most iindigenous cultures don't expose the adult penis.
Whether a simple wrap, grass skirt, or even a gourd.

dexter73 · 13/06/2015 18:06

I can't think of any cultures in the Western world where people walking the streets naked would be unexceptional.

keeptothewhiteline · 13/06/2015 18:14

Come on dexter- think hard.

Gilrack · 13/06/2015 18:21

This guy might be non-sexual and completely harmless in his nudity, but if he gets the right to stand outside school naked so does everybody else. And not all of them would be so innocent.

Incorrect. The law we already have makes a distinction.

I can't think of any cultures in the Western world where people walking the streets naked would be unexceptional.

Neither can I. People do a variety of exceptional things in the streets: riding unicycles in the streets; walking their pet monkeys and owls; wearing fancy dress costumes and cutting edge fashion; singing & dancing; acting out dramas; carrying protest placards; the list's endless!

You gonna lock 'em all up? Grin

Gilrack · 13/06/2015 18:23

Dexter ... welcome to Munich Wink

dexter73 · 13/06/2015 18:37

I give up keeptothewhiteline - enlighten me.
Gilrack - those are special naked zones. We have those here too.

Gilrack · 13/06/2015 18:46

Yes, I just thought you'd enjoy the reminder! My real point is that we don't lock people up for doing 'exceptional' things in public with no threatening intent. Unless they are Mr Gough.

keeptothewhiteline · 14/06/2015 13:50

dexter- sorry that was meant tongue in cheek- you are right of course, there are none.

keeptothewhiteline · 14/06/2015 13:51

But penises can be lively things.
Most men I have known times a day- at random. Not sure I really want to see men wandering around with purplers.

meyesmyeyes · 14/06/2015 13:54

let's face it mens genitalia are not the prettiest sight, all that flapping about

Agree! I don't want to see a man's manky meat and two veg flapping around in the wind when I'm walking down the street.

He definitely has MH issues.

meyesmyeyes · 14/06/2015 13:56

chippedvarnish,

that pic reminds me of a thread that was on (about a year ago).
A woman hated the fact her boyfriend kept sitting on her white sofa with his bare bollocks.
She was seriously thinking of breaking up with him about it.

(I wonder if it's still around?) Some of the replies were hilarious.
Anybody else remember the White Sofa thread?

keeptothewhiteline · 14/06/2015 13:58

Yes- I remember- using the sofa as a pair of underpants- soiling with jobbie juice.
