www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-33063397 in jail again for the same thing - it must be obvious to the authorities that there is a MH issue, but seems there is nothing they can/want to do. It's not like he is Russell Brand and does it for the attention!

On his first TV programme where he walked the length of Britain (with his then GF) naked he seemed fairly sane but the GF realised getting chased by the public or arrested was not worth the cause - but he cannot see this. Subsequent programmes did suggest MH issues - does he just yo-yo in and out of jail for the rest of his life?

He may be a twat, I don't know if he is or he isn't because I haven't met him. Being a twat shouldn't influence whether he goes to jail or gets ASBOs for walking around naked. In my opinion an older man walking around naked is not offensive and does not put me or my family in any danger.

chippednailvarnish · 09/06/2015 20:05

He has treated his children abysmally, I have no sympathy for him whatsoever.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/06/2015 20:05

So if he was younger it wouldn't be ok?Confused

NerrSnerr · 09/06/2015 20:06

I didn't need that 'older' I'm sorry. In my opinion, any person walking around naked isn't offensive.

I can't think why he persists in this. What does he hope to achieve?

FWIW, I would find a naked man when I didn't expect to see one (ie on a country walk) intimidating and possibly frightening.

But he doesn't care about other people does he? It's all about him and his right to show his dick off in public.

Gilrack · 09/06/2015 20:16

I find this fascinating every time :) I'm not interested in his personality, mental health or interpersonal skills. Or in his body. It's the British attitude to nudity. He's not behaving in a sexual or aggressive manner, just walking around without the usual number of clothes. Daft, imo, but harmless unless you consider breaking social norms harmful. Since I'm of the school of thought that says it's never a bad idea to test social norms once in a while, I don't see his hobby as at all threatening.

"What about the poor children" is a red herring. If you manage to protect your kids from ever seeing an adult naked body, you must be keeping them in a very small cultural bubble. And the question remains, why would you feel the need to prevent them knowing what adult bodies look like?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/06/2015 20:21

I think it is aggressive to walk around naked when you've been repeatedly told not to by the authorities . He was told not to walk past the school but he did it anyway just because he wanted everyone to see him naked making whatever point he's trying to make. There's plenty of places where he can go and be a nudist but he doesn't want that.

Gilrack · 09/06/2015 20:26

Well, yeah, I get the impression he's a bit of a prat. But, as I said, it's the public - and legal - reaction that interests me. It's a slightly annoying man with no clothes on. Meh.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/06/2015 20:28

spielplatz.co.uk/

full of lovely people with no clothes on, but he wouldn't be interested because it's not about not wearing clothes, it's about everyone seeing him not wearing clothes.Hmm

Great link Dame - although I did chortle at the 'become a full member' closing comment! Grin

SaucyJack · 09/06/2015 20:37

I think I saw him and his.... um.... walking pole at Glastonbury aaages ago.

I don't feel sorry for him. This is what he's chosen to dedicate his life to. I'm not bothered by him tho.

Horses for courses.

Gilrack · 09/06/2015 20:39

Afaics, Dame, that's what winds people up, isn't it? It's exhibitionism. Although I don't see they can impute a sexual or malicious motive to it. We don't lock people up for committing other exhibitionist acts, like wearing unusual outfits or dancing/singing.

... I wonder if you'd be given an ASBO for dancing, if someone complained? You can get them for anything, can't you?

hedgehogsdontbite · 09/06/2015 20:40

"Autistic people are the polar opposite of attention seeking exhibitionists."

Well it is nice to know all Autistic people fit into one nice neat little box.

Not as nice as seeing you take umbridge at me defending autistic people against the implication that because he behaves like an uncaring twat he must be on the spectrum Hmm.

Sallyingforth · 09/06/2015 20:49

As a real nudist I find what he is doing absolutely reprehensible. He's making a harmless, healthy activity into something offensive.

When it's warm enough I'm naked indoors, in the garden, and on public beaches. All or which is perfectly legal and as far as I know has never caused anyone any offence.

But he is clearly going out of his way to cause trouble. Whether that is due to an MH problem or just sheer bloody-mindedness I don't know. But either way he must be prevented from what he has been doing.

maggiethemagpie · 09/06/2015 20:51

It's legal to be naked on a public beach Sallyingforth?

Gilrack · 09/06/2015 20:57

When it's warm enough I'm naked indoors

It's NEVER warm enough here! (rural Midlands) Waaah! I want to move back down south!

Hoppityhippityhop · 09/06/2015 21:00

I don't feel sorry for the naked rambler. If he can wear a hat and socks he can wear speedos. I do not understand why he wants to inflict the sight of his penis on the world. Pedantry? Exhibitionism?

I don't care whether it's just the human body, or just skin, I would not want to see his genitalia in the street or in a field.

And frankly if I did see him I would find him intimidating.

MikeEhrmentraut · 09/06/2015 21:12

Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with what he does , I've always thought that when I've seen him in the news.

It's a little sad that as a society we imprison somebody for walking around in a natural state.

I agree with this.
