Fakeness on mumsnet

AIBU to think that at times some people on mumsnet are really fake? I don't find it as bad on AIBU threads as they are so anonymous but I've noticed it is awful on threads where ppl have built up rapport.

Like, rather than be upfront on a certain subject, I find vast majority of ppl will be like "OMG, that is so awful, totes agree with you, you poor thing" etc etc without even trying to consider the other side to the story. Or reading into the posters post which quite often is self centred and bratty, even on the surface. I find women amongst friends have a real inability to be honest and it's tiresome that women who don't even know each other/will prob never meet each other can't even be frank with one another and a group will just spew the same rubbish and paraphrase what the poster above has said. Defeats the purpose of posting for opinions because it just looks like 1. The poster wants everyone to agree and 2. No matter what, no one will even be honest. Sick of seeing ppl demonise the "baddie" in the posters tale without a second thought. And yes, I think women are particularly guilty of this in life whilst men have the guts to be more honest.

And that's that really.

No waaay!! Shock people are fake on an anonymous internet forum? Who would've thunk it? Wink

SewingAndCakes · 08/05/2015 19:42

No I've found on here people tend to give quite upfront and honest advice. Not always, but a lot of the time are you thinking of Netmums?

RitaCrudgington · 08/05/2015 19:43

I think you may be thinking of certain other fora.

springsprang · 08/05/2015 19:43

Oh do fuck off dear.

ilovesooty · 08/05/2015 19:43

Anyone selling tickets for this one?

I hardly know where to begin.

DoMeDon · 08/05/2015 19:45

Sometimes people want opinions, often they don't. Aibu , relationships and wwyd are for opinions, everywhere else not so much

AnyFucker · 08/05/2015 19:45

Men are better than women. Is that what you are saying ?

WhoNickedMyName · 08/05/2015 19:45

I think you've posted this on the wrong forum hun.

Sparklingbrook · 08/05/2015 19:45
EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 08/05/2015 19:46

Nonsense. People tend to say what they really think on mumsnet as it is not real life.

PerspicaciaTick · 08/05/2015 19:46

What odds the OP is a man?

VikingVolva · 08/05/2015 19:46

I think if anyone posted 'totes agree with you' the rest of the thread would be lost to synchronised vomiting.

"And yes, I think women are particularly guilty of this"

Why? Genuine question (starting with the pinkification of babies, and all other gender stereotyping in the rest if a lifetime?)

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 08/05/2015 19:47

Sometimes I can't be arsed to read the whole OP, this evening was one of those times

Koalafications · 08/05/2015 19:47
Hmm
EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 08/05/2015 19:47

Anyone see 'baddie' and read 'man?'

Sparklingbrook · 08/05/2015 19:48

Hi Koala. Smile

LapsedTwentysomething · 08/05/2015 19:48

MN is the least fake place in the world, ever. And that's why I love - and sometimes hate - it.

tethersend · 08/05/2015 19:48

OMG, that is so awful, totes agree with you, you poor thing.

SurlyCue · 08/05/2015 19:50

Yes ehric i assumed OP is the (male) subject of a relationships or lone parent thread or something.

MistressDeeCee · 08/05/2015 19:53

"totes" is not an MN word. Really. It just isn't

OttiliaVonBCup · 08/05/2015 19:53

"OMG, that is so awful, totes agree with you, you poor thing"

No.
Never seen that.

Meerka · 08/05/2015 19:53

Most fake posters here are trolls who just love winding people up (and yes Im certain I fall for it sometimes. Just like now)

OttiliaVonBCup · 08/05/2015 19:54

I'm actually happy when people disagree with me.
It's healthy.
