Fakeness on mumsnet

AIBU to think that at times some people on mumsnet are really fake? I don't find it as bad on AIBU threads as they are so anonymous but I've noticed it is awful on threads where ppl have built up rapport.

Like, rather than be upfront on a certain subject, I find vast majority of ppl will be like "OMG, that is so awful, totes agree with you, you poor thing" etc etc without even trying to consider the other side to the story. Or reading into the posters post which quite often is self centred and bratty, even on the surface. I find women amongst friends have a real inability to be honest and it's tiresome that women who don't even know each other/will prob never meet each other can't even be frank with one another and a group will just spew the same rubbish and paraphrase what the poster above has said. Defeats the purpose of posting for opinions because it just looks like 1. The poster wants everyone to agree and 2. No matter what, no one will even be honest. Sick of seeing ppl demonise the "baddie" in the posters tale without a second thought. And yes, I think women are particularly guilty of this in life whilst men have the guts to be more honest.

And that's that really.

I think that people are brutally honest on MN- the anonymity lets you say what you can't in RL. It isn't a place for the faint hearted!
A lot of people come with their own agenda so they home in on the side that they identify with.

No total opposite. People will post for support and often a ton of people will come along and flame them.

Never seen 'totes agree with you' on mumsnet love. Far more likely to see 'fuck off you cunt' Grin

I think some people are so brutally honest here they sometimes reveal themselves to be somewhat twattish, ignorant and superficial without any understanding of the OP's actual question (not this OP - OPs in general).

But then some people are so brutally honest that they show compassion and understanding of the issue where they see it from the OP (which is all we ever have to go on so why do some people feel need to read between the lines and make up extra shit that wasn't in the OP but projected into the situation from their own mind which says more about them than the OP?)

At the end of the day that's what your going to get with a load of diverse personalities on an anonymous forum and it's all the fun of the fair, I honestly cannot see why anyone would get too bothered or worked up about any of it, it just isn't real life and if anyone exposes the essence what they are so what?

I don't think this OP gives a crap really they just dropped a grenade and ....
