You know how your perceptions change as you grow up about some programmes, well, it's not as corny as I thought it would be!

I just finished the first season and have started watching the first episode of the second and am really enjoying it. Some laugh out loud moments, hilarious one liners remind me of why I enjoyed it so much as a teenager!

I think buffy was a really good role model and (aside from the vampire slaying!) I really felt I could relate to her.

I think joss whedon was a genius.

YANBU. We rewatched all of it last year.
Other than the season with Adam (snore), it's brilliant.
Buffy is so cool and kicky punchy witty great hair awesome.

WannabeLaraCroft · 11/04/2015 11:18

Ooh I love it too it's timeless isn't it?

I preferred the earlier seasons, especially ones with Angel! Swoon!

Doesn't take itself too seriously, bit of fun. I like Dawson's Creek which I absolutely LOVED as a teenager, but now makes me cringe slightly when I see episodes from the first 2/3 seasons!

feebeecat · 11/04/2015 11:21

YANBU at all.
Love Buffy - always makes me want to put on high-heeled boots & go out and kick people. Am not very good in heels though, so don't tend to bother Grin
Enjoy!!

IntrinsicFieldSubtractor · 11/04/2015 11:23

That is not and never will be unreasonable, no.

BigRedBall · 11/04/2015 11:27

Oh god yes, the Adam season was terrible from what I remember.

Yes, she is awesome. I loved her then and love her now! That Angel/Buffy chemistry amazing too.

Yes Dawson's Creek makes me cringe too in retrospect. I couldn't watch that again. The whole teacher/pacey relationship seemed so romantic back then, but now it seems sickening and wrong. I would never let my dd watch it!

YANBU, I loved Buffy, the musical episode was genius.

YouTheCat · 11/04/2015 11:33

I was never really a fan. My kids were young at the time and so it wasn't something we watched. But I did meet James Marsters a couple of weeks ago. He was a very nice chap. Grin

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 11/04/2015 11:36

You was that at NFCC?

Ive never seen Buffy, but I think I would love it. Is it not too dated then? It is something I have considered.

YouTheCat · 11/04/2015 11:37

It was DrHarleen. And very much fun it was too. Grin

BigRedBall · 11/04/2015 11:40

Oh wow YouTheCat, lucky you!

Buffy is AWESOME. YANEVERBU.

However, I prefer Angel as a series (and cry like a big baby at the last episode)

I didn't watch Buffy/Angel the first time round, DP introduced me to them last year. And Dollhouse. And Firefly. And Doctor Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog.

I love and hate Joss Whedon in equal measure.

NatashaRomanov · 11/04/2015 11:45

Definitely not BU!
I am re-watching it all on Netflix. Love Buffy!

BigRedBall · 11/04/2015 11:48

DrHarleen, it's brilliant. Even watching the first series again after 17 years I still enjoyed it. Not too much teenage angst (like Dawson's creek), lots of action, excellent stories, good humour and one handsome vampire to swoon over (Angel) Grin.

I still love Buffy, too. I don't think the early seasons have aged well - they look VERY 90s - but the mid to later ones feel timeless.

MrsMoggy · 11/04/2015 13:06

I absolutely love buffy, had first few seasons on video and then the others on DVD. Season 5 was my favourite, cry at the gift everytime. I also had the cd from the musical episode

OhWotIsItThisTime · 11/04/2015 13:40

Once More With Feeling was the name of the musical episode - it's brilliant. I also loved Hush, the episode where they all lose their voices because of the terrifying gentlemen.

Teeste · 11/04/2015 13:45

YANBU. Buffy rocks, always has, always will.

I have the Buffy box set and the Xena one Grin and I'm the same age as Buffy! I always felt like we were growing up together.

Peanutbutterfingers · 11/04/2015 13:47

And 'The Body' for amazing writing, it's so sad and so beautifully done.

pointythings · 11/04/2015 13:47

YANBU, we are re-watching them with the DDs (now 12 and 14). The first 3 seasons have not aged that well, but the scripts mitigate that a lot, and there is soooo much eye candy for us. DD1 prefers Spike, DD2 is an Angel fan and I lust after Giles.

We're at the tail end of season 5 now, will probably start Angel when we're done.

LeBearPolar · 11/04/2015 13:48

Just beginning to introduce DS (12) to it: we have watched all of Season 1 and just started 2. DH and I watched it all faithfully when it was first broadcast and we still love it now.

I love that Joss Whedon has been involved with all the Avengers/Agents of Shield stuff too - so DS knows who he is and what kind of writer/director he is. I love the fact that Whedon is so clever and witty.

Becca19962014 · 11/04/2015 14:08

I've just watched seasons one to four back to back (I have all of them from various charity shops). I'm going to return to Buffy later as yesterday I found in a charity shop all 5 of the Angel series for £15! (I did query the price as I know it's worth a lot more than that but they were determined it couldn't be worth more so I got a huge bargain - brand new never been watched!) only saw a couple of season one when they were on so I'm watching those now.

Becca19962014 · 11/04/2015 14:09

I meant to add my favourite seasons of Buffy change!

I didn't watch much of it when it was first on - it didn't appeal to me at all then but for some reason over the past couple of years it has.

YesAnastasia · 11/04/2015 14:12

YANBU I love Buffy so much. I wanted to be Willow (or Faith depending on my mood) & I was in love with Angel. Still am a bit.

When I watched a marathon I thought I could fight like that, esp if I'd had a drink. I'd do the moves & mess about much to my then bf's amusement.

I'd love to have the time to watch it all again, I'm glad it's still enjoyable so long after.

TheTravellingLemon · 11/04/2015 14:15

YANBU. I was just thinking the other day that we haven't had a Buffy thread for a while. I re watch it every now and again and it's always fab. Still love Spike as much as teenage me did.

CoffeeTwo · 11/04/2015 14:17

YANBU I love it so much.
