You know how your perceptions change as you grow up about some programmes, well, it's not as corny as I thought it would be!

I just finished the first season and have started watching the first episode of the second and am really enjoying it. Some laugh out loud moments, hilarious one liners remind me of why I enjoyed it so much as a teenager!

I think buffy was a really good role model and (aside from the vampire slaying!) I really felt I could relate to her.

I think joss whedon was a genius.

Yanbu! The first 2 series are fab! i didnt like the college series much either.
The werewolves were suddenly very shit.

CaveMum · 11/04/2015 21:26

YA definitely NBU! Buffy is the joint best tv show ever (tied with West Wing)

I still love Spike as much as I did aged 17 (am also the same age as Buffy Grin), and James Marsters remains on my "List" despite being in his 50s Shock

The only bad thing about Buffy was Kendra's accent, but Dru took care of that (despite her own occasionally dodgy Dick Van Dyke moments) Wink

InAndOfMyself · 11/04/2015 21:31

YADNBU but whoever said it was 17 years ago is being VU!

YY to Once More With Feeling, Hush, & The Body. Joss is genius!

Tootssweet · 11/04/2015 21:34

I ?????? Buffy! It is such an excellent piece of writing & casting. I am just starting season 7 again - thank you Netflix! I can't wait to introduce dd to it - I will be gutted if she doesn't like it!

I wish I could work out how to get American Netflix as they have Angel on there & I would love to watch that properly. I kind of dipped in and out of it when it was originally on & never quite got the whole way through it. I do like seeing some of the cast pop up on Agents of SHEILD - Joss Whedon is very faithful to his actors that way.

Yes the pleather & feather look has aged but the show is timeless is so many other ways!

MuddlingMackem · 11/04/2015 21:39

YANBU. I have all of the DVDs and all of the Angel DVDs but haven't rewatched them as the kids aren't old enough to watch with me.

However, thanks to Netflix I can have a bedtime episode - or two! - on my tablet and I'm loving it. Only about half way through the first series. I don't think it's dated badly, although the opening titles have dated very badly. Grin

YADNBU we also started watching it again a few months ago, still love it. Looking at getting all the angel seasons next Grin

BlueCanaryOverByTheLightSwitch · 11/04/2015 21:42

We do have all angels but they are on VHS Blush

Velve · 11/04/2015 21:42

It makes me shed happy tears to still find people gushing about Buffy.
I re-watch it pretty much every year, along with Angel, Dollhouse, Firefly and Serenity. I am such a Whedonverse geek it makes me cry a little.

Hush was amazing, the acting in that!!! The Body, oh god, Buffy didn't have to cry I did it for her and then some, still do every time.
I know a lot of people found season 7 a bit of a let down but I thoroughly loved it. It had that sense of epic dread because the Big Bad was the kind of thing you could never defeat, just push back (much like Wolfram&Hart).

Andrew was amazing as the new permanent comic relief addition.
I will never forgive Whedon for killing off Anya. Curse him!

NoNameDame · 11/04/2015 21:44

Spike all the way.
Love 'once more with feeling' episode when they all sing

goldopals · 11/04/2015 21:47

Buffy is my absolute favourite show! My favourite episodes are Hush and The Body. I love season 1-3, 5 and 7. The Adam season sucked and season 6 was too depressing and reminded me of my 8 years of working at Maccas

I love watching seasons 1-3 and trying to translate their outfits into modern equivalents.

Fans of Amy Acker might want to start watching Person of Interest. It's probably the second most ridiculous show on TV (I think Sleepy Hollow has prime position, although I love it) but the cast is first rate and Amy Acker is terrifying in it. She's also bloody marvellous in the Whedon directed Much Ado (as are half of the Whedon regulars)

6LittleOnes · 11/04/2015 21:56

I love buffy, am re- watching series 2 at the moment. I actually quite liked Riley and thought series 4 had some good episodes (fear itself was prob my favourite) but it was the weakest season. Love Love Love Spike, right from School Hard, and cry every time he does in the last episode, even though I know he comes back in Angel.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 11/04/2015 21:57

I'm watching it all again - it's awesome

BigRedBall · 11/04/2015 22:12

Ooh I'm so happy there are others out there who still love it! No one in my school liked Buffy...even at university it was my guilty pleasure. I used to stay awake until stupid'o'clock and watch the uncut episodes in bbc2 Grin. I have all the episodes season 4-7 on VHS Blush. they're still at the back of my wardrobe!

Actually now that I've watched series 1 again, their computers and monitors look massive! And no one had a mobile phone in series 1.

ah and the episode where Tara gets shot, just her face and her last sentence :'(

Teeste · 11/04/2015 22:18

Person of Interest isn't ridiculous! I may have a slight lady-crush on Shaw though...

nocoolnamesleft · 11/04/2015 22:57

YANBU. Buffy was awesome (I was always partial to Spike). I was also always rather amused by the public health messages:

Only soulless bad guys smoke (and if they get their soul back they stop)
Computer dating is risky (because it could be a demon)
If a guy is too good to be true he probably is (a robot)
Underage sex leads to major problems (people being seriously injured, or losing souls, or risking the end of the world)
Libraries are cool places

Gileswithachainsaw · 11/04/2015 23:01

ya sooooo NBU!!!!

love buffy.

can you tell Wink

Disneyfan1995 · 11/04/2015 23:04

YNBU best programme ever Grin Grin Grin

OhWotIsItThisTime · 11/04/2015 23:23

Giles in Hard Candy...

ICantFindAFreeNickName · 11/04/2015 23:32

YNBU
We are re-watching season 2 as I type. DP & I watched it when it was first on, then re-watched it with DS several years ago. I have been dying to introduce DD, who is 12 to it. We now have the perfect excuse, as hopefully we will meet the Xander actor in a couple of weeks.
DD is loving it as expected, she is a big Joss Whedon fan anyway from the Avengers etc, She is already torn between Angel, Spike & Xander (Oz has not really been in it yet), just like me.

Lweji · 11/04/2015 23:53

I love it too.
Not corny at all.
