You know how your perceptions change as you grow up about some programmes, well, it's not as corny as I thought it would be!

I just finished the first season and have started watching the first episode of the second and am really enjoying it. Some laugh out loud moments, hilarious one liners remind me of why I enjoyed it so much as a teenager!

I think buffy was a really good role model and (aside from the vampire slaying!) I really felt I could relate to her.

I think joss whedon was a genius.

My DD1 introduced me to Buffy when she was 12... I remember being a bit shocked (it was season 6!) I then caught up with the previous 5 seasons and was HOOKED. She is now 23... and we, and DD2 can quote from every sing episode and have regular Buffy Nights when they are both home from Uni :)

Season 5 I think was my favourite.. Glory was awesome and when Spike gets all beaten up for Buffy... ahhhhhhhh

And of course season 6 'Smashed' OMG..... :D

YANBU
It's my comfort tv viewing Grin
Plus I have a Buffy tattoo

BigRedBall · 12/04/2015 08:11

muddling yes! You're right! I forgot that...I only watched it a few days ago Confused

I'm loving reading how all your children are enjoying it with you, I really can't wait to do that! I just know dd will love it, she likes scary things.

And the 17 years is scary right? Can't believe it's been that long

I watched upto Reptile Boy last night. Xander is hilarious. It's a shame how badly Nicholas Brendan is doing now. Apparently he was sexually abused as a child. I wish him well.

Has anyone mentioned Tabula Rasa yet? Where they all lose their memories and Spike thinks he's Giles' son called Randy and Buffy is Joan? That episode is hilarious Grin

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/04/2015 09:31

I hare though that they killed tara. I loved tara and her and willow were so sweet together. I was so angry they just made up and she died

Shodan · 12/04/2015 09:38

I've just finished re-watching the entire series.

I've watched it many times, and hated Kennedy every time. And I still hate her. Little brat Grin

But I do love the humour. Especially "Out for a walk. Bitch."

LeBearPolar · 12/04/2015 09:50

ICantFindAFreeNickname - don't get too excited about meeting Nicholas Brendon as it may not happen. He's going through a whole world of personal problems at the moment - here and has just revealed he was sexually abused as a child Sad

Silvercatowner · 12/04/2015 09:52

The normalisation of gayness within the storyline was incredibly important and incredibly empowering for my son when he was a teenager. When I meet Joss Wheedon I intend to give him a huge hug and a 'thanks' for this.

GratefulHead · 12/04/2015 10:29

I watched some Buffy recently having spent ages watching Pretty Little Liars which I have enjoyed despite the plotholes and inconsitancies. Buffy was a joy to watch in comparison, well written, well acted, well directed and just so so much better. Btw I DO think the Pretty Little Liars actors are excellent but the script is a mess at times with characters coming and going without explanation.

My sons loved Buffy,I inherited the dvds when they left home, and I still watch it. My favourite season is 5,with the magnificent Glorificus and her scabby minions. But....did anyone else feel cheated in season 7,when Buffy finally tells Spike she loves him (and she did!)..and Spike said 'no,you don't'. Spoiled it a little imho.

ICantFindAFreeNickName · 12/04/2015 20:22

LeBearPolar - thanks for that, I hadn't seen about the latest arrest, only the one in Feb, poor Nicholas. I wont get my hopes up too much.

TheAssassinsGuild · 12/04/2015 20:28

I agree NotOne. And whilst I was pleased that Spike pitched up on Angel, I felt there was too much of a disconnect between his Buffy character and his character on Angel. Spoiled it for me.
Buffy (and Angel) have ruined all other vampire shows for me. I tried very hard to like True Blood, but I just kept comparing it to Buffy and thinking how they'd just got it all wrong.

Reading my mind, OP!!

My DP came home last night to find me in absolute floods because I'd rewatched "The Prom", and I was right at the end where she is presented with the Class Protector award. I blubbed like a baby! As soon as Jonathon says "We have one more award to give out", my tears give out too!

Spadequeen · 12/04/2015 21:43

Love Buffy, love spike even more!!!

The gentlemen were very scary and loved the beer bad episode

CaveMum · 12/04/2015 21:48

I do love "Out. For. A. Walk. Bitch!", I have been known to say it to DH in response to the question "What are you doing?" Grin

britespark1 · 12/04/2015 21:57

YANBU at all :-) love love love Buffy. After being completely obsessed when I was younger I now find it hilarious that my married name is Summers.

InAndOfMyself · 13/04/2015 23:30

Has an AIBU ever been this agreeable?

CurrerBell · 14/04/2015 16:48

We're watching it from the beginning as well on Netflix and really enjoying it.

I was surprised that the early seasons look quite dated (yet the late nineties only seem quite recent in my memory...).

We are up to the Adam series. My favourite episode so far was the one where they all lost their voices - brilliant and scary.

Angel doesn't do it for me... but Spike steals the show of the scenes he's in. Smile Also love Giles (we have a cat called Giles, although we didn't name him!).

DH and I can't quite get over the fact that we're now closer to Giles's / Buffy's mum's ages than Buffy's...

mindexplode · 14/04/2015 17:19

we love Buffy, we have a cat named after one of the characters.

I am always team Spike, I found Angel a bit meh

britespark1 · 14/04/2015 19:19

Definitely team Spike too. I actually met both actors at a convention (I was young!) and Boreanz was very offish and up himself whereas James Marsters was simply awesome. Still had my photo taken with the two of them though :-/

Tunna · 14/04/2015 20:24

I still get choked up about Buffy, it was sudden death to friends and family if they dared to call me on a Thursday at 8 when it used to be on Sky. I proper grieved at the end of season 5 when Buffy jumped into the portal. Sad

frankie001 · 14/04/2015 21:20

Buffy and Angel fan here too. Hush was genius

MummyPidge · 14/04/2015 22:01

Buffy/angel was a massive part of my life for several years, spent a lot of money and met most of the main/supporting cast. There are still 2 episodes I haven't watched (hush and the alien one that comes when Joyce is ill) I love and hate Tabula Rasa in equal measure (Tara reasons) my fave episodes are where Xander has bewitched all of the females to love him and the dream episode "I wear the cheese,it does not wear me". Fave character is Spike by far, and Fred in Angel (please Wesley why can't I stay is still the worst thing ever to me and kills me every time) least fave is Yawn and Kennedy. I've always said if I was on Mastermind my specialist subject would be the works of Joss Whedon! Love Firefly also Smile
